Chapter One

Changes

Kagome screamed at the top of her lungs at Inuyasha for he had once again decided that he would go off with Kikyou. It wasn't unnatural for him to do so but it still hurt no matter what one said. "How could you Inuyasha? After all of the things that I have done for you and that kiss that I put my heart in, how could you?"

She ran off crying, and, as Inuyasha tried to follow, she sat him. As soon as he got up, he tried to follow again but she just sat him again. Eventually, after probably the tenth sit, he decided that it would be in his best interests to just not follow and leave her alone.

When he went back to camp, the rest of the group seemed to be furious with him. "How could you go off with Kikyou when she has given her heart to you Inuyasha?" Sango said, tears in her eyes for her best friend.

"Sango is right my dear friend. I can't blame you for your actions though. Kikyou was your former lover." Miroku said, earning a slap from Sango. "I think that it is in your best interests if you apologize to her when she comes back though, Inuyasha. The better choice is with Kagome."

The rest of the night for them was spent waiting for Kagome to come back to them. Shippo would not stop crying and wished that he had been able to jump on her shoulder when she ran off.

~~*With Kagome*~~

Kagome ran until she was sure that no one was following her. She didn't feel like seeing anyone at that moment and if there was anyone, she would most likely shoot him or her with an extra purified arrow. She didn't worry too much about demons or wild animals thinking her an easy meal. It was just ludicrous to think that she would be harmed when she was in such a foul mood.

She sat down at the base of an old tree. It seemed like the best place to be at the time.

Her feelings had been hurt too many times and this would be the last of them all if she had any say in the matter.

'What is the problem with me? Why does he keep going to her? That clay pot did not deserve such a man as Inuyasha. No, never mind. They deserve each other. They deserve to live in each other's filth.' Kagome thought, trying to make herself feel better. A tear fell down her face though she didn't know it did. How difficult was it to love someone and have them lead you on just to drop you in the mud for someone else. She felt miserable.

Eventually, she calmed down when thinking, 'If I had a choice in the matter, I would be strong enough to give him what for. I would beat his little ass into the ground with my fists instead of my words. It would be a nice change.'

Unbeknownst to herself, she voiced her wish. "I wish I could be a demon so that I could teach Inuyasha the lesson that everyone knows that he needs to learn," she said out loud, being oddly specific.

Just then an angelic looking demoness stepped out of the trees. "Your wish is my command," she said, waving her arm and granting the wish that Kagome had unnoticeably made for herself.

A bright white light illuminated the clearing. The center of it was over Kagome. The light was so dim yet so bright she didn't know what to feel. There was no heat, no smell, just the light that she thought she saw. As the light faded, so did the demoness.

Kagome breathed out slowly. She didn't have to fight. Then came the thought that maybe the demoness wasn't there to begin with. She was strangely tired. Maybe her mind had just made it up to make her think her thoughts and wishes had come true.

Looking down at her hands, Kagome noticed that there seemed to be nothing different about her. Thinking back on it though, it did seem too real to have been a hallucination. She leaned against the tree and getting comfortable.

'Who was that demon,' she thought before falling into a deep sleep.

~~*In the morning*~~

Kagome woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the smell of all the forest things. She moaned. It seemed like it shouldn't be morning yet but it was. She had woken up with the sun. She could just see it through the trees, peaking over the mountaintop.

Kagome moaned again and tried to fall asleep but found it utterly impossible. The sun was just too bright and shinning right in her face.

As she sat there, cursing the sun and it's untimely wake up hours, Kagome found that her neck wasn't as stiff as it should have been. Most of the pain she should be feeling seemed dulled in a way. Deciding that it was just her grogginess, she stood up and stretched.

Once she was thoroughly happy with the amount of joins popping, she decided to go back to the camp. It wasn't far away and only took her a few minutes.

When she got there, everyone was asleep except for Inuyasha. Still angry, she glared at him. It looked as if he had been up all night waiting for her to come back. She felt a pang of sorrow for the guy but it soon faded. Let's not forget the fact that Inuyasha had gone off to Kikyou yesterday.

When she made her appearance known, Inuyasha jumped out of the tree, pulling his sword out and facing it towards her. His reflexes were as strong as ever. "Who are you?" he said, as if he had never seen her before. This was a highly unlikely thing for him to do and she just blinked at him for a few seconds.

"Inuyasha? What's wrong?" Kagome said, eyes becoming wide with fear that something might be behind her: like the demon she had encountered last night. She slowly looked behind her to make sure that no one was there. To her surprise, absolutely no one was there.

