Chapter 1

It was six o' clock in the morning and Kagome didn't want to wake up. Today was her first time going to an early class. As her alarm went off she slammed it in a hurry to shut it up.

"Oh why did I have to pick such an early class time? I wonder if anyone even wakes up this early in the morning." She mumbled in a sleepy tone.

As Kagome got dressed she decided to wear jeans with a blue halter-top and a jean jacket. She thought the apparel was fine so she headed out the door.

She hurriedly went down stairs to the first floor of the apartment and went out the door when she forgot something and had to go back up stairs to the 2nd floor.

"Damn it!!! I forgot my backpack." Kagome shouted out loud. 'I wonder if I would have time to get something to eat now?'

When Kagome came back out she rushed to the corner at the light. 'Come on light, change so I can cross.' She shouted in her mind.

After about 10 minutes she arrived at the Tokyo University. It was a great school that was mixed with all different kind of students, youkai and human alike went to school in piece. Kagome was about to head through the door when she noticed her friend Junsui cross the street and was heading her way.

"Hey Kagome!" Shouted a girl with light brown hair with blue-green- red eyes.

"Hi Junsui. Your taking the morning classes too."

"Yeah, I wanted to take the early classes so I don't have to take the night courses. I wanted to practice more on my archery, you know I'm almost as good as you now." Junsui laughed at how bold and confident she sounded.

Kagome started giggling. "You're so funny Junsui. Are you ready to go inside? We might be late to class. I heard that Mr. Amai Atsukau doesn't like his students to come in late."

As Kagome and Junsui walked into class, Kagome noticed a familiar face.

"Hey Makoto!! How are you doing? I haven't seen you in ages." Kagome said excited that her best friend from when they were little was here to.

"Hi Kagome. Have you finally decided to go to the morning classes now?" Makoto almost mumbled while trying to tell Kagome a simple hi. He wouldn't admit it but when he was around Kagome he would get nervous and would almost be unable to talk at all. He also wouldn't admit it to her that he really liked her . . . a lot.

"Yeah, but I wish I got some coffee before coming. I'm really tired. I was up almost all night. I was practicing my powers and I think I overdone it because the next second I blacked out suddenly and I woke up this morning with an enormous headache."

"Why were------"

Before Makoto could finish, the bell rang for classes to start and Kagome and Junsui went to the 5th row three rows above Makoto. As Makoto watched them go he was looking at Kagome dreamily and had to stop himself from drooling. ~Why are you staring at her you BAKA!!~ Makoto heard in his mind. Ever since he was little he could hear people's thoughts and what they really want to say. When he regained his focus towards the front of the class he felt someone on his right tap him unexpectedly.

With his thoughts still on Kagome he turned around. "What's wrong Emi?" He asked a little concerned.

Emi was so afraid to ask Makoto if he liked Kagome she almost gasped when she finally said it. "Oh, it's nothing important, but can I ask you a question?" She whispered.

Makoto wondered why Emi was blushing. "Sure Emi, you can ask me anything." He said while smiling his charming smile that could make a girl faint.

'I can't believe I'm asking him this!!' She mentally shouted to herself. "Do you like Kagome?" She asked without looking at him directly.

'So that's who was talking in their mind so strongly but why, is Emi jealous.' When he realized what Emi had asked him he couldn't speak. Emi's question hit the spot and instantly made him turn from peach to heart red. Emi knew her assumptions were right because Makoto didn't even answer her and she hoped she didn't speak her thoughts to strongly in her mind because she didn't want him to know that she was jealous. She didn't want to show her disappointment, she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of him. She did not want to tell him that she liked him . . . a lot.

Makoto was so embarrassed to answer Emi's question because truth be told he couldn't admit to Kagome that he liked her . . . a lot. He kind of figured that Emi already knew his answer because she never pursued the question further.

Later into class Kagome had put her head down for a second and some how fell asleep. She was dreaming of a beautiful moment when time seemed to stand still.

'They were at the park. The sun was shining and they were under a cherry blossom tree, talking about how they felt about each other. Kagome was like a ghost just watching those two people in love. All of a sudden she was right in front of them. A girl she presumes, face lit up and she noticed that the girl was her from about 2 years ago. A time when she was happy and almost carefree. She leaned closer, the man, was . . .'

BOOM!!!

"Aahhh!!! Kami, that hurts!" Kagome yelled at the top of her lungs while rubbing the very painful bump on her head. She almost fell unconscious.

A couple people were laughing and snickering.

"Ms. Higurashi!! I advise you to not sleep in my class. There will be consequences next time if you repeat these actions again." Mr. Atsukau said in a stern but harsh voice.

