Good

Kagome sat in the hut thinking.

Thinking that it had been a little over eight years since she fell down Japan's version of a rabbit hole.

Thinking about the continuous search for the shards.

Thinking about the final battle.

Thinking about what happened after the final battle.

A feeling of awe swept over her as it always did when it crossed her mind.

After all, it had been so shocking.

Hell, Sango had sat silent for a good two minutes with eyes and mouth extremely wide open after she'd told her what had happened.

Of course, who the hell expected the Lord of the Western Lands to roll up on them and say, in a very bland voice,

"While this Sesshoumaru is not impressed with you butting your nose into a fight that was clearly between myself and Naraku, I am not blind. You protected my ward with your life and I owe you a debt. Allow me to repay it by letting you scream my name in ecstasy for the next three days."

It didn't help that he had looked almost bored when he'd said it.

As she'd stared at him incredulously, he'd raised an eyebrow.

He'd been dead serious.

That had been a little over a month ago.

She hadn't seen him since he'd dropped her off at the village.....

The fourth day after the battle.

He was, after all, a demon of his word.

Which brought thoughts of her current situation forward.

Everything had a price and she was currently in front of the cashier with her wallet out......

A familiar power signature broke her out of her reverie.

He was here.

She had sent a messenger, one extremely pissed off hanyou, to request his presence.

She sighed and went out to meet him, double checking her barrier as her mind raced.

"Miko."

Damn! One would figure three days of getting fucked hoarse by said individual would get a girl bumped up the food chain a bit. This just made it all the more difficult.

"Sesshoumaru."

An eyebrow raised and she realized that she had been staring up at him silently.

"Did you call me just so you could stare at me? While this Sesshoumaru is flattered, I have more important things to tend to." His voice was cool, but his eyes were amused.

Kagome flushed and girded herself. "I have something to tell you."

"That was the point of sending the half breed, was it not?"

"Yes! I really do have something to tell you!" She rubbed a slight ache over her eye.

He stared at her expectantly.

"I... I..." She frowned as she drew a blank. This was a lot harder than she thought it would be. His attitude really wasn't helping.

"Hn. Until next time, miko." He turned with a swish of hair and strode away from her.

"I'm pregnant."

She dropped her barrier.

Her soft words made him pause and look at her over his left shoulder.

"I don't have time for games, miko. I can smell..." His nose twitched.

"That I'm pregnant. By you, no less, oh great and mighty Lord Sesshoumaru." Her tone was sarcastic as she waved her hands in the air in a rude parody of praise.

He was silent for so long she jumped when he finally spoke.

"Good."

Kagome blinked at the incongruity of the statement. What was that supposed to mean?

"Good?"

Sesshoumaru retraced his steps, his eyes staring at her belly.

Kagome's eyes widened at the wealth of emotion she saw there. His eyes were like two wells of molten gold overflowing with masculine satisfaction. What the hell was going on here?

He gave her a slow, devastating smile. It was like the sun was rising again.

"Good."
