(A/N) Remember, this is the *revised* edition. Just a little note, it starts off pretty much with the same ideas as the real “Inuyasha”, and I hold no claim to that either. Other than that, it’s sorta shortened and modified, w/ slight Inu/Kag but not really. It will be really long before I actually introduce Kag to Sess and even longer perhaps for them to fall in love with eachother. Please be patient though, I think it would be better longer. On with the story!

“Kagome! Kagome!” a frightened male voice shouted across the field, “Come quick!”

A few muffled grumbles sounded from far away as footsteps fell heavier with each step closer to the voice beckoning the said female. “What is it Souta? I’m busy!” Kagome yelled in frustration. Timidly, Souta pointed towards the well.

“You called for me just to see the well?”

“No! No! To see what’s in the well!”

“What’s in the well? Water ofcourse. What else would be there? Don’t tell me you’re fascinated by well water now brother dearest.”

“No! I mean, Buyo fell in the well!”

At this, the young teenager walked passed her brother and leaned to peer over the well’s edge. The first thing she noticed was that there was no water in the well at all. Second, their family cat was indeed inside the well.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Go get it.”

“What? Are you crazy? I’m not going in there!”

“I didn’t know boys were scared of heights. Or is it the dark you’re scared of? hmm?,” Kagome teased her younger sibling.

“Gah! None of those! I-I just can’t jump in there ‘cause I’m too short and I’ll fall or stumble and hurt myself!”

The elder of the two rolled her eyes. Boys will be boys. And boys would never admit to being scared of anything. Sighing exasperatedly, she placed her hands on the edge and leaned herself over to jump down.

But she never reached the bottom.

Admist the thick weave of the forest, a seemingly young male strutted across the dirt with an air of arrogance. Hands on sword and clad in red garments, he seemed every bit of an important figure. Grumbling, he continued his blundering footsteps, head down, paying slight attention to where he was heading.

A soft thud to his left sounded in the forest with a small “Oof!”. Ears twitching, he lifted his head and turned towards the source of sound. Glaring down an old well, his sight was matched with the vision of a young girl dressed in a rather revealing short skirt, rubbing her behind.

“Ooh, where am I?” And as cliché as that may sound, those were the only words Kagome managed to get out of her mouth when she realized there was no Buyo to save down here and there was no covering over this well, indicating that this hole where she was trapped in was definitely not her own.

“Oy! You! What are you doing down there?”

Lifting up her gaze, she saw a white head, a white head with ears. Wrinkling her eyebrows together, she wondered whether she had not in fact fell and hit her head and slipped into an unconscious state of dreaming.

“Yeah! I’m fine!” she answered, even though that was not the question. “Help me get out of here!”

A grunt was heard above and a string of rope fell along the walls of the well. Carefully, she grasped the flimsy looking string and tugged, making sure it was safe to hang her weight upon. Seeing that it was firmly held in place above, she began to climb out. A raven head poked itself over the well wall and blinked in the bright light. A small hand waved, trying to hold on to something solid to bring herself up and out of the well. Another grunt sounded, and a lean arm bent down towards the girl to lend a hand. Literally.

As soon as she was heaved onto the ground, she sank to her knees and heaved in to take in the much-needed oxygen after such strenuous exercise that she was not used to. In between breaths, she managed to get out a soft “Thank you”. Skimming over her figure dressed in a rather skimpy choice of clothing, curiosity took over the male.

“Who are you?”

“I’m Kagome. And you are?”

“Inu-” but he never got to finish before a shrill scream pierced the still air of an unsuspecting forest.

Run. Run. Run away. Faster.

Three outlines ran across the backdrop, frightened out of their wits. Randomly, one of them would turn around and aim an arrow of giant boomerang at the silent yet imposing silhouette of their predator. In the arms of one, a small figure squirmed in its hold, and finding it useless, yelled out a name as a female screamed and fell to the creature’s blows and oncoming advance.

“INUYASHA!”

The young male dressed in red turned from Kagome and tensed as he saw four figures, two still running, one being held, and one fallen on the ground. Without another word towards the newly discovered maiden, he raced towards the victims of a seemingly blown-out image of a scorpion. Maybe Kagome was dreaming afterall. She pinched herself.

“Ow!”

Then again, maybe not.

But if she wasn’t, where was she? Why did that young man have ears? White hair might be dyed afterall, and the golden eyes with contacts, but the ears made her doubt that. And that guy, was Inuyasha him? Were the figures fighting off the giant pest calling for his aid? Afterall, he was racing towards them and drawing an impressive sword on the creature. Kagome has learned about youkai and their history with the human race. She knew they existed. But that’s just it. Existed. Past tense. They were only found approximately 500 years before hers. She couldn’t have time traveled without knowing it could she? Besides, it was unknown how to do so to the human race.

