Power of a Taiyoukai's Tears by InutaiyoukaiNichne

The Power of a Taiyoukai's Tears

His arms at his side knowing that he had failed. Failed in the one thing that he had sworn that he would do. She had needed him and he had failed her. What more could go wrong tonight? She was his, his from the moment that he had met her. He had known that but that didn't change the fact that it had taken him so long to make the first move with her. He didn't know why it took him so long but he died know that he didn't want to lose her not like this. So many times in the past she had given herself for other this was another one of those times. She didn't know that this time someone else wanted her to stat. he didn't tell her, he hadn't had the heart to tell her that he wanted her.

He walked over to her and looked at her frail form. What more could he do for her? She was dying right in front of him. He wanted her to know, he needed her to know but would she listen to him? Would she care about the fact that if she died he might as well follow her there into the afterlife? Her blood spilling out onto the ground around her, life her fleeing as the spring breeze. He needed her to know that he loved her maybe that would be enough for her to hang on to? Would she hang on to him and the love that they could have or would she allowed herself to go into that long dark night all alone, leaving him alone with the memories of her and the thoughts off what could have been?

He needed to hold her but her friends were right there with her. The threat gone now they joined her at her side. They knew that she didn't have long in this world but they wouldn't let him near her. Perhaps they hadn't seen the emotions in his eyes, not that he wanted them to. She was the only one worthy of that. No one else would ever get that honor if she left this world tonight. He wanted to walk up to them and tell them to leave the area so that he could talk to her but he knew that she wouldn't want him to do that. She would want the others there for her as they had always been.

So he stayed in the distance the ice that covered his features still intact as he watched the only woman that he would ever love dying right in front of him. She caught his eye and knew that he had something to say. Her heart slowing now and her breathing ragged to say the least; still she held a hand out to him. He moved slowly to her side the others around her moved out of the way to grant him access to her side. That frail white hand made of the finest china, her nails broken and blood smeared, trembled as her fingers asked for his hand in their embrace. He didn't refuse, he couldn't. He moved his gaze up her arm so thin and pale to her shoulder where the wound to her lay. The ruby red of her blood making her skin so much paler in contrast. Her eyes once alive and full of fire and love, determination and courage, now pools of pain and longing. He didn't know what to say to her all he knew was that in that moment his heart stopped as he looked at her. Her pale pink rose petal lips trying to say something to him but her musical voice just wouldn't get the words out. He wanted to know what it was that she needed to say but didn't want her to die trying to tell him. He didn't deserve that honor, he had failed her.

She reached out with her other hand to his face, both of her hands stained with her blood but he didn't care her touch was gentle like a feather on his skin. Her skin now cold and almost unfeeling for all the blood that she had lost. He didn't know what to do he had never lost anyone like this, no one meant this much to him. What did he do? What could he say? There was nothing in his entire 500 years that had prepared him to lose something so precious to him. He didn't want to lose her he couldn't.

He held her hand and pulled her closer to him so that he could hear what it was that she wanted to say. He wasn't sure now if he really wanted to know. He would regret it is what he thought was true really was.

"Sesshoumaru. . . . . . . ." she whispered the blood splattered words

"Hai Kagome." He asked her, he didn't want her to waste her strength on him but he knew that no matter what he said that she would do as she wished that was one thing that he loved about her.

"You need to know Sesshoumaru. . ."

"Save your strength don't speak now." He didn't want her to die.

"You need to know. . . . . "

"No you need to know Kagome I love you." His voice rough as he forced the words out of his mouth and into her ear. He didn't are if the others heard him all he cared about was the woman in his arms.

"You do?" she asked as more blood came from the edge of her pink rose lips

"Hai I do, more than life itself," he answered as he placed a kiss on her forehead

"I am dying aren't I?" she asked him

"Yes my love you are." His voice couldn't quite contain his tears any longer

"There is nothing that can be done then is there?" she asked her blood flowing more than it had been before.

"I don't know." He answered as a tear fell from his eye onto her pale cheek

"You're crying." She stated a little startled

"You're dying." His answer to think that he would lose her before he had loved her fully, to think that they would never have the love that they both wanted.

"Don't cry for me." Her eyes filling with her pure tears of love and regret

"I must I failed you."

"You loved me."

"I have not loved you as you should be; now I will never have the chance."

"Sesshoumaru you have loved me as only you could, know that I love you too mai gin tenshi." Her eyelids slowly falling to cover the worlds of her eyes.

"Don't you leave me Kagome! I don't want to live if you aren't here with me."

He could no longer hold back the tears and he didn't care now she had to stay with him. For far too long he had been alone stayed clod and silent now that he was there with her about to loose her he would show her that his heart was dying with her.

"I can't stay Sesshoumaru; you know that I am wounded to badly." She tried to smile, "you will live forever anyway I know that what kind of life would have you have had if you had loved me and lost me then?"

"I would have at least loved you." He buried his face in her long rich silky black hair; he didn't want to let go of her, he wouldn't.

"Sesshoumaru you must let me go. You can't let this destroy you."

