Yeah, it took years of practice for me to even begin to get painting with watercolors right. And I still feel like I'm learning. In fact, I got as frustrated with it as you seemed to be and I stopped painting with them for years because of it. Just picked it back up recently and all seems to be going well... I did some nice watercolors of Inuyasha characters that I need to scan in... Anyway, I hope those tutorials help and if you're ever in need of artistic advice, just give me a holler. noacat@gmail.com

hi guys, i don't mean to intrude again...

but recently i've taken a liking, a crazy liking to watercolors..

i think... this may very well be the art media for me since the others don't really work at all... for me at least.

I was wondering if there were watercolor programs available to buy/download, preferably download for free.

does adobe photoshop or paint shop have them?

your help is greatly appreciated!

I'm not too sure how helpful this will be, but here's a tutorial called "A Quick and Easy Watercolor with Photoshop's Art History Brush". It also has pictures.

it's on topic..

but what i meant was, i create an outline, and i color the outline with watercolor like textures digitally, with photoshop or paintshop or any other program out there.

hmm i don't know if such program exist.. or texture/brushes

well there's a program called Paint BBS... but it's a java script i think, i have no way of importing my outline onto it =/

and the brush/pencil is really static.. not very pleasant to look at

Hehe. Oops.

Well, I do know there are texture/brushes out there with watercolor... here's some watercolor brushes from Bittbox that look pretty good, and they're for Photoshop (you do have that, right? If not, you could get a free trail from their official website). I don't have Photoshop, so I have no idea how to go about downloading and using these brushes, but I think they tell you how to do that on the site.

There are ways to give your pics a watercolor feel digitally. But frankly, I find actually doing your work in real watercolor with paint is a lot better and more satisfying. But that's just me... truth be told, actually painting with watercolors can be a pain. It's really hard to get it right and not screw everything up. Ug, and if you make a mistake there is literally NO way to fix it. Maybe digital is better...

Here's a few tutorials:
