Christmas Taxi - Chapter One

"What do you mean no one is open?"

"I'm sorry miss," said a voice on the speaker while Kagome got changed. "But, all of our drivers are busy as it is." Kagome pulled on a black sweater, a groan coming from her while she pulled it down and adjusted it, "Are you sure? One hundred percent?"

"Yes, I'm very sorry miss."

Click.

"Uh yi, yi, yi! Only five more days till Christmas and this is what happens? They should have more taxi drivers." Kagome pulled on black cotton pants next. "And god knows what will happen if I drive." She put the hook through the hole while zipping up the zipper. "Shoes, shoes....." Kagome looked behind her couch, underneath the coffee table and in the kitchen. "Great, now my shoes are deciding to be evil to me." Her sapphire gaze landed on the dress shoes that her mother gave her for her birthday.

High heels. A women's nightmare if one didn't know how to walk in them. Walking toward them, she picked them up while sighing, "Just what was she thinking? I'll sell it on eBay." She went to her room and dropped it beside her bed while she saw Buyou look at her from the top of her queen sized bed, "Hey there Buyou." She walked up to him and started to pet him, a purr coming from him. "Help me find my shoes?" A meow came from him while he stood up and jumped off the bed.

Kagome once again searched in the closet, high and low but still couldn't find her shoes. "How does a pair of shoes not appear to be in my closet when-"

Meow.

"Eh?" Kagome turned her head to look out of the closet and saw Buyou had the right foot's shoe in his mouth. "Buuyouuu. What did I tell you about taking my shoes?" Buyou only put the shoe down on the floor in front of him before walking off to find the other. Kagome walked out of her closet, picked up the shoe and went to her drawer where her socks were in.

She pulled out two black socks before sitting down on her bed. Putting one sock over the other, she put the right shoe on her right foot, zipping the small zipper up on the left side. Standing up, she went to go find Buyou who was behind the T.V. meowing at, what she thought, her other shoe.

Walking over, she peeked and moved Buyou gently so she could reach and get it. "Ahh, there we go." She sat down on the floor and put it on her left foot, zipping the small zipper up before standing up once again. "I'll be back. I guess I'll just take the bus." Putting her black duster over herself, she put on her winter black hat and gloves, "Be careful Buyou and don't go in my closet."

Buyou only let out a meow. Kagome smiled and closed the door. Taking the house key from her right pocket on the duster, she turned the lock to the left and pulled it out. "Hey Kagome!" Kagome blinked and turned from the door and saw Inuyasha. "Oh...hello Inuyasha."

Inuyasha was a police officer, as well as a half-breed. Part dog, part human. How he got the job, she didn't know but, he had been very nice to her these past weeks. "Need a lift?" Kagome brought up her hands, "Oh, you don't have to Inuyasha." Inuyasha just waved her off, "I'm not on duty. Come on. Same place, right?"

Kagome sighed. It was better than the bus. "Alright." She walked to his car that he assigned to and got in the seat. Putting the seatbelt in the lock, Inuyasha drove off to the highway. "All of them were taken?"

"Yes. I wished they would just have more drivers."

"Heh, yeah. I wouldn't mind being a taxi driver. Being a police isn't really that fun."

"Maybe you should quit?"

"Nah. I'm the best one of the force. They don't know that I have a keen nose. I bet that all of the half-breed and purebred demons have my career."

"I guess. Just drop me off here please."

"You don't want me to go farther up?"

"No, no, that's okay. This is fine."

Everyone looked as the police car pulled up to the sidewalk, only to find a woman come out of the front seat. "Thank you Inuyasha."

"No problem. I'll be here to pick you up."

"Oh-but-you don't really-"

"I promise I'll come here. Good luck in work." With a wave, and roll up with the window, he drove off. Kagome only sighed while brushing her hand through her hair before walking toward the building she worked at. "Maybe the bus should've been the best choice." The snow crunched underneath shoes, which seemed to calm her nerves down a little.

The doors of the building automatically opened with a swish, letting her walk in and close behind her. "Hey Kagome!" A woman behind a desk decorated with Christmas decorations waved at Kagome. "Hey Sango!" She walked over to her best friend who put out her hands at the decorations. "Don't you just love it? I bought them last night. I couldn't resist. I've been waiting to do this ever since I got this job."

