To Heal A Shattered Rose by Silver_Dog_Demon

Chapter 1

Kagome's morning started off great. She grabbed her yellow bag and headed downstairs to eat breakfast that is until she entered the kitchen and looked at the clock on the wall.

"OMG! I've got to go. I can't believe this. I'm late." She ran past the table and grabbed her brother's toast.

"Hey sis, that was my toast!" He yelled as he watched his sister run into the hall and slipped her shoes on and grabbed the yellow bag then opened the front door and ran out slamming the door behind her before running to the well house. When she arrived in the feudal era she quickly climbed out of the well and ran towards Kaede's village. As she neared the hut Inuyasha stepped out with the others soon following.

"Kagome!" Shippou called out as he ran up to her and wrapped his arms around her shoulders to hug her.

"About time you decided to show up wench! You are late." Inuyasha crossed his arms over his chest.

"I'm only ten minutes late Inuyasha. I could of left your ramen back home you know. Maybe next time I will just do that." Kagome huffed. "Anyways my little brother Souta wanted me to tell you that he says hello." Inuyasha did not say anything but just continued  to walk towards the north of the village. Not knowing if Inuyasha was wanting to be alone or not no one followed him. He stopped and turned towards them.

"Aren't you guys coming or just going to stand there like idiots all morning?" Inuyasha blurted out.

"Well we better follow him." Sango sighed.

"Yeah we would not want his hair to get bent out of shape now would we?" Shippou snickered.

"Quite your yapping and get your asses moving already." Inuyasha yelled over his shoulder as he continued walking not looking back.

"Yeah, yeah Inuyasha." Everyone murmured as they walked fast to catch up with Inuyasha. Several silent but tense hours had passed with no one talking when Sango and Miroku looked at each other then shrugged. Sango raised her hand to cover part of her mouth and leaned close to Miroku.

"Wonder how long this is going to go on without either of them talking to each other?" Sango whispered.

"I have to agree with you. What's this going to prove?" Miroku leaned over whispering to Sango while Kagome heard a little of what was said and sighed while up ahead Inuyasha heard every word clutching his fists. Seeing this Kagome moved closer to Inuyasha to walk slightly next to him.

"Inuyasha listen I honestly did not mean to be late getting back here okay. Besides it's not like I set out everyday thinking 'Okay let's see what can I do or should I do to make Inuyasha irritated to where he yells and ignores me and everyone else!" Kagome looked over at Inuyasha to see he was back to having his arms crossed and with his nose up in the air continuing to walk forward. "Hey are you even listening to a word I am saying? You are such a jerk!" Kagome stopped walking then inhaled deeply and let it out in a deep sigh. She jumped when a hand was placed on her shoulder.

"Don't let it worry you to much Kagome, he'll come around. You've tried. Come we must hurry to catch up with him before our friend gets even more arrogant." Miroku finished as he carried on following after the hanyou and Sango next to him carrying Kirara. As Kagome pulled up the rear of the group.

The inu-group continued walking not stopping to take breaks to rest other than a quick stop here and there to relieve themselves then they pressed to carry onwards. Inuyasha did not even stop for lunch to be prepared and now it was dark out to where they were forced to stop. When they did stop Kagome with Shippou walking next to her, Sango who had Kirara on her shoulder and Miroku went to their knees extremely tired and very happy to stop.

"You can't rest yet there is still camp and the meal to still be made!" Inuyasha rudely demanded. Kagome tilted her head back and sighed then slid her yellow backpack off her back to go through to get the cooking pot then tiredly stood up to go fetch the water. Coming back into camp with the water she saw a heartily fire blazing. As Kagome sat the water on to boil everyone heard off in the distance wolves howling.

"Kagome do you think those are Kouga's wolves that are howling in the distance?" Shippou questioned while sitting next to Kagome waiting for the ramen to get done cooking.