"I am so sorry sensei, it won't happen again." She bowed her head shamefully and was uncomfortable. She heard a few people whispering out loud and talking about her in her mind. She also felt like everyone in the class was starring at her mercilessly.

When Kagome put her head up she heard someone talking in her mind. ~I hope she's all right?~ When she looked around to see who said that she noticed Makoto was smiling at her charmingly. So that's who said it. Kagome smiled back and went back to work. 'Real smooth Kagome. What a bad first impression. I hope there's no other mind reader's out there I really already feel embarrassed.'

After Makoto heard Kagome in her thoughts by accident he started to giggle a little bit.

As Kagome finished taking notes she took a quick glance at her watch. She had been sleeping for about 15 minutes. Now that she thought about it, she had a really weird dream about the past and it made her heart ache with immense pain. She thought maybe the dream was trying to tell her something or trying to tell her what might happen in the future from the past. 'Oh kami, please don't make me suffer anymore.'

RING!!!!

'Finally, I can go figure this all out.' It was a good thing she decided to take her laptop with her. She finally had a chance to type up her latest romance novel and try to at least forget about that odd dream.

The taiyoukai Sesshoumaru was dreaming of a time when he was with the woman he loved.

'They were surrounded by cherry blossoms in a never-ending cycle. They were smiling at each other warmly with much affection. Before he knew it, he was in front of the 2 figures. The mans face lit up right before his eyes. He was surprised to find out that the man was in fact him from 2 years ago when he was very much in love with a woman who had hidden talents that he still didn't know about. He leaned in closer to get a glimpse of the woman and she was . . .'

Beep. Beep.

Before Sesshoumaru could figure out who the woman was in his dreams his alarm clock woke him right in the middle of finding out who she was.

'What is happening to me? It feels like some new emotions have been unlocked some how inside me once again.' Sesshoumaru felt odd at these things you call emotions. He Sesshoumaru was a demon lord said to have no emotions what so ever, ever since he left the woman called Kagome. He also wondered what the dream meant.

Later that very same day Sesshoumaru decided to go to the park for some fresh air and to think about the dream again and what it meant. He had put the thought at the back of his mind while at school. He had been attending Tokyo University for almost a month now and the women he thought were getting boring and they clung to him too much now.

When Kagome got to the park, she found the perfect place with a bench in the shade under a beautiful cherry blossom tree. The wind was blowing softly making her hair seem to float around her.

"This is the perfect spot." 'I should get lots of work done here, right?' Just when she sat down a familiar voice came up from behind her and scared her just a little bit.

"Hello Kagome. How are you? I haven't seen you ever since Sesshoumaru left you for that other woman." A man with a boyish tone spoke.

As Kagome turned around she had a silver light around her and it was getting bigger by the second.

"Inuyasha, you jerk. How could you say that right in front of me?!!!" As soon as Kagome spoke the intense silver light shot right at Inuyasha and sent him flying a couple feet away from her with immense anger.

"OW Kagome, why did you do that for? That really hurt you know. You could have purified me if you weren't careful."

"Well sorry, it's not like I meant to. You should have never said anything in the first place, especially if it's about Sesshoumaru, okay." Kagome yelled at him.

As soon as Kagome said that Inuyasha just remembered what he said and felt really bad for her. He knew is brother was an asshole at times but he really did it when he dumped Kagome but it wasn't his fault, is parents made him because she was a miko. If his family knew the secret that he knew about Kagome that she was also part inu-youkai they would have never made his brother get rid of her in the first place.

"I'm sorry Kagome, I didn't mean to hurt you, I guess it just slipped out." Inuyasha bowed his head shamefully. "But Kagome, I know your secret, you know about you being an inu-youkai."

All of a sudden Kagome blushed but didn't know it. "How did you find out, I mean, I never told anyone, not even my friends." Kagome felt mad, but also felt relieved that now she had someone to share her secret with besides just her mom.

"Do you remember that time when you were in the forest gathering some medicinal herbs when you suddenly blacked out from something that was in the air? Well, I was about to go get you when suddenly there was a flash of silver light and when I looked back you were like a whole other person. Your blue eyes had silver in it and you had silver streaks in your raven-black hair, you even had claws like Sesshoumaru. You, didn't even look half youkai at all, you looked full-blooded."

Kagome was happy that Inuyasha didn't find out about her being Sesshoumaru's mate.

Kagome sat on the bench and let out a deep breath. "I've actually been this way ever since I was a child. I've kept it bottled up for fear of someone who might try to hurt my family. My mom and I already have enough problems as it is. As the year's went by it became easier to control because of my miko powers." Kagome let out a heavy sigh and continued. "When I was with Sesshoumaru I realized how hard it was to control around him and it became difficult to be with him. When I got used to it, I was still having a little bit of trouble, especially when he used to caress my cheek before he kissed me." Kagome looked up at Inuyasha and looked into his eyes and spoke. "I'm actually happy that I have someone to talk to about this. I feel so relieved."

