I think this was a one-shot but I'm not sure. In it, Kagome wakes up in the middle of the night alone as Miroku and Sango have snuck off into the woods for "quality time" and Inuyasha was supposed to watch camp. But he snuck off while Kagome was sleeping to be with Kikyo. He later claimed his instincts and mating season were why, might have even claimed to have a beast (which in this story, hanyou did not have one). Kagome wakes up and finds herself being hunted by Sesshomaru, who has killed all of his rutting partners in the past mating seasons. She is able to evade him for most of the night before she can't go any further. He mates her and the next day, they both confront Inuyasha. Sound familiar? Thank you!

Well, I did stumble on this one though I don't recall the name. I actually had it in my faves but with a hundred of them I can't find it.

While Striking a Deal is a great story, it's not the one I'm looking for. I hope I'm not mixing two stories but I think that Sesshomaru's beast had fallen for Kagome and to spare her from being raped and mated to him, he had himself locked in his chambers/cave for the duration of his heat. Only this time, he didn't make it in time to lock himself up and his beast began pursuit of Kagome. He commented to an adviser or his general that Kagome had been the only female in the last several years to survive his heat by satisfying his need for the hunt. The peak of his heat would have been on the night of the full moon.

Yeah, I'm serious. I do stumbled upon that fic down to the very letter of it. If I remember correctly, Kagome hated him afterwards, right? And Sess went a little sad about it. Now, if only I can find it.
