Battle of the crowns by sesshomaru4ever

A mother, A sister, and the jewel that distroyed it all

A/N Hey everyone! I am Kai and am writing a new story. This idea came when I was thinking about my great grandma; you could say this happened to her along time ago, except all the magical nifty stuff. Well enjoy!

Battle of the crowns

"Kagome-sama, the war against his lord is over powering us!" a tall man spoke. Kagome sighed, rain poured on the darkened land, spreading the word to the small insignificant animals that death was approaching.

Kagome tapped her slender fingers against her golden throne looking out her crystal window that viewed her once perfect world. Fog blanketed the countryside, shielding the wilted flowers and crimson grass from an onlooker's view.

Kagome ran her fingers through her knee length ebony hair one last time before confining it into a high pony tail. Her sapphire eyes watched her white horsed carriage pull up to the golden gates that entered her stunning castle.

Turning on her heels she strode through the hallways, sometimes stopping to admire a painting or watch the surreal glow her house always had. Her eyes followed the servants, watching them in there last moments with there children, and husbands walk off to war leaving the only battle they ever won, to head to another. How tragic.

People scattered around her, making a path for there queen. She gave everyone gentle smiles and stopped when a small figure found itself buried into her leg. The crying form shook and buried farther into her calf.

"I'm deeply sorry Lady Kagome!" a large woman said coming to pry the child off of her, but bowing low before approaching.

"There is no need" Kagome said sweetly holding a hand up in refusal, bending down to look at the boy "tell me what happened." The boy looked into her eyes and started to cry once again. Kagome felt her heart grow, and bent down to embrace the boy.

"His parents died just recently, His mother followed after the news of her husband" the fat lady spoke, watching there queen with astonishment as she held the small boy.

"Shippo" the little boy squeaked out tears still trailing down his face, but slowly coming to a stop.

"It that your name?" Kagome spoke sympathetically, taking in his emerald green eyes and blood red hair that hung to his small hips. He nodded his head slightly when a loud booming voice echoed through the halls.

"Kagome! We must leave now!" the man yelled pushing his way through the small crowd that had gathered in the halls. "Kagome now!"

"Do not order me around, general" he heard a voice say. Looking around he searched for the red and white dress that made his queen and found her kneeling with a small boy in her arms, looking at him with fiery courage. His heart sped up when he noticed that one of the straps had fallen over her shoulder.

"My apologies my Lady" he said bowing deeply to the ground "but we must leave the castle at once" he said gently pulling her strap over her slender shoulder.

Kagome blushed and felt the small bundle clutch her tight dress. Hearing the weeping start up once again, she slowly pulled him into her arms and stood.

"General I hope you do not mind that I have company?" Kagome questioned pulling Shippo closer to her chest and walked around him. "Good, now let us go"

Kagome stepped into her white carriage, her general following close behind.

"Kagome" Kagome sighed she knew what he was going to say "you mustn't bring a small child into battle. It would be a death sentence for both of you"

"Do not assume so much, I would not put him at risk. He will stay with my sister; she will protect him with her life." Kagome spoke, sadness lingered in her voice.

"I do not wish to question you, but why do you wish to travel into battle? This is not your fight"

"On the contrary, this is almost all my fault. If my soldiers are going into battle to fight for there country then so will I. It is my duty as such"

The carriage came to a stop, as Kagome slowly made her way out. Her sister Kai sat on a bench twirling her long red hair between her fingers. Her yellow eyes watched the men prepare for battle.

"Kai, it would be best not to ogle my soldiers" Kagome said watching as Kai shyly waves to a soldier who winked.

"Aww Kags your no fun. Can't you let your older sister have a little entertainment on this gloomy day?" she teased. Her amber eyes traveled to the small child in Kagome's arms "SO KAWII!" she yelled jumping off the small bench and picking up the child, twirling him in the air. That's when she noticed it; the small child smelled of demon "Kagome, this child..."she said stopping and holding the child in a loving manner.

"I know I was surprised too, he is a kitsune (fox demon). How a demon got on our world I do not know, but his parents are dead and I must head into battle. I ask you to take care of him" Kagome flinched when Kai's glare penetrated her soul.

"You are not heading to battle without me"

"You must take care of Shippo" she said motioning to the boy "I will not be able to do so. And, he is too young to protect himself"

"I can put up an invisible barrier, I can send him far away from this place, but you are not going into this battle without me by your side" Kai spoke daring her sister to say otherwise.

"I am the queen of this land and I do not take orders, even from you sister." A slap sounded through the trees and Kagome clutched her face. A small hand print etched in red spread across her left cheek.

