Looking for Asian Dramas! 13 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 4
Seriously, I'm lacking things to watch. I've caught up on all my Chuck, Big Bang Theory, and Two and a Half-Men series. I need some new dramas to watch.

I'd love some high school asian dramas - something preferrably with a female lead character.
But I'm open to variety.

Any recommendations?

As far as high school drama, I only know two:

Princess Hours - Korean (kind of high school...)
1 Litre of Tears - Japanese (this one is if you want a good, tear-jerking drama)

Other ones I'd suggest are:

My Girl - Korean
Coffee Prince - Korean
Hello Baby - Korean
Romantic Princess - Korean

Thanks. I'll add those to my "Things to Watch" list.
I did just discover one called "Yankee-kun to Megane-Chan". <3

You should also try Hana Yori Dango. Korean. English title: Boys Over Flowers. It was done as an anime (51 episodes)and a live action series (2 seasons). Female lead. Classic reverse harem. 36 manga volumes plus an extra (Jewel Box just released over here a couple of months ago).

@Lisa and Time: I just finished Hana Yori Dango (Japanese and Korean). I liked it, but the female character started to piss me off.

@Lisa: I watched Hana Kimi over the summer (Japanese), and the Korean version last year, I think. I really enjoyed that series. It's what got me into watching dramas in the first place.

Thanks for the suggestions though.
I'll go look them up. ^^

Here are my personal favorites:

-It Started with a kiss aka "Itzura na kiss" (Taiwanese. My ALL time favorite, which you can see on youtube or overstream. The main character actually really reminds of Sesshoumaru sometimes. Esp. in the second season. The main female character really dispels some people at first, however, but once you're a few episodes in you can't help but fall in love with her unwavering spirit, tenacity, and ability to LOVE. This show is nothing but uplifting, IMO).
- Mars
- Silence
-Hana Kimi
- Full House (Korean Drama)
- Frog Prince
- Kim Sam Soon (its like a Korean Bridget Jones; Sort of lol)

Let me know if you like any of them, of if you can't find links to watch them on ( i'm sure i still have some working vid links on my computer somewhere! lol)

I've watch so many asian dramas, many based within the high school realm, I can't keep the names straight but here are a few of my personal taiwanese favorites:

Devil Beside You
Down With Love
Easy Fortune Happy Life

And if none of those sound good, just hop onto mysoju.com (they have korean, japanese, and a few hong kong and main land dramas) and have your pick! Also, I bet a few of your favorite mangas have been turned into dramas, maybe. : ]

To be honest, I haven't watched any Asian Dramas(tried watching the one based off of 'The Wallflower' but couldn't >.< ). Here is a site for Asian Dramas: www.dramacrazy.net

There is this Asian Movie I LOVE called 'Baby and Me' It's a really adorable movie, and does have some drama in it, so if you haven't seen it, I highly suggest you do.

You can actually watch it on the site I mentioned, It's called Baby and I, Here is the link to it: www.dramacrazy.net/korean-movie/baby-and-i/

Check out mysoju.com . They have a ton of dramas -- and movies!! So entertaining. My favorite movies are 100 Days With Mr. Arrogant and another one that has something to do with Mr. Perfect. I forget the title. But check it out, if you haven't.

I've only really watched Jdramas, but here goes nothing..

For highschool drama, Great Teacher Onizuka (or GTO) is a must!
Some similar ones are Dragonzakura and Gokusen.
My Boss my Hero is an entertaining high school drama with a yakuza twist.

I'd also really want to recommend Otomen (based on a manga of the same name). I watched it in the summer and I really enjoyed it!
Another one I watched this summer was called LIFE, though it concentrates on the darker side of the highschool life. Bullying especially is an important theme in that drama.

Also, not so much a high school drama, but still worth watching is Attention Please!, it's one of my favourite dramas. It follows flight attendants in-training.

Pineapples arre soo good. What I hate about life is that you have to work hard for what you want

Bananas arre so Not good. But the thing about working hard is that it always looks good on a resume ^^

Grapes arre...so-so unless they are firm, yum! Giving up is not in my vocab anymore >.-

I'm not even going to joke about being completely and utterly addicted to dramas, specifically asian onces.

Here's some of my faves:

Romantic Princess
Fated to love you
Goong (Princess Hours)
Goong S (but I only watched it for Se7en XD)
Brown Sugar Macchiato (Very good High School Drama)
18 Vs. 29
Mars
Meteor Garden (Very good college drama)(Taiwanese version of Boys before Flowers)
Absolute Boyfriend
Full House
Hi, My Sweetheart
It Started With a Kiss (Tawainese version of Mischievous Kiss)

Most of the ones I listed are Taiwanese versions of some of the Korean dramas listed. And I'm current re-watching Goong and wathcing P.S Man. I have preference to watch Taiwanese drama more so than Koreans ones because they tend to be more comedy based. Korean dramas always have spectacular acting, but they also tend to be more serious and emotional. If you real emotional rollercoaster ride, try Fated To Love you. It's Taiwanese. The main protagonist in the story remind me so much of Sesshomaru and Kagome, you just have to see it. And don't get me started on the emotional back stories. It's my favorite drama of all time though. It reminds me of lot fanfiction I've read here too. So strongly urge people to watch the drama. I watch my dramas at mysoju.com!! Happy Drama-watching!!

Oh boyyyy! My favorite topic EVERRRRR, here goes

Korean:
Full House (I saw this on other people's list, you have to watch it! Hysterical and feel good, not to mention both men are very very...ah...hot.)
Endless Love Series: Autumn in My Heart, Winter Sonata, Spring Waltz, Summer Scent (Warning, it will cause depression).
Stairways to Heaven (REALLY depressing, I felt terrible for weeks afterwards)
Hotelier (It's hysterical!)
200 Pounds of Beauty (A movie, but it's soooo good)

Taiwanese:
Mars (A must see!)
Green Forest, My Home (Both leading men are fucking gorgeous, honestly)
Turn Left, Turn Right
Fated to Love You
My Queen

Japanese:
Vampire Knight (It's actually an anime, but it's very sexy and noir. Better than Twilight, if I may say so...)
These are just some to get you started. They're all set in the modern day, however if you like period series too, I can also give you some...
