There's been a lot of talk in the chat about different crafts we all do outside of writing or arting. Some people here cross stitch or sculpt, knit or crochet etc. This would be a fun place to share what you do or possibly find other people sharing your interests. And a fun place to show off (because who doesn't finish a project and want to say 'LOOK! IS IT NOT FANTASTIC?').

However, after speaking to a mod, there are a couple of things that need to be pointed out.

1.) This is not a commisions thread. You -can- link to your site if you do sell whatever it is you craft, BUT Dokuga is in no way affiliated with that site, and cannot be held liable for any deals made. This means that if you commission/purchase something, or sell to any individual that is a member on this site, whether for good or ill, Dokuga has nothing to do with it. Period.

2.) This thread is merely for sharing projects, trading ideas and maybe finding a new hobby.

Crafts.... my extent of crafting kinda ends at PINning on pinterest. I have all these grand plans and then never get around to any. I DID make a really awesome mobile for over my sons crib. I'll get pics posted of it one day. lol

My REAL passion is cooking. Never met a recipe I couldn't master or improve on, and we rarely eat the same thing twice. I think there are maybe 10 recipes that I do more than once a year, but nothing more than twice. ...which I realize to some people is crazy, but my hubs HATES eating the same thing very often so I try and keep it spiced up. Now if only he'd figure out that its ME working so hard to get meals on and not some food fairy.

What, Moxy? You mean dinner doesn't "HAPPEN" like it does in my house?

No lie, the college-aged daughter will suddenly ask, from a room away, "So, when's dinner happening?"

I hate to tell her I lost that magic wand years ago, and so I can't just wave the stupid thing around anymore. One of these days, though, someone will figure it out... like when dinner doesn't "happen" when mom's gone??

lol no... but the food fairy gets all the credit. Not me. I'm sure when the kids are older it will just be something that "happens" around here, too! For now, the kids know who makes food "happen" at least... after all, when my eldest tells daddy they are hungry all they get is... "uh... go ask your mom what you can have." she does, and then he says "okay! uh... go ask your mom where its at." I tell him. Then its. "uh... how do I make this?" *headdesk*

My woefully amateurish first attempt at a peace sign pattern with crochet. It took forever.

Edit: Two people have asked for the pattern, so here it is.

I'm the crafty one in my house. I actually used to make craft kits for girl scout troops that I sold on eBay before they raised their listing fees so much I couldn't keep things reasonable and make any profit at all. We do a lot of crafts with homeschooling.

I cross stitch (though I haven't in quite some time now), knit (also been a while since I started at my latest), and crochet! I've been trying to figure out crocheting since I was like 7 and finally the wonder of youtube did what reading alone could not. I'm working on a granny square quilt now, but no pics as of yet. I have about a zillion half done projects (gee, kinda like my writing) in both cross stitch and knitting, but I am bound and determined to finish this quilt. Crocheting seems easier on my arms than knitting so I can do it for longer and make actual progress!

The best thing I actually finished recently was the yoda hat I made for Damien for halloween. I cut his face off since we're not allowed to post pics of our kids here. Hope I cut off enough. I just wanted to make sure you could see the hat! I whipped this thing up in like 3 days, only a couple of minutes a day. I was surprising how easy it was! This pic doesn't have the fluff added for hair whispies that the finished product had though.

I also get crafty with food. You should see the snackies we made for our halloween party. A lot of time, but they were worth it.

I've tried out a number of different crafts over the years, but needle and yarn crafts are the ones that have stuck with me the most. I sew, quilt, cross-stitch, knit, and crochet. Most recently, I started to learn how to weave.

This table runner is one of my first weaving projects.

And because I thought it would be fun to be able to create my own yarn for my weaving, knitting, and crocheting, I decided to try spinning. It's actually turned out to be one of my favorite crafts, and I spend a lot of time spinning yarn, even if I don't have a specific project in mind for it.

I like to crochet, but I am not sure I can remember the last time I actually worked on something, I am trying to learn how to cook some new and interesting things, but my real crafting loves are metalsmithing and silk floral arrangements.

I love getting down with a file, torch, and some gemstones. There is something really relaxing about making metal surrender to your will, lol!

As for the silks, I did all the floral arrangements for my own wedding and discovered that silk flowers (and feathers, beads, greenery, etc.) were super fun to play with. So I ended up doing all the silks for a friend's wedding and my brother's wedding!

I want to bring back this thread, 'cause it's awesome!!!!

Another hobby I have besides baking is sewing! I've been sewing since the 7th grade, and was making prom dresses my senior year in high school.

Here are a few samples. (sorry for the bad phone quality)

THIS is obviously a Work In Progress :]

I don't know if people still share their crafts here. But here is something I am working on.. Most of these are mad from origami paper. The fan stuff (Tardis, Sesshy symbol, Companion cube, and triforce) were something I designed and printed on paper. Yep everything but the pokeball was paper... that I hand painted on a wood disk.

Hmm, can I manage to add what I've been working on lately...?

Edit 2: no, apparently not until I can fix the pics on my computer...

Hello! What an interesting discussion!!
On my spare time I LOVEE doing my nails!
Even though it's not amazing as knitting and other crafts...it's still a favorite hobby of mine! I love doing other people's nails as well! I got the chance to do my friends wedding nails too!
