Thread Browsing Problem 12 Years ago Karma: 4
Occasionally, as I lurk through posts on the forum the navigation buttons for a singular thread won't allow me to go backwards. I click on Start, Prev, 1, even go back to the original category and try to click onto the first page there. Nothing seems to work.

Anyone else have this most vexing problem?

I have with the not going back... For some reason the generation of the link just doesn't always work 100% .... May be a database timeout thing as I have only ever seen it once.

I'm *hoping* that when I'm brave enough to update the live site that will be one of the few minor tweaks fixed.

I have run into the problem of not being able to go back as well, but it doesn't happen every time. It seems to randomly crop up.

Hrm, being a database time-out does sound likely, since because of where I live I am usually on around the early morning for americans when its just early evening here. It does appear to be random, which makes it more annoying; you never know when it pops up...

Hrmm... If you are on around 12am GMT-4 or 5am GMT-4 then you'll hit the time when some backups are running. But they do full web/database dumps at that time, and that *does* cause issues. :/ (looks like server is set GMT-4 for time so...)

These are the hosting provider ones that I haven't seen where to control 'em yet.

I'm not sure what it is, but I've had problems viewing the first page of post since I joined the site. I've recently discovered that I can view it now, but only if I'm logged out and bring it up using firefox. (my default browser is IE9)

I am still having this problem though more focused. I simply cannot view the first page of any thread. I'm using Chrome... Though this happens at all times for me, even when I'm logged out.

My problem with going back has been solved. I hardly ever encounter it. I am, however, having the same problem with viewing the first page of a thread. I'm using Firefox.

Possible fixing?

Paying attention to the address of the page has paid off. To get to the first page of the thread paste ?limit=25&start=1 to the end of the address. It doesn't work everytime but it can help sometimes.

Unfortunately this hasn't worked for me,I can only ever see the most recent page of posts..

With this method, I can see everything but the first post. Which at times causes problems.

I am having the exact same problem. I haven't been able to get to page one of ANY thread I go to, and I don't know why. Using Firefox.
