You're very observant There is some mention in chapter 10 of Kagome being late :/ it's complex, because she was taking contraception. Definitely, if everyone got down to talk some violence could be avoided. But so far all parties have done some effed up things, so putting emotions aside would be difficult. You're right, when Inuyasha is the voice of reason, it's time to reconsider.