"It all ready has Kagome."

"Don't let it." She pleaded with him

"Too late." He answered her truthfully

"Sesshoumaru know that forever and always my heart was yours." She said has her eyes closed on this world in front of him.

"No don't you leave me you can't do this to me I will not let you leave me like this we didn't even have a chance. Stay here love me!" his broken whisper filled the soft flesh that made up her ear.

His roar of pain filled the night with his sorrow at losing the one that his heart had longed for; for to long. She was gone lost to him at deaths hand. The Tenseiga began to pulse at his side. He pulled it from the sheath thinking that he could bring her back to him, he gently and lovingly placed her body on the ground and tried to focus on the imps from the underworld but they didn't seem to be attacking her so the Tenseiga wouldn't work the normal way. He stared at her body, what did the Tenseiga want him to do? He didn't know he couldn't tell the sword was silent. He gripped the sword so tight that his claws ended up impaling his palm and his blood ran down the shining pale blue blade of the sword, his tears were still falling like rain from the heavens.

"She is gone Sesshoumaru." Stated his brother as he approached him

"But the Tenseiga?" questioned Sesshoumaru not know what it was that the sword wanted

"Put it away she is gone you know that." Said Inuyasha as he tried to comfort his brother

"No the Tenseiga wants something but I don't know what it is."

"Sesshoumaru let her go." Insisted his younger brother

"Never she is mine and I failed her. I will not fail her in this. She loves me and I love her there has to be a way."

"My lord look at the Tenseiga!" exclaimed Jaken as he walked to stand next to Sesshoumaru

The imp was right there was something strange about the Tenseiga as he stood there about Kagome's body. The blade was no longer the pale blue that he knew from the past this time the blade of his father's fang was almost purple as it shimmered in the moonlight about them. What had caused the change wasn't obvious to anyone standing there but all Sesshoumaru knew was that the sword was starting to make its voice heard to him. He listened intently to what he sword told him.

"Sesshoumaru my master..."

"Hai Tenseiga."

"There is a way to save that which you love..."

"Please tell me anything for her life."

"Your blood has fallen on my blade, your tears still flow from your eyes, and your love pours out of you as does your sorrow..."

"Tell me something that I know not."

"Your heart has found that which you didn't have, your tears have proven that which you denied for so long, your blood has unlocked my final gift to you..."

"That is what my fang?"

"The last thing that I can do for you..."

"Tell me my fang."

"You must put me into her heart and to you she shall return..."

"I have to stab her with you?"

"Hai my master, for it is the only way for me to heal her..."

"I must impale her on your length and hope that you will do as you say?"

"I can and I will do this for you my master as my one last deed for you..."

"What do you mean your last deed for me?"

"After I do this I will no longer be able to be with you my master for my task this will complete..."

"You would vanish?"

"Hai my master hurry we don't have long to do this..."

"Domo arigatou Tenseiga for what you are about to return to me."

"It is my honor my dear master..."

Sesshoumaru placed the sword to Kagome's chest to the outraged cries of her friends. He didn't hear them though the Tenseiga was going to give to him that which Naraku had robbed him of and he would do all that the sword had told him to do. He needed her he wouldn't let anyone get in the way. He felt the pull of his brothers hands on his torn bloody sleeve; bloody because of her pure blood and ignored it. The tugs got harder as they tried to pull him away from that which the Tenseiga wanted to give to him. His growl of rage filled the air around him as he tried to fight against all of the hands now on him. As they succeeded in pulling him from Kagome's body, he lashed out he didn't care he wanted Kagome back and they didn't know what they were doing he did. He could save her all they had to do was give him the room to do it.

"Leave him alone." Came a voice from above them

"Totosai, what are you doing here?" asked Miroku who was still helping with Sesshoumaru who was fighting against them for all he was worth trying to get to Kagome still.

"Trying to keep your baka butts from getting killed. Let him do as he deems right." Said Totosai as he landed on the brown cow that he rode near the taiyoukai who was at this moment ruby eyed and looking quite vicious.

"What are you talking about Totosai?" asked Inuyasha confused

"The Tenseiga has talked to your brother you baka and the Tenseiga wishes to return to him that which your brother loves. Leave him to do what it is that the sword has told him to do." Answered Totosai knowing that this day would come for Sesshoumaru just hoping that Inuyasha would leave him alone in this one moment.

"He tried to stab her!"Yelled Inuyasha

"The Tenseiga needs to be inside of her you worthless piece of flesh!" growled Sesshoumaru as he again walked to Kagome's body on the ground. His blood still slowly making its way down the blade his tears still falling from his ruby eye, the pain of her leaving him fresh in his mind, his love for her flowing out of him, as was his sorrow at failing her.

"You mean you have to stab her body to make that stupid thing work right?" asked Inuyasha

"Leave him alone Inuyasha or you might not wake up in the morning." Warned Sango as she pulled the hanyou from his brothers' side.

