The girl from the future

Chapter one – a strange time

Sesshoumaru could hardly believe it. The demon in front of him was as strong as he was!

He, the great Tai-Youkai of the Western Lands, Sesshoumaru, was not able to eliminate his enemy, even if he did his best to do so.

He cursed his half brother Inuyasha and his group consisting of a monk, a little kitsune and a female demon hunter.

This morning he had met them in a little forest and tried once more to get his brothers sword. Without success.

A fight began and the worthless half-breed used one of Tessaigas hardest techniques: the Kaze no Kizu. He had been completely defenceless and was forced to withdraw, but not before he also had caused his brother some deep wounds. The only problem had been, that he also got some injuries.

When he was on the way back to his castle, a huge bear-demon found him. Probably it had seen his chance to eliminate a weakened Youkai and immediately attacked Sesshoumaru.

And now they were fighting against each other for some hours.

Sesshoumaru led out a deep growl. If Inuyasha hadn't injure him like this, there would not have been any problem in fighting against the other demon and killing it. But in his weakened condition this seemed to be impossible.

He had to admit that the bear-youkai was relatively strong. Maybe he even was Sesshoumaru's equal. ... if he would have his whole strength!

He felt his energies go off more and more and knew that he had to finish the battle very quickly. He wasn't able to hold up for a long time.

He tried to dodge another attack of his enemy, but his move came too late. Again he had a deep wound at his side.

= If this is going on, he will be able to kill me. Even if I normally don't run away in this case I really should go and bandage the wounds. But don't be afraid, as soon as I have possession over my whole powers I will be back and bring this fight to an end. = he thought.

But he had no chance to go. The bear-youkai in front of him seemed to know all his actions even before he does them. And so when he tried to get away, the demon caused him another wound.

Finally he felt a sharp pain running from his shoulder to his back. And then there was a lightly tickle that went through his body.

The bear-youkai growled and wanted to attack once more when Sesshoumaru suddenly was surrounded by a bright light and finally disappeared.

The next thing Sesshoumaru knew was, that his sword Tensaiga saved him before death by teleporting him away from his enemy to a place far away. But the place where he landed wasn't expected.

It was in the air and slowly he began to fall. The wounds weakened him so that he couldn't fly and land a bit more mildly. So the well below him came closer and closer.

Then everything around the demon lord turned dark when he was in this well and he became unconscious for a while. Hardly he landed on the ground but he didn't notice it.

When he woke up, he climbed out of the well and had a bad surprise. He found himself in a completely different region.

Just some minutes ago there was a big clearing around the well, now there were strange looking houses all over there.

With his touchy senses he also could hear strange, completely unknown noises and smell peculiar odours.

He decided to transform in his doglike appearance. But not the two bigger sizes but the small one, which made him look like a normal sheep dog. Only white.

If there were any demonhunters in this strange region they wouldn't recognise him as demon instantly.

At first he had to find out where he was and how he could get back. Besides he needed some rest and should not stumble again into any fights if he wanted his wounds to heal up quickly.

With this thought he went through the little park and eyed his strange environment. He forgot his wounds completely and tried to find something he knew.

Suddenly he felt a different and strange subsoil underneath his paws. He stopped for a while and looked down.

It was a black surface which wasn't very wide and seemed to cross the nature like a simple black ribbon.

He thought whether this was the work of a demon or not. Sesshoumaru shivered. But he could not say why. Was it because of the thought how strong a demon had to be for making such a stripe which obviously covered all the trees and other plants underneath it or because of the cold wind that blew into his face and made the snowflakes around him dance in the air. He didn't know.

He looked in both directions along this nearly endless way and decided to follow this path.

If it was caused by a demon maybe he could find him and could ask where he was and how he could get back to his lands. Somewhere this way had to end and even if he didn't find anyone it would be better to follow the road than continue going through the countryside without a target.

Just when he wanted to go in one direction a strange noise made him stop.

=Whoever produces this row, he directly moves in my direction.= he thought and decided to wait and to find out, who it was. He hoped to get more information about his environment.

Suddenly a strange looking, very big demon rushed towards him. It had wild staring and burning eyes. And obviously it had no good intentions and wanted to attack immediately.

=I haven't seen such a creature before. And I haven't done anything that could made him angry and ready for attacking me ... or maybe this path is his territory and I'm a gatecrasher ... It doesn't matter, he will be dead in some minutes.= with this thought Sesshoumaru prepared himself for the battle that was coming...

Kagome drove with her car back home. She was in the town to do some purchases and now that she had everything she wanted in her boot , she was happy to go home and relax.

It was the 30th of decembre and another year came to its end. The day after tomorrow she wanted to visit her parents. But now she was ready to prepare herself for the party in the tomorrow evening.

This meant she would have a relaxing bath, read a good book and for the time being she would not think about any problems.

It was a cold day in winter and snow was falling lightly. Kagome thought about the past days and the new year and dreamed a bit about her wishes for it.