Kagome laughed, "I have a few in my bag I'm going to put up."

"Cool, can I help?"

"That would be good."

"Sweet, I'll be there in a sec, my boss needs this file to go in the mailroom."

"Alright." Kagome walked to the stairs, which wound up like big spiral and made it to her desk that was in the corner and it looked down at the first floor while it was ten feet away from the spiral staircase. Setting her bag on her desk, she slumped into her spinny chair and turned on the computer. "Ah, there's my secretary."

"Oh be quiet Naraku."

Naraku only laughed while walking to her desk, "Well, now this is the first. Your desk isn't even decorated."

"I didn't have any time before to get Christmas decorations." Kagome moved her mouse to click on the log in button and typed in her username, password and hit enter while moving the chair back and forth. "What about you?"

"Ha. Mine's full of it, you should know that Kagome."

"I should. I need some coffee to wake myself up."

"While you're at it, how about getting mine?"

"Sure Mr. Light Coffee Man."

"Ah, ah, don't forget, one lump of sugar."

"I know, I know."

"Hey Kagome, let's put up those decorations of yours."

"I'll leave you two then." Naraku walked back to his office and shut the door. Sango opened Kagome's bag and pulled out, what it seemed, snowflakes on a string. "Nice Kagome, still going the old-school way, are we?"

"I love making them out of paper. It's so much fun."

"Alright then." Sango got the tape from Kagome's desk and started putting them in the front of Kagome's desk while Kagome took out some fake snow to put on the ground in front of her desk. "Good idea Kagome. Makes it looks realistic."

"Why'd you think I bought it?" Both of them laughed while Kagome took off her hat, running her hand across the top of her head while putting her hat on the rack she bought a few days ago. "This tape is a pain in the ass Kagome, however do you handle it?"

"I'm used to it."

"I would never get used to it. I'll buy another one. Ow! Mother-"

"My, my, Sango. Cursing when it's almost Christmas?"

"Oh, shut up Miroku. You're one as well."

"Last time I checked, I haven't screwed with anyone's mother."

Sango stood up while groaning, "You're hopeless Miroku."

"Helping Kagome with her decorations?"

"Good job Captain Obvious."

Kagome giggled while putting her coat on the rack as well, "Come on Miroku, you're smarter than that, unless you lied about your resume."

"I assure you that I didn't lie."

"What else do you have in here Kagome? What the-you even got a stuffed-animal of a reindeer?"

"Yes. I couldn't just leave the store before buying him."

"Alright then." Sango put it down on the desk before pulling out a line of lights, "Please tell me you bought-my god you did."

"Of course I bought hooks for them. I'm not going to use tape, plus, that'll just mess up where everything is on my desk."

"Which is thankfully, and surprisingly, organized."

"Hey!"

"Well, I'll just leave you two ladies later."

"Yeah, okay bye Miroku."

"I think you like him Sango."

"Oh be quiet you."

Kagome only giggled while helping Sango with the lights and putting the hooks on the edge of the desk. "Thank goodness you don't need to drill screws on this."

"I made sure I didn't need to, otherwise, the company would have my head."

"That's true, especially Naraku. The neat and clean boss of yours."

"Ka-aago-oome-ee."

"And very impatient."

Both of them laughed while Naraku crossed his arms, "I need my coffee now you know."

"Alright, alright." Kagome stood up and started walking toward the stairs, "I'll be back soon since Mr. Whiney needs his coffee." Both of them laughed while Naraku went back in his office with a close of his door. Sango started pulling out more decorations that Kagome brought, surprised that all that fit in there. "Next thing I'll know is that she's the next Mary Poppins."

"Well, about time you came to the office. You're getting later and later Inuyasha."

"Oh be quiet Kouga."

"You're seeing that woman aren't you?"

Inuyasha shrugged, "So what if I am?"

Kouga shook his head, "You know....the chief won't be very happy."

"Not my fault. She should understand, right? Christmas is coming soon."

"Yeah. The busiest time of the year as well. You better start doing your job and not seeing that woman."

"I've been coming to work, have I not?"

"Late. You've been late this past week."

