I have a feeling it won't be as bad as the nedia makes it out to be. NYC's been through worse. There was Hurricane Gloria back in '85 when I was 9 and that storm was Category 2 when it reached my backyard. But better to be safe than sorry.

I remember that one! It cracked the top half of a tree at the end of our block clean off, but the wind and everything was so loud that no one even heard the tree hit the ground. We were all surprised when we came out the next day and saw a tree laying out in the street O.o

It's just starting to pick up here. The rain isn't heavy right now but the winds are getting stronger. The worst of it isn't supposed to hit us until much later but we'll see what happens. I don't think it is going to be quite as bad as they were predicting but it's still not going to be pleasant

well i live in Charlotte NC so we're only getting alot of wind so far but it'll probably start raining either later this evening, or in the middle of the night, plus we haven't been hit since hugo so there isnt much worry here besides flood damage

I think the worst of it is just about over, though the news says it'll go on until about 2 AM. It wasn't really that bad in my area. Lots of wind and lots of rain. There are some fallen trees, but I don't think anyone's been hurt. The power flickered three times, but never went out. I consider this lucky since about 250,000 Virginia homes are without electricity at the moment.

The news did report two deaths in Virginia from fallen trees, but they were not close to me. Still, my heart goes out to them, especially the 11 year old boy who died because the tree crashed through their apartment and landed on him. His mother, the only family he has, is fine though.
