In episode 26 - secrets of the jewel, Sango tells that after Midoriko created the jewel that the slayers would find the jewel in demons and humans.

I am guessing that each time they would make a wish and it would disappear. Is this how Kikyo found out about the wish? And how does the jewel find its way into the different beings?

Also with this in mind, just how sure are we that Kagome is an incarnation of Kikyo? Despite Urasue saying that she was. Could she only have a part of her soul?

Just a thought I had. What are your thoughts?