"Leave demoness or I will have your throat." He sounded like he was trying to protect the camp from her. Entirely confused, Kagome turned back to him, raising her hands in a palliative gesture.

"Inuyasha, I have no idea what you are talking about. Why do you want me to leave?" Kagome had become a little scared at this point and even a little suspicious. What was Inuyasha doing? Was this because of all the sits she had put him through last night? It was his fault.

"I said leave, that is, unless you want me to kill you." This was almost a growl. He only used that voice when he was dealing with a demon that he didn't like or was fighting at the time.

Kagome looked down at her hands. Had something actually happened last night when that demoness came up and flashed that bright light? To her surprise, she saw that where there should be fingernails, there were claws. Dark blue stripes were formed around her wrists.

Kagome's eyes widened at the change. She lifted her hands to her ears and noticed that they were pointed at the tips. "No," she said breathlessly. "No, it couldn't be." She dropped to her knees, looking at her hands again. She hadn't actually wanted to change into a demon to kick Inuyasha's ass. It was more a passing fancy.

"What is your problem demoness? Leave before I have to kill you." Inuyasha growled almost with concern.

"Don't you recognize me Inuyasha? I'm Kagome. Can't you smell that fact?" Kagome was on the verge of tears. She bet her sent had changed well if he hadn't found out that it was her yet.

"Don't you dare even try to impersonate Kagome, demoness. Now, leave before I have to kill you!" This time his voice was unforgiving and it hurt her to the core. He had never used that voice on her before, though she was sure she had used it on him.

Kagome didn't need to be asked again. She got up and ran back into the woods and to the place she had been last night. Kagome had to know what happened to her. She needed to find out.

She arrived at the place she had slept moments afterward, calling out for the one that had changed her. "Demoness," she yelled. "Demoness, where are you?"

Just then the same demon from last night floated out of the woods like she had done before. "Yes, my dear Kagome. What do you want?" The only way to fully describe the demon in front of her was fairy godmother like, except for the fact that she had a bug like face. Her eyes were large and had purple stripes running down the centers of each eye. Antennae stuck out over each eye. Her wings were transparent and her kimono was deep shade of violet.

"How do you know my name and what has happened to me? Who are you?" Kagome said, almost desperately. She needed to know what was going on. It wasn't a normal thing that happened.

"I am Tenshi, the great wish demoness. Many have sought me out for I can grant their deepest desires. You wished last night to become a demon and I granted your wish." Tenshi said in a voice deserving of her looks.

Kagome stood there for a while, processing, if slowly, what every word meant. "Please change me back," Kagome pleaded with Tenshi. She didn't want to be a demon. There were too many things that were bad that could happen to unsuspecting demons.

"I am only able to grant wishes my dear Kagome, not pleas." Tenshi replied in a sorrowful voice. Her face did not change, however, Kagome didn't think she could in this form.

"I wish that I was back to the way I was before then," Kagome said, trying this out instead.

"I am sorry my dear Kagome. Your heart is not in this as your heart was in the wish last night. You will like your changes Kagome. Look for yourself." At that point Tenshi waved her hand and a mirror flashed in front of Kagome. "Not only that, but I can't grant to anyone more than one wish."

Kagome looked a lot like Sesshomaru, she noticed. She was taller and more defined than she used to be. Dark blue stripes showed in every place that Sesshomaru's did (strangely enough). The only things missing were that mark on her forehead, the fluffy thing that was always draped over Sesshomaru's shoulder, and her hair was pitch black instead of white.

Kagome touched her cheek just to make sure it was herself. The mirror followed every movement that she made. It wasn't her, yet it was her.

She fell to her knees, hand still to her cheek. A tear soon followed her example.

"There, there child. It is nothing to be sad about. You are no ordinary demoness. You are one of great importance. I gave you the form that is most closely related to your personality. Kagome, you are a royal inu demoness." As if that would make her feel better.

Kagome walked through the woods. The words from Tenshi were still ringing in her ears. 'You are a royal inu demoness.'

'Why did I have to be a dog demoness? Couldn't I have been a cat instead?' she thought, like being a cat would have been any better than a dog. It didn't help any that Inuyasha was a half dog demon. Kagome no longer thought about actually being a demoness. It was more the fact that she had to be a dog demoness that made her wonder.

'I've been around Inuyasha too long,' she thought once again. How many times this thought had come to her mind, she no longer knew.

Kagome wandered on in the opposite direction that she thought Inuyasha was in. She didn't care where she was or who's lands she was in, just that she wanted to get as far away from Inuyasha as she could. For all she knew though, he could be right in front of her.

When she finally stopped, it was on the edge of the forest near a stream. It's sound calmed her in a way she didn't know of. Kagome stared at the water cascade over the rocks that were just beginning to become smooth.

