Chapter 1

Bad Boy And Good Girl Meet

Sesshomaru who had by luck decided to take a step outside. Saw a woman walk into the park and sit down on bench where she began to read. He didn't know what it was about her that caught his attention. She wasn't like the other girls he was use to. No short skirt, no model figure and no designer clothes, just an ordinary plain jane in a simple blue dress. Maybe it was the she walked that attracted him to her.

Maybe it was the way she swayed her hips. He liked woman with long, thick hair and he could tell from his distance that her long black hair was thick. He wished he could run his hand through her hair and find out what it was that attracted him to her. Sure she wasn't like the other girls he bedded with but she was in a class all on her. He was disappointed that he couldn't see her face.

Not once did she look his way or anywhere for that matter. Sure her dress was outdated but it looked neat and nice on her. With such a walk like hers why didn't she dress more fancy and show it off? He really wished she would look his way. She had that commitment look to her a thing he tried to avoid seeing. He just wasn't ready to settle down with one woman and family.

Of course he would want too eventually but now he just wanted to be free. Yet again he wasn't sure why he was drawn to her like fly drawn to a bright light. There was something about her..."Forget it don't even think about it" Sesshomaru turned around to find his best friend Miroku giving him a look. "About what? I have no idea what you're talking about" Sesshomaru said acting innocent.

"I saw you checking out that girl over there forget about it" Miroku said.

"So you know her" Sesshomaru stated more then asked.

"Yes I know her but like I said she isn't your type. So forget about it besides mess with her and the whole town will be on you" Miroku said.

"They already are" Sesshomaru said.

Miroku chuckled and shook his head. "Don't I know it your the only thing they've been able to talk about. Anyway why are you still here? Your business is doing great you already handled everything that needed to be done and your a millionaire several times over" Miroku said.

"Stop doing that trying to change the subject who is she?' Sesshomaru asked.

"A local girl which is why you should back down now and forget about it before the town decides to run you out again" Miroku said.

"Anyway as you were saying she's a local," Sesshomaru said pretending as if he never heard him.

"She's a local girl o come on Sesshomaru just leave her alone" Miroku said sighing.

"Miroku I'll find out sooner or later probably sooner you know me" Sesshomaru said.

"Exactly that's what I'm afraid of" Miroku said.

"Come on Miroku" Sesshomaru said. Miroku sighed knowing he could no longer keep the information Sesshomaru wanted away from him. "She's a local her ancestry backs tracks to when the town was just being found by her ancestor Kane Nayotake. They had money once but it all disappeared by the son's who either invested badly or spent all of it gambling. Actually before you were shortly born your father InuTaisho Taisho bought most of what had been there's including the house" Miroku said.

"Great I'm sure that guarantees me a good warm welcome" Sesshomaru said.

"Like I told you she's not your type the Askura's have been through a lot but their making it now and thing's are going great for them" Miroku said.

"Wait a minute I thought you said there name was Nayotake" Sesshomaru said.

"That's her mother's maiden name the father was Naraku Askura" Miroku said.

"Was? What do you mean was her father?" Sesshomaru asked.

"He took off with another woman her mother owns a little shop and Kagome is the head librarian" Miroku said.

"Kagome?" Sesshomaru asked testing out the name out for himself. As he thought over all the things Miroku just told. "Interesting I think in all my years I've never ever dated a librarian" Sesshomaru said with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. "I know you can't resist a challenge but don't you think you have enough problems without looking for more trouble?" Miroku asked.

"Me? Look for trouble? You know me better then that" Sesshomaru said.

"Exactly I know you and I don't want to start hearing how you hurt the poor girl. You know this town they like to gossip it's like your feeding yourself to the lions why set yourself up?" Miroku asked.

"I know I'm just a another thing for them to talk about for this town anyway. Besides no matter what I say or do is going to change the fact that they all hate me. So I might as well have some fun. I promise I won't do anything illegal scout's honor" Sesshomaru said mocking a boy scout's honor salute. Miroku rolled his eyes and shook his head laughing. "I'll bet on my Hummer hell I'll bet my life on it that Kagome the librarian hasn't had a lot of excitement in her life.

Am I right?" Sesshomaru asked. Miroku groaned and Sesshomaru smirked with a knowing gleam in his eyes. "I'm right well it seems it's going to have to be up to me. To spice up her life with some fun and excitement of my own," Sesshomaru said looking at Kagome again. "Besides some great things come in plain wrappers" Sesshomaru said making his way to the park.

Kagome tried to concentrate on her book she really, really tried but she couldn't keep her mind off the latest gossip she was hearing. All about one man Sesshomaru Taisho Kagome closed her book, tilted her head back and sighed. She heard whispers all filled with disdain. They said he was a rebel and troublemaker in all the years he spent in Rosemont before moving away.

They also said he was handsome and well built like a god. When she caught her first glimpse of him she nearly fainted from his beauty. And when she heard whispers about him and the way he got woman into his bed her heart would beat faster. She stole every glance she could get whenever he was near by. Her aunt Sakura would be shocked with the thoughts what were in her mind, heck she shocked herself.

But as much as she was shocked she couldn't get her mind off him. She had to know for herself if he was really suave, dangerous, and rebellious as everyone says. She was dying to know how much was fact and what was fiction. She never had any real life encounters or experience with dangerous and dashing except in fiction books. She learned the meaning from books but it wasn't enough.

But getting a glance of Sesshomaru Taisho was enough to wet her appetite and boy did she want more. He was like the characters she read about in books. A world filled with excitement and glamour. One of the big things about Sesshomaru was his reputation with woman. There was hardly a time when he didn't appear in the newspaper and his picture taken with of course a woman on his arm sometimes two!

Everything about him looked high classed and sophisticated despite the rumors. The day he showed up in his fancy Hummer the whole town gawked having never seen one except in the movies and she gawked with them. The day InuTaisho's will was read the whole town was in shock and stunned. Everything had been left to Sesshomaru instead of Kikyo Taisho widow to InuTaisho's oldest son InuYasha Taisho his only legitimate son.

InuTaisho was one of the wealthiest men in the county. He owned a lot of estate but more importantly the factory, which gave over more, then sixty percent of the town's it's workforce. Now it all belonged to Sesshomaru to a man that had been denied his father's name but had taken it anyway. To a man who had been shunned by most of the town's people as a boy. He and his mother.

Was it any wonder why Sesshomaru never had returned until now? It would be understandable if he felt no love for the town or it's citizens. Kagome didn't have to think about it much of what he must have gone through as a child. Shame and anger were no new feelings to her but she held her feelings inside and held her head high. In a way Kagome saw it as Sesshomaru being the lucky one who got away a thing Kagome could never do she didn't have that option.

Kagome might have wanted to leave to turn her back on the town and go. She thought about it plenty of times but there was one problem. Her mother she could never turn her back on her mom. Kagome was familiar with the gossip that surrounded the town but now there was fear in those whispers. What would be Sesshomaru's attitude toward the town? What if he decided to get back at the town in his own way because of the way he and his mother had been treated?

He now practically held the town's economy in his hands and no one knew what he was going to do. Kagome frowned she didn't like the way how everyone judged Sesshomaru just based on his past. Maybe that's why she viewed the day Sesshomaru came into town to settle some business as a gift. If she ran a ad in the town paper that read: Wanted, one sexy, smooth talker man she couldn't have done any better.

It had to be fate how else could she take into consideration for the fact that after months of a mental tug war argument she made her life-changing decision not to die a virgin and along came Sesshomaru Taisho? He was the perfect man to help her with her problem who cares how he came to her what difference did it make? He was perfect exactly what she was looking for experienced, available, and temporary.

The temporary part was highly important because she didn't have any intentions of having a long-term affair. Neither did she want her heart broken. She was sure the rumor about Sesshomaru leaving a trail of broken hearts was more then true. A bad boy of the highest order...exactly the kind of man she needed. Kagome couldn't remember when the idea of finding a lover came to mind.

For a while she thought she lost her mind but over the years her hope to finding Mr. Right faded away. She figured if Mr. Right was on the way he was to many years to late and now she was taking things into her own hands. Now finding the perfect lover was a challenge. There were absolutely no candidates in Rosemont. Not that she seriously considered it because a local man held the risk of discovery.

Cause the part of the plan that made her concerned was that she had to keep it from the one person whose opinion and counsel she valued most was her mother. Kagome's life had always been based on honesty and compassion. In this case the most compassionate thing to do was to make sure her mother would never find out of what she was planning to do. Not because she thought her mother wouldn't understand if the truth was to come out.

But she didn't think Ayumi Askura could survive another scandal. The first one, over twenty years ago had left her crushed. The doctors said she had a weak heart but Kagome knew better it was a broken heart. When Naraku Askura left his sweet loving wife and four year old daughter for a woman younger then him who was rumored to be a madam in France. The gossip and outrageous lies came too painful to bear.

For a man to choose that kind of woman over a unrighteous world-class woman. The man either had to be crazy or...and it was the 'or' that scared and haunted her mother for almost twenty years and her lively spirit never recovered. The thought of that she might hurt her mother was a reason why she hadn't taken this important step. A fling with any man in Rosemont was out of the question; even one from nearby Richmond was a risk.

Too many people were related to each other many with talkative mouths. Her choice had to be from out of the town and didn't care about what the town thought or said about him. Which was why Sesshomaru Taisho was the perfect man for her plan. He had no desire to talk to the Rosemont community and they had no desire to speak to him. Kagome took a glance at her watch and noticed she was late.

