Midnight Cat (Chapter 5) - Thu 15 Apr 2010

What an emotional chapter! I was glued to it from begining to end and can honestly say it was riveting! I'm loving this story so much! I really look forward to your updates! Thank you so much for sharing with us!

kagomesirene (Chapter 5) - Thu 15 Apr 2010

oooooooook....ithis story is really one of my favourites...most likely because i kinda know how it feels when you see people that you only knew as strong and independent get almost helpless like newborns too...

...i feel sad that something so horrible must have happened to sesshoumaru in order to suspect that kagome would really be cruel enough to let him starve...although we don't know that much about the status of their relationship in the feudal era in your story

...i only have to say one thing:

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE update as soon as you're muse strikes you/you'll find the time to do so >.<

i'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter

dayna (Chapter 5) - Thu 15 Apr 2010

Man I loved this chapter. It had me on an emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end. I  went from laughing to nearly in tears. I have to say that this story is like no other story I have came across on this site and I absoultely adore it. I love the way that Sessy is showing emotions even if he is not used to it but who can blame his after all that has happened to him. Him and Kagome are gonna be able to connect on a whole new level. I think their bond is gonna be so strong that NOTHING will be able to break it, and all because all they have are each other. Cant wait for the next update.

Saide (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Mere words cannot tell the expression I am feeling after reading all chapters of your work. I am simply stunned by all of this. This is wonderful, I'm gonna wait for your next chapters. :3

nursalina ng, malaysia (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Dear Shangri La,

I, respectfully thank you for sharing your heartfelt words in this fiction(?). I believe you are able to portray the characters magnificently which may be from your active imagination BUT more so through your work, experience, observation, listening and research. The lower half section of Chapter 4 is very touching. It reminds me that most of us do hear without listening and looking without seeing.

My sincere apologies should I be too presumptious.

I enjoy all your stories.

Thank you and best wishes.

Aubrey Simone (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Right so this chapter was absolutely beautiful, especially the end when Sesshomaru began to type and "talk" to Kagome. I like how you portrayed him; cool, calm, and mostly collected even being as needful as he is, and I think that you captured his personality perfectly. Kagome, as well, was magnificent in this chapter. A beautiful chapter, all in all, and I'll be waiting on the next update! Best of luck, and Much Love,

~Aubrey

Quiet Whisper (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Wow that was... deep towards the end, and here I always thought Kagome would have a knack for seeing things that weren't there lol. I can't imagine things are going to be easy, nor would I expect them to be considering the content of the last four chapters.

This is turning out to be a very fantastic story and I can't wait to see where it goes, keep up the great work!

dayna (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

As usual another great chapter. I love the words that Sessy typed to Kagome about just enjoying silence. And I have to say that he is absoultely right. Silence can be a wonderful thing, just to bask in its peace and take the stress of the day away.

As I said before I knew he was going to be able to adapt very well with being in a time that is not his own even though he longs to be back in the fuedal era. I cant wait to see what other secrets Sesshomaru has in store for Kagome and the world. Will be waiting for another update. :)

jgem (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Another well written chapter! What I loved about this one though was all the little humorous moments in it: like Sesshoumaru peeking over Mokomoko, getting brain freeze, and sitting in his wheelchair like it is a throne.

What did find the last part to be interesting as well. Not just what Sesshoumaru says about taking time to just enjoy the silence, but as of yet, you have not really mentioned much as to how Kagome is "mentally" from not being able to get to the past. Perhaps she has been keeping herself too busy to really do the healing she needs to do as well.

I love how this story is getting me to "think" and not just read.

Midnight Cat (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Wow!! What an amazing chapter!! I loved the way Sesshomaru expressed his contempt for talking, and how Kagome learned so much from this! Sesshomaru has always been such a deep character and his mind in this chapter illustrates how intense his feelings and emotions really are!!

Thank you so much for updating! I look forward to the next chapter with much anticipation!!

Hugs:

Kazanova (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

This is getting really good.

I can't get over the originality of the story. It's brilliant, really.

please updata

FayeMegan (Chapter 4) - Wed 14 Apr 2010

Ahh beautiful! I hope he gets rehabilitaed soon and can get up and walk on his own. I know this is "Embrace the slience" but I hope he does speak soon. And maybe some sparks can fly between them. ;) I also can't wait to find out what happened to him.

snowbird (Chapter 3) - Tue 13 Apr 2010

I like the slow pace you're taking with his recovery because it's more realistic.  It's so precious the way she cares for him in such detail.  I don't think anything you've wrote so far detracts from the story and I'm glad you're not glossing over certain details.  I think it would take away from the story to skip them.   I feel your heart is in this story and I'm soaking up every bit of the emotion that radiates from the page.

jgem (Chapter 3) - Tue 13 Apr 2010

I'm so excited that you brought this story over from Spark, as well as your other stories.

First, i want to say hurray for a totally new plot when I really was starting to get bored with what has been posted so far. Though the technical jargon wasn't too difficult for me, I can see how some readers might become bored with it and move on. I actually found it a bit of a fun challenge to guess if I was right and then look up the answer down below. Plus, I've found that most of the better authors will put in some pertinent information in parts like that, so you better keep a close eye on that. Everything is mentioned for a reason....like a heart murmer (sp).

