Carnival Town by Lady Hime

Carnival Town

Carnival Town

The lights flickered in the small carnival town, ready to close by 12pm. It was New Years night, the town opened up especially late for the occasion. The last of the fireworks were set, blooming in different colors in the dark night sky. A few people lingered. Some were just hanging around for fun, but most were staff people and cleaners. Some were like Kagome Higurashi, reflecting the past on a bench near a Ferris wheel. She had spent 4 long years in Sengouku Jidai. The Shinkon no Tama fused with her body once more, not letting anyone a chance to make a wish first. Naraku was dead. Kagura and Kanna were free, and thanked Kagome and her group for it. During the last battle, Kouga and Sesshoumaru had joined up with them. Kouga and Inuyasha went into a truce of some sort, but nothing will stop Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru for getting at each other’s throat (well, Inuyasha mainly).

“How time flies.” Kagome murmured to the wind. Her black tresses swayed with the breeze as she leaned her head back to gaze at the star filled night.

It took 2 weeks to find Naraku, and during that time, a lot of things had happened. Sango and Miroku were engaged to each other, and promised to come out of the battle alive together. Shippo had grown during the 4 years, and was now up to Kagome’s forearm. He had developed his kitsune tricks and fighting skills during the years and was getting pretty good at it. Kirara…well, the fire cat was still the same. Kouga had accepted that Kagome just wanted to be friends with him (finally), and mated with Ayame (much to her happiness). Inuyasha had let go of Kikyou, sending her back to hell. Kagome had let go of Inuyasha long ago, and fell in love with someone else. And the person is non other then Sesshoumaru, the great Lord of the Western Land.

A tear silently slid down Kagome’s smooth cheek. Her chocolate brown eyes blinked a few times. The stars she was gazing at were getting hazy.

At the last 3 days before the battle with Naraku, Kagome was left with Sesshoumaru at camp while the others went off to do other things. Inuyasha and Kouga to look for trails, Sango and Miroku went for a walk; Shippo and Kirara went to a nearby field to play. Kagome had gotten up and retrieved her bathing supplies. She went to the edge of the clearing, but before she go, she had turned around, feeling Sesshoumaru’s gaze on her back. She had confessed her love for him very rapidly and all but ran towards the hot spring, not wanting to stay for his reactions.

A small sigh escaped Kagome’s mouth. She remembered that day clearly, remembered it like it was yesterday. She smiled.

Before Kagome had even got to the spring, Sesshoumaru appeared in front of her. She bumped into him, not being able to stop herself in time. Sesshoumaru held her to him with his arms. His left arm had grown back in record-breaking time due to Kagome’s help. He smirked.

“Silly little ningen,” Sesshoumaru said in a hushed voice while hugging the miko closer “can you not see that this Sesshoumaru had fallen for you as well?”

Kagome was so surprised, she dropped her bathing supplies to the ground, and her knees bucked. Sesshoumaru held her up. He breathed in her scent of jasmine and sakura blossoms. In a 2 weeks time, he had fallen for this warm, kind-hearted, beautiful human girl. No, women.

Kagome was speechless. The man that she loves had loved her back. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes. She had not even thought possible, that the cold ice lord had accepted her. She hugged him back. The events afterwards happened like a dream. The two had kissed, sharing the same passion for each other. All is well until after the last battle with Naraku.

Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru had finished Naraku off together. Both had wounds that still bleed, but they were satisfied that their enemy was dead…for good. Sango and Miroku sat beneath a tree to bandage each other’s wounds. Shippo and Kirara dragged Kohaku’s body towards Sango. Kagome had the almost complete Shinkon no Tama. She put in the two shards that Kouga had given to her and looked towards Kohaku. Sango’s eyes welled up at the sight of her dear brother. She nodded weakly at Kagome. Kagome went to Kohaku and kneeled beside him.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered. She then pulled the last Shinkon no Tama shard out of the younger boy’s back. Kohaku’s eyes dimmed, his body slumped even more. The silence was deafening. Sango’s heartbroken wail broke the silence.

Kagome smiled as she remembered the events afterward. She went towards the Ferris wheel and paid for the ride. A song had started playing in the carnival town to those that are still there. The song is Carnival Town by Norah Jones.

Round ‘n’ round

Carousel

Has got you under its’ spell

Moving so fast…but

Going nowhere

Sesshoumaru had pulled out Tensaiga and slashed it at Kohaku. His soul had never left his body during Naraku’s control over him. Kohaku’s eyes cleared, his breathing started. Kohaku lived. Sango had thrown herself shamelessly at Sesshoumaru’s feet, thanking him over and over again. Sesshoumaru just nodded. A bright light engulfed the whole area. Everyone’s eyes snapped towards Kagome. She had united the shard and the Shinkon no Tama is whole once again.

Up ‘n’ down

Ferris wheel

Tell me how does it feel

To be so high…

Looking down here

The Shinkon shone brightly and was hovering in the air in front of Kagome. Slowly, the jewel pushed itself into her. Merging with her once more. Kagome started to fade, along with her backpack.

“KAGOME!!!” everyone rushed forward.

“No!” Kagome started crying frantically. “I don’t want to go yet!”

“Kagome…” A pained whisper brought Kagome’s eyes to Sesshoumaru. He had shoved out into the front.

“Sesshoumaru…” more tears flowed down Kagome’s cheek. “Will you wait for me?”

“I will wait 500 years for you koi, I will come back to you.”

“I love you all. Goodbye…” Kagome vanished.

Is it lonely?

Lonely

Lonely

Kagome sat in the Ferris wheel, over looking the city. ‘It’s so beautiful at night…’ She thought. The ride in the Ferris wheel ended.

Kagome had woken up in front of the God Tree. She had tried repeatedly to go back to Feudal Era. But nothing worked. Her mission was done. She cannot go back into the past. It took 3 weeks to get Kagome to calm down. Now she is prepared to go to college in a few weeks time.

Kagome saw the clown packing up his things and getting into his car. She smiled at the awkward sight. She sighed as she sat back down on the bench.

Did the clown

Make you smile

He was only your fool for a while

Now he’s gone back home

And left you wondering there

Kagome went back at gazing at the stars above. She had started writing a book about her adventures in Sengouku Jidai. She was almost finished. A publisher had read the first few chapters of the book and predicted that it will be a sellout. It will be a bestseller book. Kagome was on her last chapter now. How things had ended. It was a sad ending, making Kagome wanted to make-up something to become a happy ending in every fairy tell book. But making it up will be equal to lying herself that the events had never happened. She will be lying to herself that everything was just a dream…a long dream lifelike dream…a tale that no one will believe in, just a typical fairy tale.

Is it lonely?

Lonely

Lonely

‘What is my ending?’ Kagome thought as she closed her eyes. When she opened them, a cluster of red roses was in front of her face. She gasped.

“I kept my promise, koi, I have waited 500 years for you.” A familiar voice spoke. Kagome looked up. Her eyes welled up at the sight of him. His long silver hair contrasted against the dark night. His golden eyes gazed into her soul. He wore a black dress shirt and black slacks.

“Sesshoumaru!” She threw himself against him. Sesshoumaru put down the roses on the bench and hugged her to him.

“I have waited so long…oh how I missed you Kagome.” Sesshoumaru buried his nose into her hair. Inhaling the scent he had missed so much.

“Sesshoumaru…” Kagome cried against his shirt.

The two lovers had united under the moon and stars. Kagome had thought of her ending for her book. The ending was a happy one in the end. The ending was happy, and true. Kagome and Sesshoumaru had re-united. The rose of love bloomed under the night.

The End…
