Next fanfic I am searching for,
And I am sorry I can't be more specific about it!

What I do remember about this story is that Sesshoumaru wants to mate Kagome and she doesn't like him at all, and Kouga gets pissed off about it all and challenges his rights to her and the two of them fight, I believe Sesshoumaru kills Kouga, I can't remember.

I do remember Kagome telling him that if he kills Kouga she will hate him forever, or something similar.

I think they are at a grand outdoor party with other lords when this transpires, but I can't be sure, I read it a LONG time ago and really enjoyed reading it.

I've read that story too-- is this the one you're thinking of?. The fight with Kouga is in chapter 12-ish. This author writes some seriously dense paragraphs, and I don't think it's finished.