Grabbing her books and things she left the park in a hurry and rushed across the street to the library. She was in such a rush she hadn't noticed the other man making his way to the library too and crashed into him. Kagome crashed into the man and fell on her butt her things scattering everywhere. "Oh I'm sorry I wasn't looking where I was going and I was in a rush cause I was late.

O I'm sorry" Kagome said nervously as she started picking up her things. "It's no problem I understand here let me help you up" a deep voice said back to her. He held out his hand and Kagome gladly accepted. He pulled her up and the sight she saw shocked her. It was him! Sesshomaru Taisho! 'The rumors were right Sesshomaru Taisho is one sexy looking guy. Those beautiful golden eyes and that hair.

I wonder if it feels as silky as it looks. He looks so well built look at the way his muscles show through his shirt. He's breath taking' Kagome thought in a daze. All the sudden all the air from her lungs left her and she started to feel flushed and a little dizzy. Now she knew for sure he was the perfect man. She could feel his masculine aura and the way she was drawn to him. She couldn't explain it but the thought of Sesshomaru being her lover took another level into reality.

Cause of the reality of her response was lust pure sexual attraction she couldn't take it from experience but she knew it couldn't be anything else. "Are you all right?' Sesshomaru asked a little worried that she hadn't said anything for a while. "What?" Kagome asked confused and snapping out of her thoughts. "Are you all right?" Sesshomaru asked again.

"Ummm yes" Kagome said.

"Good" Sesshomaru said smiling making Kagome's heart skip a beat. "Allow me" Sesshomaru said opening the door. Kagome mumbled a quick thanks and rushed in pass him. For once she was happy that the gossip was true. Once she made it inside the library she started to feel better and more comfortable in her familiar surroundings. She summoned up the courage, took a deep breath and turned around to look at Sesshomaru.

It also happened that there was some distance between them and he wasn't so close that she wasn't tempted to touch him. "Can I help you?" Kagome asked in her best librarian voice and hoped he didn't notice the quiver in her voice. Sesshomaru gave her a slow look over from head to toe and back up again. Making sure she noticed that he was checking her out. 'Such a nice figure better then nice.

She is far from girlish like I thought before when I saw her from a distance. Who would have known this plain, ordinary looking woman had such a lush, ripe body something I haven't seen in long time. No skin and bones here just curves and soft flesh in all the right places. Hell she's making me drool and to top it all off the charming and cute look of awareness on her face. I almost forgot what innocence looked like it looks great on her.

She has that built-for-the-bedroom body with the combination of real potential I like that' Sesshomaru thought. He nodded his head and smiled. "Yes" Sesshomaru said finally answering her question. Kagome noticed him noticing her and fidgeted under his gaze. Finally he looked up at her again and answered her question. "Did you have any author in mind?" Kagome asked unconsciously licking her lips.

That nearly did it for Sesshomaru the way she licked her lips unknowingly looking so innocent. He smiled a slow, sensual smile liking the way her eyes sparkled even if her face stayed the same. "Well actually Ms....." Sesshomaru said waiting for her to fill in the blanks. "Kagome Askura I'm the head librarian" Kagome said introducing herself. "Kagome what lovely name well Ms. Askura the truth is I used to live around here and" he was saying until she interrupted.

"Yes I know Mr. Taisho" Kagome said shocking him. 'So she already knows who I am well then skip the formalities' Sesshomaru thought liking how everything just got easier for him. "Please just call me Sesshomaru" he said holding out his hand. Kagome grabbed his hand and the moment there hands touched heat shot up through her body. "Nice to meet you Kagome" Sesshomaru said.

"And you" Kagome said back she didn't trust herself enough to say his name. "Since you already know me there's no to pretend and beat around the bush. I really don't want a book," Sesshomaru said.

"You don't want one?" Kagome asked a little confused.

"No I don't" Sesshomaru said.

"Then why did you come in here?" Kagome asked.

"I followed you" Sesshomaru said.

"What?" Kagome asked thinking she heard wrong.

"I said, I followed you" Sesshomaru said.

"Why?" Kagome blurted out before she could stop herself. "Sorry that was rude of me" Kagome said wishing she had learned to keep her mouth shut. "You're a lovely woman. I'm healthy; reasonably, attractive man, so I let nature take over and I followed you. This process has worked for thousands of years so I don't see no need to fix it" Sesshomaru said.

"I see you mean you came in here just to meet me," Kagome said finally figuring out his intentions or so she thought. "Meet you, then ask you out. Would you have dinner with me?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Me?" Kagome asked shocked.

"But of course" Sesshomaru said before he suddenly frowned. "Your not Mrs. are you? You're not married or engaged or anything?" Sesshomaru asked thinking he would kill Miroku if she was. "No" Kagome said.