"You will do well to know your place. Just because I gave you the crown does not give you the right to treat me as if I am lower then you. Remember this Kagome, mother left this to me, not you. I may not care what happened to her throne, but I do care what happens to you." She growled turning to Shippo, replacing her calm face. Smiling boringly she held out her hand "Shippo sweetie, will you come with me please?" Shippo shyly placed his small fingers in hers as they walked towards a small clearing. "Now Shippo you must promise me you will stay inside."

"Inside?" he whispered

Kai smiled and clapped her hands together. A bright light engulfed the clearing, making all who watched, look away from the blinding light.

Slowly the light faded and a small cottage was placed in the clearing. Toys decorated the inside and its wooden walls were painted with all the colors of the rainbow.

Shippo squealed in delight as Kai smiled down at him, watching him jump up and down. He looked at Kai questioningly, asking politely to enter. When she nodded her head firmly he grabbed her and pulled her with him into the small building.

Upon entering he let out an audible gasp and ran to a large bear in the middle, giving it a firm squeeze.

"Shippo honey I have to go I'll be back in a bit. Please don't leave the house" when he nodded his head and gave her a hug she opened the door and found Kagome staring at her.

"This will do nothing Kai, they will destroy this hut if they get close to the base" Kai rolled her eyes.

"Kagome I am not stupid" she said turning and clapping her hands again. The house disappeared slowly as a small bubble engulfed the area.

"An invisible barrier Kai? Surely you know those are detectable..." Kai quickly grabbed her arm and flung her into where the door should have been. Kagome stumbled and fell into the small mud puddle that was left behind.

"I sent him to my castle, it is safe and he is invisible if he leaves the house or not" she said again rolling her eyes. A giggle started to form when she seen Kagome covered from head to toe in mud. It turned to a full blown laugh when a frog jumped into her lap and looked at her

"Will you kiss me beautiful princess?" the frog spoke, only to be picked up and placed into the mud puddle "I thought we had something!" he called out after the retreating form of Kagome.

Kai, doubled over in laughter, watching her sister approach her and growl.

"Come on" she said between laughs "you can't say that wasn't funny"

"Kai!" Kagome bellowed in a serious tone, causing Kai to immediately stop laughing "this is a war, a battle field, not a happy place! We are hearing to fight or die trying, not to bounce around playing jokes!" she yelled. Kai stood up tall to face Kagome.

"This may be a war, but the small bit of laughter that I gift them with is enough to bring them hope. The littlest bit of laughter can brighten the saddest situation" she glared "just because you feel guilty for something that is your fault, does not mean that you can blame me!" her voice echoed, attracting the attention of many soldiers who stopped to watch "You were the one that he died for, and you were the one who failed to save him. Don't you dare try to pin this on me lady Kagome"

The soldiers gasped, looking at Kagome to see what she would say to her defiant sister, and to their surprise she turned on her heels and left.

A flash of sympathy coursed through Kai's body. She shouldn't have brought up the death of her mate. Kai felt the tinges of jealousy and guilt, watching her sister walk away holding everything wile she was left with only a memory.

"We head out men!" Kagome announced to the troops, listening to their worried whispers, and prayers to god. Ha god? She left his sanctuary the night her beloved died.

The wind blew through the sisters Hair. They stood facing the enemy, him standing mere feet from them. Kai growled in displeasure

"You will never win Kagawaki" Kai hissed. Kagawaki smiled and pulled Kai off her horse

"We will see" He whispered into her hair, taking a long breath. Kai pushed him away from her, glaring at his perfect features. Long wavy black hair hung in loose curls to his thighs.

"Sick sadistic bastard" she murmured, straddling her horse once again.

"ku ku ku, oh but Kai you like it" he whispered walking past her horse.

Men screamed as weapons clashed, blood spraying the ground. Kagome battled along side her sister.

The enemy circled around her, Kai stood at her back facing the oncoming attackers. She spun and twirled, slicing the men continuously. Her dress floated and restricted her movements to much, so she found herself cutting it to her mid thighs. This is a battle, and in battle people get dirty.

Kagome's pain filled cry sounded through the battle field. Blood from her open wound dripped slowly down her side, slipping on the forest floor. Collapsing beside her sister, Kai's hand landed on something small and round.

Holding up the pink sphere, she watched as a small glow pulsed from around it, the eerie red glow that now coated the sky reflected of the foreign object. A bright light engulfed her and her sister, freezing the world in mid battle. Kai and Kagome stood, the silence that once held the screams and cries of many soldiers disappeared. The world was frozen in time.

"What have you done?" Kagome murmured.

"It wasn't me! It came out of you!" she said accusingly pointing at Kagome's side

"Well change it back!" she said, taking a menacing step towards her older sister

Kai gripped the sphere tightly watching as another glow surrounded them, but when it disappeared, there world followed as well...

A/N woot yea! First chapter hope you all like it
