Chapter 1

Today had been the worst day of Kagome's life. She had had an argument with Inuyasha, ran away from her friends, and was now lost in the woods.

"Ugh, great! I'm lost, Inuyasha doesn't care about me, and I'm all alone! All I need now is for it to rain and then this will officially be the worst day ever!"

As if summoned by her words, a great downpour erupted.

"Great. Now I'm soaked to the bone. How could this day get any worse!"

"I know how it could get worse for you, but today is a great day for me!" yelled a demon as he jumped out of the bushes to her left.

A pair of amber eyes surveyed the scene before him. He, Sesshomaru, watched the tiger demon threaten the young human he had been following.

'Well now,' he thought, 'this could be interesting. Let us see if Inuyasha's wench can help herself.'

He watched as the tiger demon pounced on the girl just as she turned to run away. He saw her getting slashed by the demon in the back. Sesshomaru covered his ears as a high-pitched scream erupted from the mouth of the girl.

"Damn wench! Must she be so loud!"

That was when he noticed her trying to say something. He uncovered his ears and twitched them forward so he could hear her.

"D-d-damn you! I am not h-having a good day! N-n-now die!" she said as she slammed her hand into her attackers face.

"Like that will help." Sesshomaru thought aloud

But then a burst of pink light erupted form her hand engulfing the demon. The tiger youkai gave one last shriek of pain as he dissolved away. With that, Kagome closed her eyes and fell to the ground, dead.

"So, she does have purification powers. I had almost given up hope. She will be of use to me after all."

He was about to jump off the branch he had sat on to view the fight but stopped when he saw a white light appear next to Kagome.

'What is this?' he thought, 'I will investigate.'

He jumped off the branch and made his way over to the clearing in which Kagome lay. As he drew in closer he saw that the white light had been replaced with a woman in a white kimono. She had hair like gold and eyes like the sky her complexion was pale. But she seemed to shine with a radiance that complimented her personality.

"My dear Kagome," she finally said, "Such a tragedy should not befall a special girl such as you. Live."

A golden light shot from her hands and flowed into Kagome's body. Slowly her mouth opened to allow fresh air in, her face gained the look of life once more, and her eyes fluttered open. The wounds on her back faded away repairing the skin and her torn clothing. She sat up and looked at the figure sitting in front of her.

"Who are you and why did you save me?"

"I am Naomi, daughter of Queen Amethyst of the moon and King Orion of the sun. I am the Guardian of all Mikos and Demonesses on Earth. I saved you because the future of the Earth depends on your survival."

"What do you mean?"

"You are an important component in my plan for the future. I am here to ask you to take part in my plan."

"Why do you need to ask me?"

"Because my dear, if something in my plan goes wrong, you might have to give up your life."

"Oh, but why me?"

"Because you are the holder of an ancient miko's power. One that, if used properly, can change the entire future of this world. If you like your time the way it is, then harnessing this power will be the only way to ensure the future will turn out correctly."

"Who was this ancient miko whose power I hold? And why did I receive her power?"

"Her name was Kiroku. She had power and beauty that rivaled that of a god. She was the most powerful miko to walk the earth."

"She was that strong!"

"Indeed. As to why you received her power, it is most likely because you were the one destined to travel through time and if your body can handle the shikon no tama then your body can handle Kiroku's power. Even though her power exceeds the jewels."

"So, how do I use this power?"

"During your travels your powers shall be released. There is one small problem though."

"What is that?"

"You can't defend yourself. At least now with the small amount of power you wield now."

"So what can I do?"

"You have two options. One, go back to Inuyasha and continue to travel with him, or allow me to transform you into a full-blooded youkai of your choice."

'She will choose my brother, no doubt about that. But I need her. I will not let her go so easily.' thought Sesshomaru.

"If I choose to be a demon, will I be able to disguise myself as a human?"

"Indeed. There are many people who could use the information that you are a demon against you. I will not allow you to go through such hardships."

"Thank you for clearing that up for me. I have made my decision."