Inuyasha realized that Kagome said her and her mom, but what about her father.

"Kagome . . . what happened to your dad?" Inuyasha knew he hit the spot when he saw tears running down Kagome's face and felt like he should apologize.

"I'm sorry Kagome. I didn't mean to make you feel bad or anything."

Kagome bent her head down and spoke the best she could. "That's alright Inuyasha . . . I'll tell you what happened that fateful night when the moon shown brightly in the sky.

Inuyasha sat next to Kagome and listened to what she had to say.

Kagome wiped her tears away and began with a heavy sigh.

"That night . . . I was only six and didn't understand what had occurred at that moment. My dad and I were going out to get some ice cream. When we were about two blocks or so away I saw a car coming right at us. We were about to head through the intersection when the car t-boned us. Many of the doctors said it was a miracle that I survived, but later that very same day my dad died from his injuries. I didn't know what death was until I was older when I could fully understand the meaning."

Kagome paused because of her aching heart and how it felt even more broken now. For the past 20 years Kagome's heart had been stitching its self up.

Inuyasha didn't even know how hard it was for Kagome when she lost her dad.

Kagome wiped some newly fresh tears from her face and continued. "I remember his exact words he told me before the ambulance arrived. He said, 'Don't worry Kagome . . . what ever happens you know your father loves you.' That's when suddenly he transformed into his demon form. He told me he would survive in his demon form, but he didn't have the heart to tell mom and said it would be better this way. He transformed back into his human form and said I have the power to change into a demon as well. Before he could even tell me how . . . he closed his eyes and said good-bye. I felt so sad when my mom told me he would never wake up again. That was the last time I saw him before he left this world."

Inuyasha saw new tears rolling down her face and lightly wiped them away.

"I'm sorry for your loss. I never knew your dad died." Inuyasha said with said eyes.

"That's alright Inuyasha, his death wasn't in vain or anything it was just an accident that no one could have prevented."

After Kagome was finished talking Inuyasha spoke softly. "Kagome, I want to . . . ask you something."

"Yes . . . what is it Inuyasha." Kagome answered.

Inuyasha blushed a little while asking. "Do you know where Kikyou is? I heard she caught a cold. It has been a week already and she hasn't been back yet. I'm really worried for her. How is she doing?" He asked concerned.

"Yeah, I do. She has been really sick with something but she is recovering. She probably will be back tomorrow."

"Oh, okay. Can you tell her I said hi for me and that I wish her well?" He mumbled while blushing a tomato red. He hoped no one other than Kagome would notice him blushing like an idiot in love.

Kagome started to laugh at the way Inuyasha looked making people around them stare in interest to the conversation. He also felt happy that Kagome had warmth back in her eyes after talking about her father's death. "Shut up you baka, people are staring." Inuyasha shouted. "Sorry Inuyasha, but sure I'll tell her what you said." Kagome really wanted to ask Inuyasha about how his brother Sesshoumaru was. To be honest she still cared a lot for him even though he dumped her for another demoness.

As Inuyasha glanced at his watch he noticed that he was going to be late to his next class if he didn't leave right now, but he had to tell Kagome the truth.

"Before I leave I wanted to tell you that Sesshoumaru was deeply in love with you. He didn't leave you because of some other demoness. To tell you the truth he's sick of her."

As Kagome heard those words 'he was deeply in love with you' her heart began to pound heavily. "Then why did he break up with me in the first place if that wasn't the reason?"

"Our family didn't approve of the fact that you were a miko. They didn't want Sesshoumaru to end up like me, you know like how I like Kikyou. So they made him break up with you. Sesshoumaru was furious but couldn't disobey them of risk of being exiled from his title of Lord of the Western Lands." Inuyasha felt as if the pressure was lifted from his shoulders after telling Kagome the truth.

"Oh, so that's the reason why he left me. Thanks for telling me Inuyasha you made me feel much better." Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and Inuyasha smiled back.

Inuyasha was happy to see her smile like she used to, when her smile was full of warmth.

"I have to go Kagome, I'm going to be late to class okay."

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then."

With that Inuyasha ran off with lightning speed in a flash.

"Bye Inuyasha!!! She yelled back and waved.

After Kagome sat back down and wiped her tears she took out her laptop and started typing away at her story. After a while she felt a sudden gust of wind and before she knew it, all her papers were everywhere on the grass.

"OH NO!!! My papers, there everywhere!" 'Oh Kami!! This is just my luck.' She shouted frustrated.

As she was in a rush to get her papers, she never noticed the pair of golden-amber eyes watching her with anticipation.
