Snow (Hey Oh) by Apathetic

Snow (Hey Oh)

A hard-eyed teenage girl strode down Main Street, people reflexively avoiding her because of her emotionless yet violent aura. The snow swirled around her pale face, twisting into her dark locks of hair, the hood of her sweatshirt shadowing her eyes. The orange glow of street lamps glimmered down into the darkness, refracting to the tinted windows of passing buildings and cars. Snow fell thick and fast, cold and cruel; yet so beautiful. She pumped up the volume on her iPod, and snuggled herself deeper into her thick jacket, shivering at the bite of the wind.

~ Come to decide that the things I tried

Were in my life just to get high on ~

You would never guess that this cold, blue eyed, black haired beauty was the guardian of a long forgotten jewel. She had been such a happy little woman, bursting with warmth and life; her eyes as turbulent and changing as the sea itself. Now her heart was hard, ruthless and so... frozen. She lost everything the day they fought Naraku, even the Bone Eater's Well itself as the path to the past was erased from existence. She had looked, but now she was just so very tired and so very cold.

~ When I sit alone come get a little known

But I need more than myself this time ~

Even now the last image of her time with her friends in the past was leaking away, becoming smaller as the years passed by. She was slowly forgetting them all: Inuyasha, Shippo, Sango, Miroku, Kilala...even ones like Rin, Jaken, Kikyo...even Naraku and Sesshoumaru. They were slowly melting away, like the snow before the sun.

And I do believe that we rely on ~

A small boy with black hair slipped on the ice next to her, his mother yelling for him in some distant place. Using her enhanced reflexes, she caught him before he could hit the ground, bracing her feet against the rough concrete. The little boy thanked her profusely, before looking up. Time froze as their eyes locked, before he bolted, screaming. She gave a deep sigh, her breath misting in the cold air as she thought, before turning and continuing her lonely trek. Alone. As always. Ever since... that day five hundred years ago.

Come get to play it on

All my life to sacrifice ~

She leaned against a cold brick wall, her hood pulled lowly over her sapphire eyes, as people vanished into stores and houses, trying to escape the cold. Moonlight dappled at random from between the amethyst colored clouds, alighting on the streets and houses, on the warm and those that were frozen. These past days had had many changes. After all, change is inevitable. She had watched herself be born, a stumbling little naïve child that knew nothing of her destiny. She was envious of that. She knew that the past would repeat itself, and the thought merely encased her heart in even more ice.

I got your

Hey Oh now listen what I say oh ~

But that was the past, and this is the present, but the utter exhaustion was too much sometimes. She would have been all right if but one had remained. If only Sesshomaru was here, but he had also disappeared, oh so long ago. She didn't even know if he still lived. The mere thought that he could be alive was enough to make her frozen heart beat in excitement.

~ When will I know that I really can't go

To the well once more time to decide on ~

The cold wind picked up, making her raven wing colored hair whip wildly from its tie, as she trudged through the already inches deep snow. Thinking of the once aloof Sesshomaru made her heart soar with a newly found freedom. He had been so different in the end, so warm and tender towards her. Shouldering her hideously yellow backpack, she felt a new determination come over her as she strode downtown. Her slim hands curled around the straps, gripping them so tightly her knuckles turned a frozen white.

~ When it's killing me

What do I really need

All that I need to look inside ~

"I have wandered to the ends of the earth looking for my Love, and I refuse to give up, even now. I will find you, Sesshomaru."

She said aloud as she jogged from the outskirts of the city, a deep emotion set into her sapphire eyes, sending them sparkling with a thousand colors.

Love.

~ Hey Oh, listen what I say oh

Come back and

Hey oh look at what I say oh ~

Snow covered her tracks as she followed a river away from the city, hiding them from the world, just as so many things had been hidden. Just like so many things would come to be hidden. Such is the way of this world. Things are doomed to repeat themselves.

But even if you leave it in the hands of Fate, it doesn't mean you have to sit and do nothing. Take a stand.

The way back was hidden. Now there was no turning back. If she had to walk on forever, she would at least find out what became of him.

She would take a stand. For life, for love, for Fate. For Sesshoumaru.

~ The more I see the less I know

The more I like to let it go...hey oh... whoa whoa ~

"Sesshoumaru."

~ Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder

Where it's so white as snow ~

"Wait for me. I'm coming."