"That's a relief," Sesshomaru said sighing. "You had me worried cause I sure would like to take you to dinner tonight" Sesshomaru said stepping closer to her. "Please don't disappoint me by telling me you already have plans" Sesshomaru said lowering his voice. "We can go someplace real nice where they have great food, soft lights, and maybe some music. I like to think that music enhances the flavor no matter what your eating don't you?" Sesshomaru said stopping when he saw her face.

The strange look in her eyes her lips slightly starting to frown. "What is it? Did I say something wrong?" Sesshomaru asked.

"No, it's just...." Kagome said unable to finish. "It's just what?" Sesshomaru asked.

"It's just we don't know each other and...." Kagome was saying before Sesshomaru cut in. "We can get to know each other over a nice steak unless you're not a meat-eater perhaps something lighter" Sesshomaru offered.

"No steak is just fine but...." Kagome was saying but stopped. 'How can I tell him that I already had everything planned of what I was going to say to him. How I was going to get him to ask me out and now here he is surprising me completely making me feel flabbergasted?' Kagome thought.

"I.... you're not supposed to...." Kagome was saying but stopped again. "O I see" Sesshomaru said his smile disappearing. "I get it I see my reputation precedes me am I right? Once a bad boy, always a bad boy" Sesshomaru said. Out of the five minutes she'd known Sesshomaru and there was no question about it he was a smooth talker but even with all his smoothness.

It just wasn't enough to hide the pain. They're in his eyes as she guessed it was a old and deep wound, third-degree rejection. "You know Kagome it's hard for me to redeem myself if no one is willing to give me a second chance. I liked you from the moment I saw you. And when we started to talk I liked you even more but I guess I can't except you to" he was saying.

"No it's not like that, that has nothing to do with it really," Kagome said. After seeing the hurt in his eyes she couldn't help but only match his confession honestly. "I know a lot of people in the town judged you based on your past but I'm not one of them. Please believe me I'm not like that it's just I can't really see why you would want to take me out to dinner" Kagome said.

He doubted there wasn't a coy bone in her body, but she sure wasn't making things easy but then again nothing worthwhile ever was. "To begin with you're smart of course you have to be if your the librarian right? And second you're a beauty from those big brown eyes to your long, gorgeous legs. You're lovely to look at," Sesshomaru said.

"Oh.... thank you" Kagome said taking a step back a little surprised. "But of course now how about tonight?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Tonight?" Kagome asked.

"Yes. You and me, a juicy steak, music, and fine tasting wine. What time should I pick you up?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Pick me up?" Kagome questioned everything sounded so good she was mesmerized. "Seven okay with you?" Sesshomaru asked.

"Yes but I'm not always out of here right at five so...why don't I just me at you at your house? Is that ok with you? Or I could meet you at whatever restaurant you pick" Kagome offered. Sesshomaru was surprised by her forwardness for a bit before it all made sense. 'She means after dark less of a chance of her being seen with me. Sure it hurts a bit but I can't blame her. Actually I have to give her credit she really knows how to look out for herself' Sesshomaru thought.

"Whatever works for you, works for me" Sesshomaru said smiling.

"I'm, uh...........sometimes I get tied up and have to stay a few minutes after closing" Kagome said slightly stuttering.

"You said that already Kagome you're not thinking about backing out are you?" Sesshomaru asked closing the space between them. "Cause that would break my heart and you wouldn't want to do that right?" Sesshomaru asked.

"I...I...no I'm not backing out" Kagome said her heart beating faster. Sesshomaru reached out and played with the strands of hair by her throat staring deep into her eyes before placing it back. "Happy to hear it" Sesshomaru said. He looked around and noticed half the people in the library were watching them before looking back at Kagome. "You know I almost decided to leave town today but I've change my mind.

Or should I say a certain lovely librarian changed it" Sesshomaru said smiling before he turned to leave. He was almost gone when he stopped at the door. "Remember I'm counting on you not to break my heart," he said before leaving disappearing from her sight. Kagome stared at the empty doorway, knowing without a doubt that the gossip was true. They were right he was handsome, a smooth talker, and so much more she was sure of it.

As Sesshomaru walked to his car a thought crossed his mind. 'Maybe she truly is as innocent as she looks. But it's also possible that she's too good to be true. She could just be using my invitation to get information. I'm sure ninety-nine percent of

Townspeople want. I don't know much about Kagome except for the things Miroku told me but my instincts are insisting she's trustworthy.

I've made a lot of money following my instincts before especially with hostile takeovers' Sesshomaru thought before a smile came to his face. 'So if Kagome the librarian with the built-for-the-bedroom body wants answer she'll just have to go home disappointed but then again if it's a little hands-on, up close and personal comfort she wants. I'll be more then happy to oblige' Sesshomaru thought now grinning he couldn't wait for there date.
