I've been trying to find two fics, but I can't find them. Here is what I remember:

1) there is a youkai out to harm Rin, so Sango sends Rin to Kagome in Georgia, and also sends Sess to protect the two of them from the person chasing them. I remember that Sango gets killed in a horrific way, but doesn't give up on the location of Kag and Rin.

2) the second fic is called the revenent but I can't seem to find it here or on ff.net. Can someone remember where this fic might still be up for viewing?

I believe the first one you are looking for is Underground Railroad by MlMonty. Sadly it no longer exists in fanfic form as she has taken it down and turned it into a non-fanfiction book series called Verian Universe.

Wiccan had helped me find this out not terribly long ago.
