Domesticality by MeanderSlander

Chapter One

Author's Note: I have been reading fanfiction for a long time and I've always had a desire to write. So I've written for several fandoms, never really committing myself with one particular genre, always finding inspiration here and there.

I love relationship dynamics and Kagome is a character that is easy to play with. I love her and I love her in any pairing (though I am particularly partial to the Inu brothers). Hopefully domestic_Kagome is to your liking because in this fanfic her and Sesshoumaru have a little family of their own.

I started this story about a month ago, it's been sitting on my desktop waiting to be uploaded to a website. I'm excited about sharing it with you. Read and enjoy!!!

~*~

All was quiet in the DaiInu household. The residents were slumbering in each respected bedroom. A child the age of eight, known to all as Takahiro, turned periodically under his Spiderman comforter; unconsciously clenching and unclenching a plastic transformer toy. He was gifted it by his Auntie Sango and Uncle Miroku a month ago on his birthday. Since unwrapping said toy, the youngster hasn't let it out of his sight.

The next room, located to the right of the first one mentioned, housed two individuals. Two year old twins, a boy named Makoto and a girl named Manami; a mischievous duo that never failed to get into jumbles and produce all sorts of damage. Highly intelligent and consciously cute, the twins never lacked attention, whether from strangers, family, or each other. Currently they lay peacefully in Makoto's bed.

Down at the end of the hall...

BEEP! BEEP! BE- A clawed hand crept swiftly passed its sleeping mate to swipe the alarm against a nearby wall. The action disturbed his mate's rest.

"Mmmm... Sessho, not now. I haven't brushed my teeth yet." With that said, Kagome fell right back into a light sleep.

Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes before lethargically lifting himself up. Somehow during the night he ended up on his stomach with one arm trapped between his body and bed. The other was hidden beneath his pillow.

It was Monday, a new week... his week to prepare his offspring for school and day-care. Which meant he had the honor of waking said offspring and supervising them while they tended to their daily hygiene rituals. He also had to make sure they had enough sustenance to last them till their midday meal. But first things first, he needed to take a shower, he smelled like his mate. Not that he minded smelling like his mate, he just carried on a little too vigorously last night. Lifting his arm, Sesshoumaru winced minutely, he would never admit it out loud, but he indeed smelled a little bit ripe... just a little.

Meanwhile Kagome turned over to her left side slowly opening one eye. Unbeknownst her, her timing was perfect, she caught a glimpse of her mate's backside; shoulders to calves rippling in sync with his fluid movements. She smiled goofily for a couple of seconds, mentally pinching herself. 'Somebody up there must love me.' She thought blissfully before falling back into a light sleep.

In the shower, Sesshoumaru thought of his plan of attack. Waking his eldest would be easy. The pup was never one to disobey orders. All Sesshoumaru had to do was stand at the entrance of his room and let out a sharp bark, within seconds Takahiro would be out of his bed standing at attention waiting for the next set of orders. His downfall would be the twins. They never liked to be roused in the morning, at least not by him. He has seen Kagome wake them with no problem, but he could never have such luck. They didn't listen to his bark, Manami cried when he shook her. And Makoto slept like a sack of bricks, nothing could wake the pup. With enlisting Takahiro's help, he was sure to make good time this morning.

It took Sesshoumaru a total of ten minutes to finish his shower and clothe himself. All of his suits were custom made to fit him perfectly and washed in the best soap solution made for youkai. The special solution that they were cleaned in was youkai-friendly; in short meaning that they didn't produce any undesirable odors, didn't agitate the skin and were cleaned and softened to a fault, so that a meticulous old dog like himself could have the feeling of being wrapped in a cloud-like material every day of his modern existence. It took him a while to find a shop that catered to his sensibilities. He looked high and low, far and wide. When he discovered the run down shack called Dry-Cleaning for Less, he never honored any other dry cleaning business since. Now they were a thriving business that only catered to rich successful youkai.

Finishing with the last button of his shirt, Sesshomaru decided to forgo his tie until Kagome woke up. She had this thing about always wanting to tie his tie and he had this thing about always wanting her to touch him, so it was a thing that was done every morning.