Second, though I've been on pins and needles waiting to find out if he wakes and how he wakes, I do appreciate the time you are taking to craft this story. I would have to suspend a lot of belief to expect Sesshoumaru to suddenly wake up from a 20+ year coma (because I don't know when he actually fell into his coma) and be all hunky-dory and ready to go at it with Kagome. Obviously he suffered some major trauma. Which I also like to say how I like how you have portrayed Sesshoumaru as not being "invincible" (I refer back to the Flowers on the Moon, where he (gasp!) dies).

I can't wait to see more of the story and find out how things will work out in this story. Is it a romantic one?  Is it more about friendship? Will he live? Will he fully recover? Will we find out what put him in this condition to start off? I guess I will have to tune in tomorrow to find out.

Great job!

theunknownchild (Chapter 3) - Tue 13 Apr 2010

Yay! So exciting...I cannot image how much more exciting this would be to witness in a real situation...wow. Cannot wait for the update tomorrow :)

Is there a set amount of chapters for this story?

Shae (Chapter 3) - Tue 13 Apr 2010

Ah! I think I recall reading this on a Single Spark, so glad that you're updating it :D I thought it looked to be promising.

You know after having read a few of your stories I love how you describe things. You give me the strong impression that you either have actual experience with what you're writing about, or you've researched everything really well. I also find how honest and even unflattering at times things can be in your stories to be truly refreshing. I really hope that you continue to keep these things about your style, because I enjoy reading such realistic depictions of things.

And contrary to what others have said I didn't have any problems with the terminology. I've watched bits and pieces of medical tv shows over the years, but I by no means know anything much about the subject. Yet I found your descriptions were enough to let me figure out what was going on, and even if I didn't I could still figure if something as bad or good etc. I read the list of terminology at the end, but found I didn't really need to.

Anyway, again in relation to your lovely realistic writing style I like how rather than Sesshoumaru suddenly waking up and acting like normal you've got him gradually gaining back bits of himself. I imagine it'll take a lot of work to get him anywhere near where he was, but I really enjoy seeing this process. The way Kagome treats him is very sweet too, like a child but not in a demeaning way. It seems comforting.

I'm interested about his aura being reduced to nearly nothing. I wonder if perhaps it was sealed, or he was just so close to death that it completely retreated. Love how he glared at her about the fluffy and went red eyed at the moving bed, too. It must be very disconcerting for him to be in the state he is in, though I'm guessing his mind will also take a little time to recover. He seems to currently understand things but still seems to have the openness about him that he has had while vegetative. I adore the comparisons to a puppy too :D

So basically I'm saying that I think your story is wonderful and can't wait to read more of it. Having an update every day means I can sneak in some time in the morning to read a chapter and have something to ponder for the rest of the day. Keep up the good work ^^

Midnight Cat (Chapter 3) - Tue 13 Apr 2010

I want to begin by apologizing for not reviewing before, but I was trying to get a better felling for the story.

I have to say that this is a very interesting plot, one which I have never seen before, so it makes it quite the read.

I am familiar with the setting and some of the things that you describe since I used to be a CNA and worked at a nursing facility for years.  It was hard to revisit some of the most "colorful" aspects of working with disabled patients, specially since my specialty was with Alzheimer's patients, and as you may already know, this at times can be very challenging.

I was ambiguous about the chapters at first because there was too much information, medical terminology was a bit much for me and a medical student or RN would have probably be fine with it, but the vast majority of people soon become confused about it. It was a nice touch to include the glossary at the end of each chapter, but it was still too much for people to digest and it took a bit away from the story.

Another thing that I had a small hard time to digest was the brutally honest description of some of the not so "flattering" aspects of the care of Sesshomaru.

I would NEVER, not in a million years pretend to tell you how to write your own story, I respect writers way too much for it, and I appreciate every time I see someone writing something worth reading who chooses to share it with the fanfic community at large. This is why I chose to remain quiet about certain parts of some of the chapters. However, as a reader and as part of merely an opinion -one that should be taken with a grain of salt-, I wanted to tell you that at times I felt myself conflicted about certain aspects of the information provided for us to read. It felt as if it was a bit too much. I know this is the reality of taking care of a patient in the condition Sesshomaru is at this point, but in my humble opinion it was at times detracting from the story to have to read of things that felt like too much information; information that didn't add anything to the story but instead, made us confront mercilessly a brutal reality that takes place every day in real life, but it is too painful and unconfortable for someone who has not experienced it before and it detracts from the enjoyment factor to be forced to experience feelings that take away from the enjoyment of the story.

I found today's chapter to be a bit more easy to digest and this prompt me to write this review. Again, I wish to emphazise that I believe that this story has many aspects that make it unique and worth reading, the setting is super original, and as such, intriguing, which makes for a wonderful reading, one that I find myself looking forward every day.

Once again, I feel grateful for your generosity in sharing your writing skills with us, this story has the potential to become one of the most original I have ever seen, and I hope it will continue to be so.

I appologize about the long rant; as I said before, reviews are like opinions in the sense that every one has one, and what may be considered a valid point for many, it may mean nothing to many more, so keeping that in mind, remember to follow your heart and if you feel that they are unnecesary, by all means, disregard them without a second look.

Thank you again, I look forward to the following chapters with anticipation!

Best wishes:
