A High School Fairytale by My Eternal Misery

Kagome's Note and Inuyasha's Brother

Do I mean anything to you anymore?

Kagome stared at her own handwriting. She felt absolutely deprived giving this to him, but she had to know. He just hadn't been the same the past couple weeks. She wondered if it had anything to do with his rekindled friendship with Kikyo. Sandly she folded the small paper torn from her notebook and shoved it into her pocket. She'd hand it to him after school at his house. Then she'd just run outside back to her car and step on the gas til she was safe and sound in her own room. Then she'd demand a response the next day in school.

"I don't understand why you can't just talk to him about it..." Sango had said when Kagome wrote the very simplistic note during class.

"I don't know." Kagome muttered, "I guess I'm afraid of what the answer might be, and if it's as bad as it could be I don't want him to see me cry."

Sango just rolled her eyes. "You two need counceling."

So finally the bell had rung and it was time to meet Inuyasha, but Kagome wouldn't show this time. This was her way of showing that she means business. He'd go to meet her, he'd realize she wasn't coming, go home and then she'd unexpectedly show up and hand him the note. It was the pefect plan.

Kagome walked by her lonesome to the school parking lot. She couldn't help but picture him standing there by his locker, just waiting for her arrival. A wave of guilt fell over her, but she stood her ground and ignored it. She had to do this. For both of their sakes.

She got in her car, reached into her pocket and reread the note one more time.

Do I mean anything to you anymore?

This would decide her future with Inuyasha. She took a deep breath and started the car. Placing the note in the empty passengers seat she first decided to stop by the ice cream place for a shake. That would calm her nerves and it would give Inuyasha time to realize she was a no show and go home.

The shake was too watery and didn't taste right today. She took a sip and placed it back in the cupholder to be ignored, and now it was time to drive over to Inuyasha's house and get this over with.

She pulled up in the large driveway. She noticed that his car was there meaning that so far everything had gone perfectly as planned. She also noticed that there was a really nice car in the driveway she had never seen before but that didn't matter right now. She grabbed the note and confidently stepped out onto Inuyasha's perfect driveway, ran across his perfect lawn, paced up his perfect front steps and shoved his perfect front door open. The hallway was empty. Kagome figured he was in his room now, doing homework or maybe playing video games depending on what mood he was in today. She slowly followed the hallway to a regal set of winding stairs and started up towards his bedroom, where they had shared so many loving memories. Kagome felt her emotions getting the better of her. Her eyes watered as she remembered how exciting and new their relationship had been the first day, then the following week and it even lasted the first month, and now she was resorting to this. She unfolded the paper and reread her note to him.

"It's rather rude to just let yourself into one's home."

Kagome nearly jumped out of her own skin. She glanced up at a face she had never seen before, but the eyes that belonged to this unknown face gleamed with familiarity. He undoubtedly was related to Inuyasha.

"I come here all the time." she explained to this stranger, "My name is Kagome. I'm Inuyasha's girlfriend."

"That doesn't excuse rude behavior." Kagome felt extremely out of place with this man's cold gaze upon her.

"Leave her the fuck alone, asshole." Inuyasha's voice cut through the tension between them. Kagome felt wetness upon her cheeks. She hadn't known she was crying before this intimidating individual. She wiped away at the tears.

"Inuyasha!" she managed out, running past the stranger. She leapt into her boyfriend's arms, "Inuyasha I came here to... to..." that was it. The tears came pouring out beyond her control.

"Uhh." Inuyasha looked stunned, "Kagome, are you alright?"

"I have to.. talk... to... you." she managed out pathetically.

"Eh.. If this is about me leaving early and forgetting to meet you in front of my locker today, I'm really sorry.." Inuyasha quickly babbled, "See, uh, Kikyo needed a ride home right away after school and I offered to give her one cause she had no other way there, so I'm sorry."

"W... What?!" Kagome sniffled and fought back her tears to gaze angrily into Inuyasha's widening eyes, "You mean to tell me, YOU ditched ME after school today?!"

"Uh, well ditched is a really strong word, Kagome." Inuyasha flustered.

Kagome pushed out of his weak embrace and after a very heated staredown she finally let loose and gave him a powerful jab in the stomach. Inuyasha surprisingly keeled over and winced. "What the hell, Kagome!" he blurted out, "What the fuck was that about?! I told you why I didn't show. There's no reason to get violent!"

"Inuyasha, you're a creep!" Kagome blurted out. She crinkled the note that was still in her hand and while Inuyasha was still keeled over on the ground she threw it at the ground near him, "Don't bother replying to it." she bit out, "I already know the true answer." With that she turned to leave only to catch, once again, the unwanted gaze of Inuyasha's frightening elder relative. He looked at her this time showing something she couldn't quite define, mainly because his experession hadn't changed. He looked upon her this time with a gleam of amusement. That's what it was. Kagome stormed by him carelessly.

She didn't even stop to look at him. She just kept walking, although she did spare him one final statement before she left for good.

"It was nice meeting you, asshole!"

---O---O---O---O---O---O---

"What the hell did you say to her?!" Inuyasha demanded to know.

"I said nothing that related to your relationship with that wench." Sesshomaru grimaced at his younger brother, "Perhaps you should blame yourself."

"I swear to god!" Inuyasha spat out, "You're living here for one fucking day and you've already fucked me over! You're a piece of shit, Sesshomaru!"

Sesshomaru smirked, a rare but effective occurance. "This new arrangement may just be better than we both expected." he sarcastically stated, "Don't you agree?"

"Screw you!" Inuyasha snarled as he rushed from Sesshomaru's patronizing view to his bedroom, the note Kagome had dropped at his feet was crumpled into a little ball in his hand. What the fuck brought all this on? First his father had announced that Sesshomaru, his older brother and the biggest asshole to reside on the planet, would be living under the same roof from now on, then he learned that Sesshomaru would be attending his school as a senior, and now his girlfriend spazzed out on him and stormed out of his house all because he thought it'd be alright to give Kikyou a quick ride back home?

'I wonder if there's any chance she found out about..." Inuyasha's thoughts trailed off. No, there was no way she could have found out. Only he and Kikyo knew about what happened earlier that day and he knew Kikyo would never tell Kagome. Why would she? He clenched his fists. This was definitely Sesshomaru's fault! He had come from his room to find that Sesshomaru was interigating his poor Kagome. He'd fucking pay with his right arm if he ruined Inuyasha's chances with her! For once, Inuyasha was genuinely happy. Kagome meant everything to him. He had to get her back.

Inuyasha clumsily fell onto his bed and turned his playstation on. Today was just not his day, was it? He heard his ringtone going off and searched desperately for his phone, praying to god it would be his Kagome calling, ready to take him back. He looked at the screen. Kikyo's name was displayed brightly. He sighed and answered, "Hey, what's up?"

Her voice sounded shaky and frail on the other line. "Inuyasha, we need to talk."

"Kikyo." Inuyasha groaned, "We already talked. Nothing can happen between us. It's over, alright? I'll always be here for you... as a friend. But I don't want anymore repeats of what happened today and---"

"Look, that's not it!" She desperately cut him off, "It's about Naraku. He's..." There was a click.

"Shit, the call ended!" Inuyasha tried redialing Kikyo's number. It went straight to her voicemail. Without sparing a second thought he grabbed his jacket and rushed out to his car. Naraku wouldn't hurt Kikyo ever again. Not as long as he was there to protect her.

"I want you to know, son, that I won't allow any unnecessary competition with your brother. You're both a bit too old for those kind of shananigans."

Sesshomaru nearly snickered at his father's condescending remark. What would make him think he'd have any need to compete with Inuyasha? Quite litereally, he surpassed Inuyasha in every aspect. It was almost an insult to indicate such a thing.

"I heard what traspired earlier with Kagome from my room." Inutaisho admitted, his voice lowering, "I don't blame you for whatever problems they are having in their relationship, but you had no right to interrogate her like you did. I consider that girl part of the family, do you understand?"

Sesshomaru stared at the wall, refusing to meet his father's gaze. "She's amusing." he finally managed to say, "I question what she ever saw in Inuyasha to begin with."

"Don't be silly." Inutaisho grinned, "She and Inuyasha are like peas in a pod. Don't come between them."

Something dark and evil invaded Sesshomaru's brain. It was a delightfuly awful thought. He rather liked the way he thought sometimes. "One wouldn't be coming between them if they have already broken up, correct?"

"Incorrect." Inutaisho frowned now, "Sesshomaru, let them work things out. You don't even know the girl. What reason do you have to get involved?"

'What other reason but to further piss off my rough-mannered, little brother?' Sesshomaru thought but he said nothing else regarding the subject. He couldn't let his uptight father ruin such a perfect plan. "I'm through with this conversation." he announced dully, turning for the door, "Goodnight."

Author's Note: Sorry! I realize this wasn't a very good, long, first chapter but if you'd like the chapters to persist and increase in length you've gotta rate, review and let me know you're liking the idea. I don't wanna write for nothing, you know?

Anyways, if you have a question ask and I'll be sure to answer it after every updated chapter. If I don't get to you that means I had a lot to answer and I'm sorry.

As I've mentioned, I used to be Sesshomaru_Sweetie. I'm changing my style of writing so I need your help to know which way to go. Let me know and thanks for reading. ^_^