Heading out of his room, he spared a glance at his mate. Like always she had scooted to his side of the bed and like always she had a goofy smile on her face and like always she had her hand down her panties. Shaking his head, he proceeded out of his bedroom and down the hall to Takahiro's room. He barked, and instantly his pup was awake.

"Takahiro, this Sesshoumaru has an assignment for you."

"But dad..." he began, but stopped when he saw his father's left eye twitch. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes with the hand not carrying the transformer, he started over. "Yes father?"

"You will go to your bathroom and commence your daily hygiene ritual. Once finished, you are to wake your siblings and send them to the bathroom that is located in between this room and theirs. This Sesshoumaru will be waiting for their arrival. Once that task is complete, you are to go downstairs and create a breakfast for yourself and your siblings. I believe milk was purchased yesterday, use it to make cereal. You have a total of 15 minutes, use it wisely pup." With that said Sesshoumaru turned around and left his pup standing at attention. He didn't get a chance to see Takahiro roll his eyes.

'He always says the same thing,' the pup thought while walking to the bathroom. 'Doesn't he know that Mom doesn't like for me to do his duties? When Mom finds out, he's gonna be in real big trouble!' Takahiro paused for a second, trying to remember his mom's favorite phrase for whenever she got mad at Dad. (She had a phrase for every one of them). 'NO MORE NOOKIE! Yeah that's it. She yells it at him whenever he does or says something that she doesn't like. By the look on Dad's face, or rather the placement of his eyelids, it must mean something really grave. She never tells me what it means and every time I ask her about it, her face gets red. I guess I'll have to ask Uncle Miroku, he's pretty cool and smart. I bet he'll know!' With that thought, Takahiro put his toothbrush on the counter and spread toothpaste on it. He had to make due with one hand; the transformer toy couldn't hold itself.

Sesshoumaru made his way to the front door to fetch the daily paper. He had a bit of reading to do. So many important stories and interesting conversations to cipher through... the comic section wouldn't read itself. After retrieving the paper, Sesshoumaru quickly headed towards the bathroom to wait for the twins.

Takahiro never had a difficult time waking up his little sister; all he had to do was tickle her. She was a sweet little thing with ebony hair and big honey eyes, pink cheeks and a button nose. She always had a smile on her face, even as Takahiro leaned over Manami in preperation to wake her up she had a sweet smile. 'I wonder what she's dreaming...' Takahiro shrugged. 'Probably something stupid and babyish.' Takahiro loved his twin siblings, but he was still an eight year old boy who lived off of video games, comic books, action figures, and cartoons. Anything not within those lines were deemed 'stupid and uncool' by him.

Manami woke up giggling. It was a cute sound.

"Ami, go get a feather from one of your pillows, I gotta wake Makoto," Manami blinked a couple of times before smiling and scurrying off to do what was requested of her.

While tickling was good to wake up Manami, Takahiro had to use different tactics on Makoto. Looking down at the pup, Takahiro's brow scrunched up. His little brother caused a lot of commotion. Commotion that was uncalled for, Takahiro couldn't understand it. Whenever he saw Makoto around a group of girls they were always surrounding him, pinching and kissing his cheeks. It didn't matter how old or young the females were, they always did the same thing. Takahiro knew that Makoto loved the attention by the way he posed with hands held behind the back, shoulders hunched, cheeks pink and ear to ear grin. Seeing this display one day, Mom joked that Makoto was on his way to becoming another Miroku. Takahiro wanted to be cool like Miroku. Makoto was weird and actually liked females. How did that make him like Miroku?

"Here your feader," Manami spoke, handing Takahiro a small white feather. He took it with his free hand.

"Here is your feather," Takahiro corrected shaking his head and trying to fix the position of his toy's arm with the hand that held the feather. "Sheesh! What do you have, candy for brains? I'd say you eat enough of it."

"Sheeh!!" Manami repeated, liking how the word sounded. "Sheesh, sheesh, sheesh..."

"Alright already, quiet down. Mom's still sleeping, you can't be too loud."