"They could be since their cave is up north and we are heading that way. We will see soon enough if those were his wolves for Kouga would be showing up." Kagome reassured Shippou while taking the cooking pot off and mixing the seasoning into the noodles and dishing the noodles out to everyone. The meal carried on in silence until Shippou stood up in front of Kagome.

"Kagome I'll take the cooking stuff and the bowls and go wash them." Shippou reached down and took her empty bowl and placed it along with his by the empty cooking pot then went to retrieve the other bowls then walked back and picked up the others then headed to the stream to wash the bowls, cooking pot, and other eating stuff. When he was done he headed back to camp. Upon entering the camp he saw everyone was already asleep so he placed the clean cooking stuff by the yellow bag and slid into the sleeping bag that Kagome had gotten him and fell asleep himself.

Several hours later as the night gave way for the early morning light everyone was awakened with a heart piercing scream after Kagome opened her eyes due to feeling a warm breath on her face.

"Kouga your such a cold hearted jerk to wake me the way you did. If I had a dagger it would of been in your gut by accident not knowing if your a friend or foe." Kagome yelled at Kouga as she surprised him by punching him in the gut. "What, are you doing here?" she voiced as she placed her hand over rapidly beating heart.

"Do I have to have a reason to stop by to see how my woman is and how mutt face has been treating you?" Kouga took Kagome's hands into his as he looked around. "So where is mutt face anyways?"

"Don't know, but we were going to head out soon, but now we have to wait for him to show up before we finish traveling to the village up north to whom there's a rumor of a demon bothering them and they need our assistance on getting rid of it."

"Kagome I'll go fill this pot with water." Sango walked over and got the pot.

As Sango left Kagome unzipped her sleeping bag and crawled out and stretched her arms over her head then stood and walked over and stirred the coals of the fire. Placing twigs and a piece of wood on. Not long after the fire was a small blaze. Sango showed up with the water and placed the pot on the fire then walked over to where Miroku was and leaned close to him.

"The hanyou will be delayed!" Sango whispered.

"You mean you saw him in the woods!" Miroku whispered back while he watched Sango nod.

"Yes I saw him and Kikyou in a compromising position in the middle of..., well you know what I mean! Believe me I wish I did not see that!" Sango voiced.

"Hey what are you two whispering about over there?" Kagome asked.

"Nothing really. Just asking what each of us are going to do on the new moon which will be upon us in four days time. As well as keeping our voices low for Shippou is still asleep." Miroku looked over to look at Shippou.

"Yes that's all Kagome." Sango smiled at her. Kagome gave them both the look as to say she knew something was amiss. Then she looked back down and opened four of the seven bags of ramen and poured them in the water then put the extra bags back in her yellow bag. After the noodles were done she dished them out and handed them out. But took Shippou's and walked over to the pre-adult sleeping kitsune.

"Shippou wake up and eat breakfast. The bowl is next to you." Kagome bent at the waist and placed the bowl next to him. Then she walked back to her food.

"Aaahhh, thanks." Shippou yawned out. Then sat up and started eating. Shippou looked around camp while eating. "Hello Kouga. When did you get here and where's Inuyasha?" He asked before shoving noodles in his mouth.

"Hello kitsune. I just showed up not long ago and the sad excuse for a canine is somewhere we don't know." Kouga said before looking back at Kagome. "Kagome I hate to leave you like this, but I must return to my men. We will see each other again since your close to my lands." Then Kouga kissed Kagome's hands then took off. As breakfast ended and things were cleaned and was being put away and everyone was getting ready to leave Inuyasha finally showed back up.

"Why does it smell like that wimpy wolf around here and were's breakfast?" Inuyasha bellowed.

"Because while you were gone to where ever doing whatever Kouga stopped by and as for breakfast we have already ate. So if you are hungry I'm sure you know how to hunt. So go out and catch and eat something. We are on our way towards our destination." With that everyone headed out continuing north with a not so happy hanyou following behind them.