"Sesshoumaru, place the Tenseiga into her heart as it told you to do then allow your blood and tears to flow down the blade, she will return to you." Said Totosai as he watched the inuyoukai that he feared so much move slowly to the ningen body on the ground.

"You are sure Totosai?" asked Miroku who watched the whole thing from beside Sango who was holding on to Inuyasha this time.

"Hai I know what the Tenseiga is doing that is part of the reason that I am here." Said the old weapon maker as he sat there watching Sesshoumaru closely

"What do you mean Totosai?" asked Inuyasha as he too watched Sesshoumaru move to the body of Kagome on the ground.

"After today there will be no Tenseiga." Came the simple answer

"stop talking like you don't know what is going on and tell us what he is going to do to her!" demanded Inuyasha

"The Tenseiga will use all that it is to return to your brother his mate. In your language Inuyasha the Tenseiga will shatter to give Kagome her life. Came the low answer of Miroku as he watched Sesshoumaru kneel down in front of Kagome's body

"Sesshoumaru's silver hair fell around him like a cloak of liquid light in the clearing that they had made around Naraku's former palace. He closed his eyes and shoved with all his might the great Tenseiga into Kagome's chest.

"No you asshole!" You can't do that to her!" yelled Inuyasha as he tried to stop his brother but he was held back by the others of the group that he traveled with.

"Shut up and watch Inuyasha." Whispered Sango as she held his arms. Miroku cast a paralyzing sutra on his forehead so that he couldn't interfere with what his brother was doing.

The Tenseiga began to glow brighter as it surrounded Kagome in its purple light. The ningen that were there watching this scene had to look away from the light that he sword was giving off. None of them knew what was happening all that they knew was that Sesshoumaru had stabbed Kagome in the chest with the Tenseiga and he was still bleeding and crying for her. He did love her he deeply loved her. Sango could only hope that her friend would be brought back to him for she didn't relish the idea of Sesshoumaru in a rage over his mate's death, a death that he thought that he could have prevented. They would have to kill Sesshoumaru if this didn't work and the y all knew it. He would be 15,000,000,000 times worse than Naraku ever thought of being. Slowly the light in the clearing began to fade and the humans once again opened their eyes. Just in time to see the Tenseiga pull from Kagome's body and shatter into a million pieces in the air above them, sending tiny purple sparks in all directions. The light from the sword now completely gone from the other they turned to see what had happened to their friend.

Sesshoumaru was holding her body close to him and concealing her from their view. Shippou who being her son didn't give a rat's ass about the taiyoukai he wanted to know if hi smother was alive or dead still. He moved from the shoulder of Inuyasha and walked slowly to Sesshoumaru and Kagome. His steps slow and cautious as he got nearer the pair on the ground. That was when he heard the voice of Sesshoumaru.

"Come here Shippou, don't fear me." His voice low only the kit could hear him

"My mother how is she?" asked the kit

"Sleeping right now." Came the soft answer

"What did the Tenseiga do to her?" asked the kit as he came up to the side of Sesshoumaru and began to look over his mother.

"Tenseiga made her youkai." His simple answer

"You mean?" asked Shippou as his eyes dried up

"Yes that is what I mean. She lives." Sighed Sesshoumaru as he placed a kiss on her forehead

"Thank you Sesshoumaru for saving my mother." Said the kit as he moved so that he could stroke his mothers long black hair.

"It isn't I that you should thank it is the Tenseiga but it is gone now. The one thing that father left to me returned to me that which I never thought that I would have."'

"That isn't necessarily true Sesshoumaru." Said Totosai as he sat on his cow.

"What do you mean Totosai you have never sought me out before what would make you do so now?" asked Sesshoumaru glancing in the direction of Totosai with a quizzing look

"Tenseiga."

"What about it?"

"I know what the sword was supposed to do today and it did; now I am here to tell you that I will create one for you."

"You mean that you knew all this time that the Tenseiga would this for me?" asked Sesshoumaru a little taken back by that revelation

"Yeah why do you think I almost called it the Death Cheater? You father wanted something different though."

"So you will make me a sword now?" asked Sesshoumaru curious about the change in the old weapons master

"Hai."

"Then I will give to you two fangs one for myself and one for my mate." Said Sesshoumaru as he say there still holding on to his mate his beloved.

"Fine you must take her home now she will awaken soon and I don't think you want her to he here in this field of blood and death." Said Totosai

"Hai."

"You know that the Tenseiga was only one piece of what was needed to bring her back right?" asked Totosai

"What do you mean?" asked Inuyasha still acting as dumb as ever

"His tears are what truly brought Kagome back to life. Had the Tenseiga not felt his grief at her passing the fang would not have been able to bring her back to him."

"I didn't know that." Answered Sesshoumaru knowing that Totosai had been talking to him really not Inuyasha

"You do now. Take care of her, I will return in a few days for the fangs." Said Totosai as he left the area.

Sesshoumaru then picked up the frail body of Kagome and headed to the western palace knowing the whole way that she would ask him upon waking what had brought her back to him. He didn't know if he should tell her though. He didn't know if he could tell her the true power of a taiyoukai's tears.