"Sorwy," Manami grinned big, before marching to the other side of the bed to watch.

Takahiro held the feather to Makoto's nose, wiggled it a few times and waited to see what happened.

Like clockwork, Makoto woke up and sneezed.

"Eeewww! Boogers!"

"Ami, there are no boogers," Takahiro sighed rolling his eyes and standing up straight. She always said that. "Go to the bathroom you two, Dad is waiting."

"Come M'koto, let's go," Manami grabbed her twin's hand and pulled him out the door.

"Daddy, I'm here!" Manami yelled letting go of her brother's hand and jumping onto her father's lap. She managed to rip his newspaper in half in the process.

"Yea! Should we celebrate?" All said in a monotone voice. Sesshoumaru loved his children, but he loved teasing them much more.

"Serebate?" Manami questioned.

"No, it celebwate," Makoto corrected climbing up his father's pant leg to sit on his lap. He let them stay there for a while. They were conversing with one another. Manami was telling her twin about her unicorn and ice cream dream and Makoto was trying to listen, but failing terribly. The little guy was nodding off to sleep.

"Enough of this talk. Makoto, Manami go get your stepping stools," They did as they were told, jumping off his lap.

Lost in his thoughts and without a paper to read, Sesshoumaru watched his pups prepare themselves. At the age of two, they had a good grasp on speech. Their vocabulary was vast for ones so young and they were quick learners. Sesshoumaru was very proud of all of his pups. He felt a knot welling in his chest that really started to hurt. His eyes began watering and he started sniffling. "::BURP!::" It was only gas.

"Eww! Daddy," Manami laughed, speaking around her toothbrush. "Say 'scuse me."

It had surprised him when Kagome birthed full-blooded inu pups. He had never heard of such a thing. Granted he was one of the strongest youkai in the world and his seed was very potent, he expected no less from his offspring. 'What an obnoxious thought to think.' He scolded himself, oddly enough once mated; all of his nagging thoughts have all started to sound like Kagome.

If Sesshoumaru were truthful with himself, he'd just say that he was clueless of what lead to his pups being full youkai instead of hanyou. He had always intended to research it, but he had a tight schedule between running a corporation, being a mate, and having the 24 hour job of being a parent; he just couldn't find the time.

Takahiro came to him a few months back with tears in his eyes, confused and upset. He told his father that some of his friends were making fun of him for having a ningen mother. His friends told him that she wasn't really his mother because ningens couldn't birth full-blooded youkai. He didn't want to believe what they were telling him, he knew that Kagome was his mother, if she wasn't, then why did he carry her scent? Takahiro went to his father for answers.

"Father, why do people think that mom isn't really my mom?" Takahiro asked standing in the doorway of his father's study.

Sesshoumaru sat silently, unsure of what to tell his son. He knew this day would come to pass, but didn't expect the subject to come up so soon. He blurted out the first thought that came to mind. It was also the first thought he had when trying to rationalize certain characteristics and circumstances that caused him to fall madly in love with Kagome. He simplified it all in one phrase.

"Because she is special," Takahiro mulled over this answer for a moment before smiling brightly and running off. Sesshoumaru watched him with a certain gleam in his eye. Already the pup was showing signs of independence and conscientious thinking. He would one day make a great leader. That's if he could tear himself away from his video games to realize that there was a world outside, beyond the latest Madden game.

"Daddy, I done," Makoto announced, rinsing his toothbrush off. His sister was too, but she was having too much fun playing with the running water to state her condition. Sesshoumaru ended the ritual by taking a terrycloth, wetting it, and cleaning his pups faces and hands.

"Have your clothes been prepared for today?"

"Yes," Makoto said lifting his chin high so that Sesshoumaru could wipe the toothpaste off that ended up there. "Mommy put 'em in da qwoset."

After finding the pups clothes and quickly dressing them. Sesshoumaru turned to leave the room, but not before he felt something pull his pant leg.

"Daddy, what 'bout my hair?" Sesshoumaru looked at Manami's hair. It was a mess. Usually Kagome would put cute styles with bows and fixed Manami's hair really nice, but Sesshoumaru didn't have such creativity.