Inuyasha waved him off, "You're just jealous man."

"I'm serious. Two more late days and you're off. I heard the chief complain about you."

"Keh, I'll be fine. I won't be late."

"That's not what you should be worrying about Inuyasha. I want you to work later tonight." Kouga and Inuyasha looked at the aisle and saw Kagura there in her police uniform. The chief herself.

The bitch to be more exact.

"What? Later?"

"You heard me." Kagura walked up close to him, her hair that was normally up, was now down in raven and wavy waves. "It's to make up for you being late every day."

"Oh come on-"

"Thanks, you're a good boy." Kagura smirked before walking back down the aisle. Inuyasha crossed his arms. He watched Kouga brought up his arms at defense when he moved his gaze over to him, "Hey, I warned you so many times. Did you listen? No."

"Just shut up."

"And there's the last decoration." Sango put the small Christmas tree up, which was very small and had little lights on it already. Kagome plugged it in and it lit up.

"I say we did a job well done." They gave high fives to each other while Kagome put the bag underneath her desk, "Yup, we sure did."

"Oh. Wow, your desk is........white." Sango and Kagome looked up at Kikyou, who looked at Kagome's desk with a snobbish look. "Unlike yours Kikyou, it's in the season and average-not packed jam." That only made Kikyou smile elegantly, "What can I say, I have to beat your pathetic taste in fashion."

"At least I don't go overboard."

"I'm a hard worker-what do you expect?" Kikyou let out a chuckle before continuing to walk toward Naraku's office. Sango and Kagome shook their head at her swishing form in the red suit she was dressed in. "I swear that she's the Ice Queen."

"If they were looking for people for the play, she would win automatically right when she walks in onto the stage looking at the judges with that smile on her face as well as her brown eyes filled with ice."

"You said it."

The day wore on, the bright, but cloudy sky, soon let the dark roll in but, the small snowflakes still fell down, making them looking like the clouds were shedding.

"There, last form submitted into the database." Kagome leaned back in her chair before looking at her clock at the bottom right corner of her monitor. It read ten and she should be going home now.

"Go home Kagome, you've done enough."

"I guess. Nothing else to do."

"Have fun going back home with that police officer of yours." Kikyou chuckled while walking by. "Oh yeah? Hope you get fun with that pole inside your house that I can see in outer space-oh wait-that's your flag pole. Whoops."

"Hm." Kikyou walked toward her desk like a big-shot, "Unlike you, my body is men's weakness."

"Yeah, making you look like a slut. Good job Kikyou, just disgrace the women race even more. That's why some guys go gay-tired of women like you who hurt them in every way." Kagome stood up, her computer now shutting down, while Kikyou shot her a look, "You're getting jealous by the minute since you've-"

"Just shut up you bitch. I don't care about sex! I want someone who will love me for who I am!"

"A hopeless romantic."

"A smart one thank you. Unlike a pole dancing fucking slut who doesn't give a shit what others feel." Kagome walked down the stairs, each step quick but hard while Kikyou watched the young employee walk out of the building.

"Huh? He's not out here." Kagome looked up and down the street for the officer's car to come and pick her up. With a sigh, she opened her cell phone and called Sango's number. She didn't really feel like going back in the building since Kikyou was in there still, over working as always.

"Hey, already home?"

"No. He's not here yet."

"Oh."

"He promised he would be here to pick me up."

"Hey, hold on just a second. Someone else is calling me."

"Okay."

Kagome paced around a bit while looking down at the snow covered ground before looking up at the sky. "Hey, I'm back."

"I don't know what to do. The bus doesn't come until an hour."

"The one who called me is a taxi driver. He's going to come and pick you up."

"Wha-what? Are you serious?"

"Of course. He said it's okay since he's open."

"Oh my god.....thank you so much Sango."

Within five minutes, a taxi with Christmas lights that blinked on and off pulled up, the grill in the front had a wreath hanging off of it. "I guess......this is it." Kagome walked to the back door, opened it and got in. She pulled the door close and put on her seat belt.

"Where to?"

"Oh, um, 6429 Freterek Dr."

"Ah, not too far away."

"Your lights....they're very...."

"Over the top?"

"Well, yes-I mean no-it's just that-I've never seen that before."