She was now 18 years old and there wouldn't change many things, she would still go to university and study a lot and maybe from time to time she would visit her parents in a town in the neighbourhood.

Suddenly she saw a big white dog on the road. Fortunately it seemed to become aware of her car.

With this short distance it would be impossible for her to stop the car in due time, not with all that ice on the road!

But instead running away the dog stood there, growled and it seemed that it wanted to attack her car. She couldn't believe it.

Every other animal would run away and get to safety and not try to attack a vehicle!

Quickly she applied the brakes. But it was too late. When she reached the dog her car still moved with a high speed. Besides it seemed that she was losing control over the car because of the street that was covered by ice.

After she had collided with the animal she completely stopped. Quickly she went out of her car and looked whether the white dog was alive.

When she came around her car she was surprised to see, that it tried to stand up and growled angrily at the car. There were many wounds all over it and the pet had to fight against unconsciousness.

This fight it lost. It fell into the snow, which turned red and closed its eyes.

Kagome was shocked, but she knew that the wounds couldn't all been caused by her car.

Very carefully she walked towards the dog and kneeled down at its side. It was breathing regularly so it shouldn't be injured deadly she realized relieved.

Nevertheless the red surface in the snow underneath the dog which was growing rapidly worried her. Who did injure the dog like this? Could another animal have done this?

=But in this region there are no beasts of prey and another dog could not cause such wounds.= she thought.

Timid she reached out her hands for stroking over his fur.

This slight touch seemed to wake up the dog, because Kagome got a very threatening growl as reply to her touch.

Startled she withdrew her hand and looked up. She recognized that it had opened his eyes only a bit and looked at her with a very evil glance. It also didn't seem to have a normal colour of eyes for a dog as she could see in the light of the headlamps. Its eyes appeared really demonic. They neither were brown nor of another 'normal' colour. They seemed to be .... red.

=An albino?= Kagome thought. =But I've never heard about dogs that are albinos ...=

Again the dog growled and pulled her out of her thoughts.

Somehow this dog was a bit horrifying to her.

Every other animal would have whined, shown its pain and been quiet, but this one growled and threatened her and seemed to ignore the wounds. And then there were this murderous flashing eyes ...

Kagome didn't know what to do. With pleasure she would have went back to her car and driven home.

Actually the animal started another try to stand up. When it managed this, it tried to bite in her hand.

Immediately she withdrew it, stood up and went back until there was a respectful distance between her and the dog.

When she looked at it, how it was standing in front of her, didn't show any weaknesses but was covered with blood and watched her with its red eyes, still wanting to fight Kagome thought that it looked like it was coming straight from hell.

Sighing she shook her head. =Don't drive yourself mad! A dog straight from hell! What a rubbish! That's only a white shepherd dog! Girl, you are actually reading too much legends and horror stories!= she scolded herself.

Nevertheless she didn't want to come too close to this dog. So she decided that it was back on it's feet and that the wounds weren't caused by her.

Without looking away from it she got into her car again and continued driving home. In the rear mirror she watched the mysterious dog which was standing on the road and gazing after her without moving.

Just when it only was a little white point in the mirror it broke down again.

Kagome was shocked. When it remained lying on the road the next car coming along would run over it.

For the second time this night she stopped the car.

What was she to do? It was impossible to take the dog with her! Such an aggressive dog would devastate her flat completely and attack her if it was healthy again.

Otherwise it was injured and she was sorry for it. If she left the dog here it would be its certain death. Right now it was terribly cold and it was to get even colder during the night. Besides a heavy snowstorm was said to come over this region.

Without knowing what she was doing Kagome changed to the reverse gear and stopped near the animal.

Sighing she got out of the car again and looked down at this because of the cold shivering, injured and unconscious pet. When she saw it lying there helplessly, she made a decision.

She took an old blanket from her boot and put it on the passenger seat.

Afterwards she took the dog very carefully and put it on the seat next to her in her yellow Renault.

Then she also got into the car again and continued driving home. But now her thoughts were about the dog, how she should take care of him best, whether he really would attack her when he was healthy again or whether his aggressiveness was only a protective measure and were he was from. Was he fled from his family or did he stray?

Never the less she had to bandage the wounds and call the police whether such a dog was missing by some persons. After all he looked well-cared for and well-fed despite his wounds. This made Kagome think that he had his home in a human family.

Kagome sighed. Well she always had wanted a pet, but not when there was a party. Now probably she had to stay at home ...

She looked over to the dog. He slept peacefully on the seat and had stopped shivering.

She smiled slightly. All in all it was a very pretty dog and inside her heart a little hope began growing that it belonged to nobody. She had forgotten about his aggressiveness.

Carefully she reached out her hand after him and stroke once again over his fur, paying attention to not to touch any of the wounds. This time he didn't wake up and growl but leaned a little bit against her hand in sleep.

Kagome's smile grew wider and she was sure she had done the right thing.
