Whew! I am almost at the end of my story Life Lessons, and the big confrontation; the battle between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha is close at hand, unfortunately I have little or no idea how to write a battle scene. I am asking for some pointers or just some general help in writing it. I would love and appreciate the help most gratefully!

I've never written a battle scene, so I won't pretend that I can tell you exactly what is good in a battle scene, but I do know what I liked in the works I've read. I really like when the POV changes between characters in the battle, or even those not involved with the battle. Playing with the auras of Sessh and Inuyasha could be fun too, maybe go into detail about the yokai or energy given off by the two? I would write about any cuts or anything making the fight harder for either of the characters. Don't forget InuYasha's battle cries! Jumping, swords clashing, and noises that the swords make when they're clashing could also be a good idea. Just have fun, I guess!

TL;DR I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Here's my suggestions:

If it's Inu and Sess fighting, rewatch a few of their anime fight scenes, pay attention to how they talk to each other and how they interact, do they start out slow with banter then jump right in, that sort of thing.

Then watch a few scenes from a good action movie (I recommend Die Hard or Indiana Jones) Watch the moves used, how they fight, hit, kick... what items around them do they use.... (do searches on YouTube so you don't have to watch it all, unless you want)

Now in your mind apply what you saw in the movies to Sess's fight scene and start writing.

That's how I've done it.

Hope that helps.

Write what you feel good writing. Even if you have no experience, just take what you see in your head and write it as closely as possible to that. That's how I do it anyway.