A thought passed through her head of Inuyasha leaping up into trees like he was just hopping over a stone. She went over to the nearest tree and looked up. Now that she was a demoness, didn't she have the powers?

For a while she just stood there, wondering if she had to call on anything special like she had to when she used her purifying powers. She then wondered if she had any purifying powers or not.

Kagome jumped as high as she could but it was no higher than she would have been able to jump if she was a human.

"Well, that explains my theory," she said, thinking out loud. "I definitely can't defend myself then if I get in trouble." Demons didn't have purifying powers. They only had their super strength and strange skills.

'I don't even know how to call on whatever I have. I couldn't defend myself even if I had a weapon,' she thought and sat down under the tree she had thought to jump into.

Just as if that thought had summoned the thing she was dreading; a powerful demon aura filled the air. It was somewhat familiar though she couldn't remember whom it belonged to. She didn't know whom it was but she was not going to find out either.

Kagome ran into the bushes and hid there, hoping that the demon would not find her. It wasn't a very good hiding spot, but if he were so terribly powerful, he probably wouldn't want to fight someone so weak.

Minutes passed as the aura got stronger and stronger until it was right beside her. It stopped and stiffed the air. Great, everything that she had hoped wouldn't happen, just happened in a matter of a few seconds.

Kagome looked through the leaves of the bush and found that it was Sesshomaru. Her fears became worse in just a matter of a minute. It wasn't right. Why was this happening to her? Not only that, but he seemed to be getting close to where she was.

Her fight or flight response was kicking in. Seeing that she couldn't possibly fight and win with him, Kagome bolted out of the bush and ran in the opposite direction. He saw her and she knew it. The chase was on.

She leapt through the forest with ease. Her demon seemed to be showing at last as she raced for what was most likely her life. Sesshomaru wasn't one to let someone go just like that. He was following her with even more ease than she had at the moment.

Sesshomaru followed close behind only slowed by his thoughts. 'Who is this girl? Why was she in the bushes? And why is she running away from me? Is she who the demoness had talked about?'

Soon enough though, the demoness came to a dead end. She backed up to the rock wall, fear and terror clearly written in her eyes.

He stopped right in front of her, his face as expressionless as possible. His face was always expressionless though. Sesshomaru noticed that she had the markings of a noble but the cloths of a peasant. It was an oxymoron if he ever saw one. Kagome was been wearing the cloths given to her by one of the villagers in Kaiede's village. This was the one that he had been told about.

"Who are you?" Sesshomaru finally asked, but she didn't answer.

"I will not ask twice," Sesshomaru stated. His voice was only minorly threatening.

This seemed to hit the spot and Kagome answered. "I am Kagome Higurashi."

"The strange girl who stands by the side of my half brother?" he asked, clearly confused. Kagome only nodded, knowing he wouldn't believe her. "I have never seen you by his side. Do not lie to me girl." Sesshomaru said, venom in his voice. 'I will not deal with a little liar no matter how cute she is...Where did that though come from?'

It was true. This demoness possessed qualities that made her attractive.

"I am not lying Lord Sesshomaru," Kagome said confidently. "I was the one who shot that arrow at Inuyasha's sword when you had gained control over it."

"You are claiming that you are the ningen onna that I nearly killed many times, yet you do not look or smell anything like her. I'm not sure if you noticed, but you are not a ningen." This was her, he knew it was. She was exactly like the description.

"That is true, Lord Sesshomaru," Kagome said with a little more confidence found only because she realized that all he wanted was answers. Hopefully, he wouldn't kill her if he didn't find out all of his answers.

"Explain yourself," Sesshomaru ordered her.

"No," she said confidently again. This newly acquired confidence would cost her.

"If you do not explain yourself then I have no choice but to take you as my prisoner until you do." Sesshomaru said nonchalantly, reaching out for her arm. He had fully planned on taking her anyway, but this was more called for.

She tried to pull away and get out of his grasp but found it useless. His grip had more power than she had in her pinky.

'What am I going to do now?' she thought, wishing that she had just answered Sesshomaru's questions. Little did she know it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Author's note: I believe that the fluffy thing on Sesshomaru's shoulder is neither a boa nor a tail. You never really see it attached to his behind and I refuse to admit that Sesshomaru would ever wear anything as embarrassing as a boa. Truth be told it could be any number of things but no one really knows. If you have any accusations to this, I will proudly take them. You all have your right to think it is anything but in this story it will be considered a fluffy thing. It pleases me to think so. Thank you for your thoughts. Aishiteru all ^_^