She was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts as a gruff voice yelled out a “Kagome!” She looked up, only one person knew her name here as far as she knew, but as soon as she glanced up, she almost wished she hadn’t. The giant scorpion was racing towards here with a deadly gleam in its beady eyes. Her eyes widened with a sense of fear. She couldn’t move, immobilized by fear, but just as she threw her arms in front of her in a weak attempt to hold off the pursuing monster, a triumphant “Kyah!” sounded along with the sickening thud of a pincer.

She removed her arms and watched in fascinated horror and awe as the young man she assumed was Inuyasha as the others called him sliced at her stalker, successfully deterring its attention away from her. She noted thus with gratitude silently. It seemed that the battle was almost over, Inuyasha being the victor, before a white flush washed over her and she was overcome with a dread.

“The tail! Watch out for the tail!” Kagome screamed out, still not moving from her position. The others gave her a puzzled look, and went on with their random assaults at the creature, but as the creature gave a frustrated growl, Inuyasha leaped up at the same precise moment it lifted its poisonous tip to strike down at him, and slashed downwards from tail to head. Victory was theirs. Taking a jeweled shard inside the carcass, he wiped off the blood and turned a troubled look towards the girl on the floor.

“How’d you know it was gonna strike with its tail?”

Kagome turned towards the young woman in tight black with a giant boomerang on her back who asked the question. She squinted, trying to see if that was leather.

“Yeah! Who are you?” A ball of fur jumped into her lap and looked up at her with curious big eyes. In her lap was a very adorable kitsune. Yes, she deduced that these were indeed youkai or hanyou around her, with the exceptional few that looked like humans. However she still has not figured out where she was or how she got here.

She smiled lovingly at the small thing, motherly instincts kicking in. “Hey there, I’m Kagome.”

Immediately, she was whisked up onto her feet, hands grasped in a monk’s fits. “Ah! Lady Kagome! Would you give me the honor of bearing you children? One as beautiful as you and one as charm-” He was cut off by a fist connecting with his skull.

“Cut that out Miroku, you insufferable leech! Argh!” The girl that first questioned her yelled. Turning away from his fallen figure, she turned and placed an abnormally large grin on her face for one who just nearly gave someone brain damage and held out her hand to introduce herself. “Hey there! I’m Sango! I’m a youkai exterminator and that on the floor is Miroku, the perverted leech. The little one in your lap is Shippou, an orphaned kitsune (at which the little one tensed and Kagome hugged to her chest), that white-haired fweak is Inuyasha, an Inu hanyou as you can guess from the name (of which Kagome did), and that girl on his arm is Kikyo, the village miko! Anyways, what you did was absolutely awesome! So you never answered my question, how did you know it was gonna strike? Could you teach me? Even Kikyo can’t see a youkai’s advances!”

Kagome smiled with an amused twinkle in her eyes. A miko was a priestess who according to her history teacher, had the power to purify youkai demons and were granted with other extraordinary purifying powers. She herself came from a shrine; being taught how to be a proper miko even though no one believed in miko powers no more seeing as there were no youkai left. In fact, the Feudal Ages during which youkai lived was now an elective course, seeing that it seems more of a legend than a supported period in history. She still can’t believe she was here and not dreaming. Again she pinched herself and winced at the pain.

And that was where the story begins.

___________________________________________________________ « Fini »

A note of reminder, this is a Sess/Kag fanfic, even though there will be times of slight Inu/Kag. In this fanfic, Kagome knows about youkai and all just so I can get that part over with. I mean, she should know about it right? So I’ll just say it’s more like a legend or theory about what might have taken place in the past, but there is no real evidence. So far, she still does not know how she is there or anything, but yeah, that’s basically more for the next chapter. I’m gonna try to finish at least up to the point of where Kagome meets Sesshoumaru fast. And please don’t kill me if you really loved the original “Shadowed Truths”. It’s basically the same still, with a really long beginning and all. It still has the four entities Fate, Life, Death, Destiny in the Jewel of Four Souls (Shikon no Tama) and there are still gonna be the Queen and King of Light, ‘cept I found that title really corny, so now they’ll just be Guardians. I’m revealing this much since it was already posted previously, but no more spoilers for the newbies reading this. =) Anyways, review please=DD I’ll see if I can update later. Thanks for your patience!

Remember that reviews are always appreciated!
