A few months ago I read a story about Kagome joining Sesshomaru's army. She worked her way up through the ranks. It took place in the past, she was human, but didn't age. There was a part where she and Sesshomaru were actually separated for 10 years because she was stationed somewhere else and working on career.

I forgot to add to my favorites.