"Hn," He grunted before hastily grabbing a brush and bow. He quickly styled Manami's hair.

"Now it is time to head downstairs to eat breakfast," Sesshoumaru led the way downstairs and into the kitchen. Makoto and Manami followed, trying their best to catch up with their father's long strides.

Meanwhile Takahiro had finished setting the table for himself and his siblings. He knew that his father would fix his own meal, so he didn't have to worry about him. The cereal choice currently was Lucky Shikon, it was chosen by default because it was his favorite and also because it was the only cereal he begged his mom to buy. It also didn't hurt that the twins tended to copy, listen and do everything he did, so trying to convince his mom on buying what he wanted always was an effortless affair. All he had to do was make sure that whenever they went grocery shopping, the twins shouted "Lucky Shikon!" as soon as they arrived in the cereal isle.

Upon arriving to the kitchen, Sesshoumaru looked around at the place settings. Takahiro did his job well, there where three bowls at the table. A cup of orange juice stood next to one bowl while two sippy cups were placed by the others. "You may take your seat and commence eating."

Takahiro nodded once and began to take his seat. It was a little difficult for him to pull his chair out with one hand, but he managed it. Sesshoumaru shook his head. 'A month and the pup still hasn't given up that ridiculous toy.' The twins had little trouble climbing up their booster seats, so Sesshoumaru decided to prepare his and Kagome's breakfast. His mate loved French toast and coffee for breakfast. She never made it though claiming that only he knew how to make it the special way that made her toes curled. At first Sesshoumaru thought it was a ploy she used to get him into the kitchen more often. But when she was pregnant with the twins, French toast was the only thing that put her to sleep at night... well that toped with sour cream and sliced dill pickles.

All too soon the front doorbell sounded. It was Jaken, the pup's caretaker while Sesshoumaru and Kagome were out making a living. He drove the pups to and from school everyday and watched over them in the afternoons before Sesshoumaru and Kagome got off of work.

"Yea! Jaken's here," Manami shouted, before shoveling a spoonful of cereal in her mouth. Sesshoumaru made a move to go to the door, but was stopped by a high pitched voice.

"Don't worry Daddy. I'll let 'em in." With that said, Makoto made his way to the door. He was a little chubby, so he couldn't quite run. Instead he did this marching walk that caused his upper body to turn right and left, but he legs to propel him steadily forward. It was cute.

Just as he was almost at the door, he was intercepted by someone who gave him a big raspberry on his chubby cheek.

"Mommy!"

"I see that you just as excited to see me as I am you," Kagome carried him the rest of the way to the door. She woke when she heard her family make their way downstairs, or rather Manami and Makoto. They were a rowdy bunch. Once she heard them, she tossed on a tee shirt and made her way downstairs. "Do you think Jaken will be excited to see you?"

"No," Makoto replied quickly, not needing to think on his answer. But that didn't deter him from giving the little toad demon hell. "Mommy your hair is sooo pwetty." He was running his hands through her wavy hair, being mindful of his claws. He loved his mom and thought she was the most beautiful person in the world. Their personalities were very similar, both were mild-mannered, loved to smile, and very charismatic without trying. They just didn't look anything alike. In fact, the only child that faintly resembled her was Takahiro. He had long black wavy hair and blue eyes, and his coloring was a peachy-crème like Kagome's also. Every other characteristic was Sesshoumaru's, from the shape of his eyes to his controlled personality.

"No my dear, my hair is a mess." Kagome stated while switching her son on her left hip, so that she could open the front door.

Makoto looked like a carbon copy of his father. He had platinum/silver hair, amber eyes, and similar face markings. He wore his hair in a short bob style. Upon seeing his first haircut, his grandparents Taro and Izayoi were speechless. Neither of their sons desired to have a short hair style and expected no less from their offspring. Obviously they were wrong because Makoto hated long hair.