"Hey get back here!" Inuyasha sprinted after the group as he grumbled.

As the mid-day sun hit it's highest in the sky the Inu gang reached the village and were walking towards the center of the town. While doing so they were receiving stares from people as children ran behind the adults to hid. Until a middle man walked over to them and bowed.

"Greetings travelers. What may you young people be looking for?" Sango walked over to the man.

"We seek to speak with the headman of this village. Could you take us to him please."

"Young exterminator you are speaking to the headman of this village. My name is Kozue. What brings you to seek me out?" The headman asked.

"We have heard of the demon problem this village has been having. We're come from priestess Kaede's village in the southern part of the western lands. We heard and have come to offer you our assistance in doing away the demon for you." Sango said as everyone else came closer to her.

"Please fellow me and we'll talk more about this." Kozue turned around leading the Inu gang to his humble home.

"So headman tell us where these attacks have been located and when they first occurred." Miroku asked.

"They first occurred in the rocky glean that the women go through to get to the lake were they fetch water and do their daily washing of clothes, themselves and any young children, but lately the attacks have started getting closer to the village. It all started many months ago. No one knows why." Kozue said.

"What's this demon look like?" Sango asked.

"I'm not sure. The only one's who seen it are dead. That is up until a week ago when the last attack occurred. When a boy named Akio and his family were heading for the lake, but were attacked what looks like Just as they were coming out of the village fruit orchard. My wife came upon the dead bodies of Akio's mother, two sisters and twin brother. She came back to get myself and some of the other village men and lead us to the site. We saw bloody human foot prints leading away from the bodies one of my men followed the prints and they stopped at a pool f blood with no body around to be found. One of my men came back and brought a mule pulling a cart. We loaded the bodies of Akio's sister's and twin brother onto the cart, but as the mother's body was lifted Akio was found. He was still breathing. Akio has not woken up since that day. He's staying with his aunt's." The headman told them. "Come I'll lead you to the gleen."

"Stay here old man! We don't need you getting yourself killed! Just tell us how to get there." Inuyasha voiced as he placed his hand on tetsusaiga.

"Inuyasha don't be so rude." Kagome put her hands on her hips.

"I ain't being rude. Just sayng we don't need him getting himself killed! When we can find and kill this demon." Inuyasha crossed his arms. Kagome took a deep breath and sighed and walked closer to Inuyasha and reached around Inuyasha to give him a hug.

"Inuyasha your so sweet." Kagome smiled at Inuyasha while her voice held icy sarcasm that one could read as tremendous pain that would turn into a mind numbing quietness later that night when they made camp.

"Ah oh something tells me that Inuyasha is not going to like Kagome's talk that we all know that is coming tonight." Shippou whispered in Miroku's ear in whom Shippou was standing by.

"When you walk out of this hut walk east until you come to the weapon smith's hut then head northeast following the pathway that leads into the orchard to where you can look around. To get to the rocky glean you continue on the same main pathway. When you get there at the glean the path is marked that heads to the lake. There is another way that leads into a cavern that you have to have some kind of light to see. The cavern has been empty." Kozue finished giving the instructions on where to go.

"Alright people let's head out. Kagome stay here with Kozue where it's safe." Inuyasha voiced.

"No way Inuyasha! I'm not some weakling as you think I am. I've learned how to protect myself and fight. I may not be a warrior like Sango, but I've learned a great deal more on how to use my bow and my miko powers since I've been coming to this era for six years. I was fifteen when I was pulled into this era and in a month and a half I'll be twenty-one. If you don't like it you stay here, but I'm going!" Kagome looked back at Kozue and bowed. "Thank you Kozue for the information and we'll do our best to defeat the demon quickly." With that Kagome turned and walked out of the hut with Sango right behind her.

"Way to go Inuyasha. You sure are batting a thousand with Kagome today!" Shippou walked passed Inuyasha and out the door with Miroku and Inuyasha soon following.
