Mumps

Kagome stood in awe at the castle before her.

The grand towers and several levels seemed to beckon her and all she could do is stare.

Never, in her whole life, had she ever seen anything so huge! It was just...huge!

Kagome looked up and up until she couldn't lean her head back anymore and she still couldn't see the tip of certain places.

She sighed as she felt the annoyed presence behind her and realized that today was not only the weirdest day ever but also one of the most riveting.

--Flashback--

"Hello brother." Came Sesshomaru's smooth voice.

Kagome and InuYasha looked at the taiyoukai in front of them and Kagome silently cursed letting Sango and Miroku leave, seeing as Sesshomaru was a powerful adversary.

"What do you want you bastard?" InuYasha demanded, withdrawing tetsaiga with a swift, fluid motion.

"I did not come to fight." Sesshomaru replied coolly.

"Then what the hell do you want?" InuYasha demanded, his anger rising.

"I want nothing but I require your miko." Sesshomaru announced.

"You can't..." InuYasha started but what cut off.

"For what reason do you require me Sesshomaru?" Kagome asked the taiyoukai.

"Kagome are you fucking crazy? Who cares!" InuYasha fumed.

"It seems Rin has caught some sort of human despise that my healers do not know. They have suggested finding a miko, such as you." Sesshomaru replied in a bored tone.

"I hope she dies!" InuYasha yelled out.

"Sit!" Kagome announced loudly, watching as InuYasha's face plumited into the ground.

"I'll come with you to heal Rin but only If you give your word that you will return me unharmed when I request." Kagome told Sesshomaru.

"Very well." Sesshomaru replied, bored once again.

"Kagome how long are you going to go with that bastard?" InuYasha demanded.

"Maybe forever. Besides, you have Kikyo now." Kagome bit back, only pissed off because of his comment about Rin.

She had long since squished her feelings for InuYasha. He was a waste of her time and feelings. Yes, it hurt when she had found out about his mating to Kikyo but if he was happy then she was fine.

And now she had to go help a sick little girl, wither he liked it or not.

Kagome walked over to where Sesshomaru stood, leaving InuYasha gaping behind her.

In an instant Sesshomaru had wrapped his arms around Kagome's waist and transformed into a ball of light, transporting them instantly to his castle.

--End Flashback--

Sesshomaru watched the human in front of him. She was in awe and he didn't know why.

"Miko, if you are done staring blindly at the sky I will take you to Rin." Sesshomaru announced, startling Kagome.

"Oh...yeah...right." Kagome replied, letting Sesshomaru enter his castle and following him silently.

Kagome knew the outside of the castle was beautiful but inside was even more beautiful. It was decorated very regally and it was all done in the colors of the western lands...dark blue, black, blood red and white.

Sesshomaru led the way to where his ward was.

He had no doubt that the miko could heal Rin. He just hoped it wasn't too late.

He opened the door to let Kagome in and heard her...laughing.

Kagome was laughing as she walked over to Rin.

"Miko why do you laugh?" Sesshomaru demanded.

Rin looked at Kagome and smiled; only causing Kagome to laugh more.

"Oh Rin, you're so cute." Kagome laughed, sitting on the bed beside Rin and putting her hand to her forehead.

"Is Kagome going to make Rin better?" Rin questioned.

"Don't worry Rin; you'll be fine in no time." Kagome chuckled.

She stood up and walked over to the demon lord that stood in the corner, glaring at Kagome.

"She has the mumps." Kagome told him, trying not to laugh.

"For what reason do you think this is humorous?" Sesshomaru seethed.

"Look at her Sesshomaru. The mumps is the kids 'disease' that you get and laugh about because you resemble a chipmunk. I think it's funny because when I had it I was way worse than she was. Its curable don't worry. The only thing she need is a lot of sleep and lots of fluids." Kagome told Sesshomaru, sighing at the memories of her childhood.

Sesshomaru just nodded and walked back over to Rin.

"Rin, you will do as the miko says." Sesshomaru told his ward.

Rin nodded, smiling.

Sesshomaru walked back over to where Kagome stood.

"I will send a servant up with water." Sesshomaru told her.

"For the record Sesshomaru...my name is Kagome. Ka-go-me. Not miko, not wench, not wench or any other name you can think of. Kagome!" Kagome told him.

Sesshomaru gave her a quite 'hn' and left.

Kagome walked back over to where Rin sat in her bed as a servant flew in with water.

Kagome was surprised at the fast delivery of water but chalked it up to Sesshomaru's impatience and ego.

She let Rin have a drink of water and watched as the girl faded into a light sleep with a smile on her face.

Kagome made herself comfortable and let her smile slip.

'Oh Kagome, what are you going to do now? You know you can't go back to InuYasha, he'll kill you. You can't go to Sango and Miroku, they're a family now. You can't go home, nice choice sealing the well. What are you gunna do when Sesshomaru asks you to leave?' Kagome asked herself.

She sighed, knowing she had no answers.

She looked at the little girl beside her and smiled as she brushed a stray hair out of the girls face.

If ever Kagome would have a daughter she hoped she would be as cute as Rin.

Kagome let her hand slip and her eyes close.

Oh what was she to do now? Rin would heal within a week and then...then she would be of no use to Sesshomaru...no use to anyone.

Kagome let herself slip into a light sleep beside Rin.

Outside the door Sesshomaru stood, his hand near the knob.

He had wanted to go in when he caught onto Kagome's thought pattern.

Sesshomaru withdrew his hand and stalked away, his mind full of questions he had no answers to. And for once, he did not know how to obtain the answers.

I shall update soon, promises. For the record I am listening to the theme song of Jeff Hardy, whom I love. If you don't know who that is...he's a wrestler...a sexy wrestler. Anyways, review!