"I've always wanted to but forgot to buy the lights every year. But, I remembered this time."

"You did a great job then. It kind of made me smile inside."

"Really? It made other people laugh when getting in."

"I could see why, we've never seen anything like it before-especially on a car."

"Well, there's a first time for everything."

Kagome looked out the window, watching the things pass by in the snowy but crisp night. "Thank you so much for coming."

"You're welcome. Your other ride didn't come on time, I take it?"

"Yeah....he didn't come. But, he's a police officer so, something must've come up."

"Police officer? Well, look at you."

"I really don't see him that way."

"Makes you uncomfortable?"

Kagome blinked and looked at him puzzled, "Yeah, how did you know?"

The driver started laughing, "Don't think I don't know. We get uncomfortable too when a women is being way too flirty." Kagome started laughing, "Like someone I know at work."

"Oh, the whole package?"

"Maybe an extra with that package." Kagome was surprised. She was really comfortable talking with this driver. Tilting her head to the right, she looked at the rearview mirror but only saw his forehead. When she was about to ask something, they finally reached her house. "Here we are. That'll be five hundred yen."

"Oh." Kagome opened her purse and took out five one hundred coins and gave it to him. "Wait." She gave him another, "A tip." Then, it all slowed down when she caught his face.

Silver hair cascaded down his face, his bangs in front of golden eyes with magenta looking eye shadow while his forehead was adorned with a navy crescent moon. On his high cheekbones were two strips of magenta while his face was chiseled perfectly. Each feature of him fit with the other.

'Oh.....my.....'

"Thanks. Not that much people give us tips."

Shaking her head to get out of trance she only smiled, even though he wouldn't see it, "I'm one of those few who do. Thank you once again. Oh-and if you don't mind, please be here at nine in the morning?"

"Sure. Just don't have a heart attack."

Kagome blinked, not sure what he meant but let that be pushed aside, "Thank you once again." She opened the door, stepped out and shut it, watching it drive away. Little did Kagome know that the driver had seen her smile, and had watched her most of the time of the ride. Walking to her front door, she took out her keys and opened it. Buyou meowed while she stepped in and closed the door, locking it in the process. "Hello Buyou." She really needed a coat rack with the top hooks for hats.

"How was your day boy?" She bent down and picked him up, "Oh! You're getting heavier and heavier." Buyou pawed at her cheek while his tail swished against her hair. "Buyou!" Kagome started giggling, "You silly cat." She sat down in the couch and turned on the T.V. "Guess who I met?"

Buyou adjusted himself on her lap, rubbing against her stomach in a way of saying "tell me."

"I met a very nice man. Although, I don't think he's a man. My miko senses didn't pick up a demon aura from him but-those markings are really odd......" Kagome looked ahead in a blank look. Buyou meowed while standing up to paw at her chest, "Oh! I'm terribly sorry. But-I get to see him tomorrow. He's very easy to talk with, like when I talk to you. Although, I don't get what he said about not having a heart attack. Maybe he's a psychic?"

Buyou meowed deeply, which made her giggle, "Nahh, he can't be a psychic if he was a taxi driver. Speaking of which, his taxi has a Christmas touch. Filled with lights and a wreath in front on the grill."

Buyou only meowed once again before lying down on his back. "Okay, okay, I'll stop." Kagome picked up the remote with her right hand and put on the T.V.

-+-

"So, did you get her at her home safely?"

"Of course. She asked me to get her at nine in the morning."

"See, I'm very helpful."

"At times."

"Hey! You didn't tell her, did you?"

"No. I masked my aura but she saw my markings."

"Well, you better tell her soon otherwise she's going to get on your sorry ass."

"Beautiful choice of words but.....her getting on my ass is giving me images."

".....yeah, I'm getting them too. Doesn't look pretty. Well, I gotta go now. And tell her soon!"

"I will....." Sango hanged up before he smirked while flipping his phone with a flick of his hand going up, "...in my own way."

Raye:SesshyFan: Alright, another AU from me :D But, this time-one about a taxi driver XDD I got this idea from going Christmas shopping last week with my dad and brother. I really love it when you guys do review rather than rate to tell me with words how you liked it or how to improve.
