It's not The Black Dog or Bitten that I'm looking for. This was an MA fic where Kagome is bitten by a type of dog that I believe was be supposedly the last of its king (but I could be wrong) and changes her.

The part that sticks out the most is that Sesshomaru and Kouga fight for rights to mate her.