"Good morning Lady Kagome. How is your day fairing?" Once upon a time Jaken was a mean nasty thing with an even ruder personality that he unabashly displayed to Kagome. Upon learning that she was a permanent fixture in his Lord Sesshoumaru's life, his attitude towards her changed. He couldn't go treated the mate of his Lord like a common human trollop. He had to treat her with the same respect as Sesshoumaru. Plus he was scared of her, he's seen how developed her powers were and couldn't chance getting the brunt of her miko powers directed towards him.

"Oh, I'm well. How about yourself?" This was common banter between the two of them.

"I am fairing, given my propensity for always getting myself kicked around." He joked while supporting his weight heavily on his short cane. They both laughed. Jaken wasn't so bad once he opened up.

"Jaken you want Lucky Sh'kon?" Manami came bouncing over to the door. "I have some left. You want it?" She went to grab his hand to take him to her vacated chair, but was stopped by Kagome.

"Manami, honey what happened to your hair?" Manami's hair was a mess! Besides from it being held loosely in a bright pink scrunchy, it looked as if someone brushed it with a brillo pad.

"Daddy did it," She said while trying to get her mom to let go of her hand. "C'mon Jaken, before it gets soggy."

"Manami, leave Jaken alone. I'm pretty sure that he has already eaten," Jaken nodded his head in agreement. His breakfast of fruit flies and gnats was accommodating enough. "Come Manami, let me brush your hair."

"Mommy doesn't like how Daddy did my hair?" Manami questioned taking her mother's hand into her own.

"No mommy doesn't." With that said they made their way upstairs.

Jaken entered into the kitchen to inform the rest of the family of his presence. "Good morning Lord Sesshoumaru and young Takahiro."

"Good morning Jaken," Takahiro said without looking up from his food. "I'm almost done; I have about two spoonfuls left."

"There is no need to rush Takahiro," Sesshoumaru was almost done with his and Kagome's breakfast. "You sister is upstairs with your mother getting her hair done. You still have a few minutes."

"I'm done!" Makoto announced with his big plastic spoon held in the air. "Daddy I dwunk all my milk!" He made his way to the sink to deposit his bowl. On his way back he stopped beside his father. "Daddy?"

Sesshoumaru foresaw this coming. He prepared extra incase his pups (mainly Makoto) wanted any. "Hai?"

"C-can I have some?" Sesshoumaru looked down at Makoto and instantly regretted it. 'A face like that should be outlawed'. He remembered Kagome saying on one occasion. He looked down at his pup and instantly melted at Makoto's wide-eyed stare and chubby cheeks.

"Hn." He couldn't deny his offspring, even if it meant that Makoto would grow to be the size of a house. He bent down to his pup and handed him half of a toast. "Go take your seat."

"Okay," Makoto said before doing his little run back to his chair. Within seconds after gaining his seat, the piece of toast was gone.

Upstairs Kagome was putting the final touches on her daughter's hair. "Manami, how fast did daddy do your hair?"

"Really, really fast like this," She made a show of flexing both hands in front of her to demonstrate. "Like ZOOM!"

"I see," Kagome said smiling slightly at her daughter's antics. "Did your daddy wake you up this morning? Did he watch you brush your teeth?" She knew how Sesshoumaru could be and knew that he always capitalized on every situation for whatever need he had. She figured that he used Takahiro to help him this morning. From the time he was in the shower to the time him and the children ended downstairs, she'd say that it took him about 30 minutes. There was no way that he could be that organized and that efficient without having some outside help, especially with twins like Manami and Makoto running about.

"No Taka woke me up. He tickled me," By this time her hair was finished.

"I see," Kagome repeated, this time with a slight frown. "Manami, you can go downstairs now and join your siblings."

"Is mommy coming?" She asked while twirling the hair on one of her pigtails.

"Yes, mommy will see you off. I just need to take a quick shower and get dressed."

"Ok, I love you! Bye bye!" With that said, Manami rushed out the door.

With her daughter gone, Kagome took a deep sigh and stood. How am I going to deal with this situation? Sess always does this, how can I teach him a lesson? She made her way to her bathroom to take a quick shower. After finishing with her shower, she made quick work of her hair and put it in a creative bun. Next was her make up which consisted of primarily blush, mascara, and sheer lip gloss. Making her way out of the bathroom, she headed towards her dresser.
