Prologue - The full moon

Prologue - The full moon

She couldn't go on like this. She raced away from her friends so fast and hard her legs ached. She glanced back every couple of seconds making sure she wasn't being followed. The wind began to howl as the trees swayed reaching towards her, trying to grab her. Finally her small body slammed into a tree, clinging to the truck so hard her fingers began to embed into its rough bark. Her choked sobs echoed through-out the dark forest. Gaining her courage her sapphire eyes brimmed with hot tears glared at the night sky. A huge cloud that covered the moon slowly began to lift.

Pushing her body away from the tree she began to run. Running away from her friends, running away from her family, running away from her reality. All she wanted to do was run. Running was the only thing she could do. The only thing she knew how to do. Finally her body gave in, collapsing onto the earth. The wildly beating of her heart made her mad. Her blood began to boil. The sound of cracking drum through her skull. Raising her trembling arm the skin grew purple. Her bones began to shift from inside her flesh. Enable to breathe in any oxygen from her dry throat she felt like every piece of her was on fire. This could only mean one thing. Her transformation was starting.

Wanting to scream out her pain, only to find she had no voice. Her limbs began to twitch. She could hear her bones break then shifting into another position. Wrapping her trembling arms tightly around her small frame trying to suppress the pain. Moaning and whimpering were the only sounds she could muster. Rocking her body in a slowly motion she repeated four words over and over again in a pleading cry.

"I will not change."

The cloud lifted revealing a full moon. Her breath caught in her throat. Snapping her head up towards the moon so fast you would think her neck would break. Her teeth grew into sharp fangs. Closing her eyes and shaking her head back and fourth she knew from her earlier depression she couldn't avoid tonight's transformation. Feeling her body pulse immediately stopped any movement of her body. Her fingers began to drive into the earth. Her raven hair curtained around her face hiding it from view. Her nails grew into long sharp claws. Her skin grew a deep purple highlighting her veins. Her eyes snapped opening revealing a deeper shade of blue. Her bones began to spike up tearing through her clothes. Slowly her skin began to rip off leaving black fur. Her face grew long and soon she had two long ears on top of her head.

A loud howl emerged from the newly transformed werewolf.

Its acute ears could hear a pin drop from a mile away. Its eyes could pierce through the darkness. Its nose could smell the fear from right off your body. Its fangs and claws would tear through your flesh. Break your bones like they were tooth pits.

Standing on its hind legs it reached the branches of a fifty foot tree. Before you could blink it was gone, disappearing into the shadows of the night.

::Sunrise::

A body lay sleeping on the grass behind a scrub. The sunlight violently beamed down on her eyelids. Moaning in response her arm raised up blocking the sunlight from her eyes. Her dark hair was spread over the grass. Slowly raising her sore body into a sitting position a slight shock of pain shot through her side. Looking at her body you could see why she was sore.

Her body was covered in many scratches and bruises. The cold morning breeze blew past her bare skin. Bring her hand to rub her head she glanced around at her surroundings. 'W-what happened?' she thought vaguely.

Looking down she realized she was naked. Gasping she crossed her arms in front of her breasts. She had a huge bruise on her side indicating a broken rib. Many small and large scratches plagued her body. She felt like her head was slammed hard against something. The only she needed to do was to find a river and some clothes.

After speeding to a local village that claimed they were attack by some sort an inuyoukai. She scanned the area only noticing a couple destroyed huts and a couple injured men. Without being seen she slipped onto a hut and snatched a miko garment. Slipping it quickly on her sore body she made it out of the village without being seen.

Sighing in relief she jumped into the nearest tree, looking for a river were she could wash her body. All the way there she kept thinking. 'Was it me who attacked the village?'

Finally she found a small pond were she could wash her body. Pulling the miko garment from off of her body she slipped into the cold water. Shivering at the cold temperature she did a quick job washing the dry blood from off of her body. Running her fingers through her tangled hair she did a good job of washing it before grabbing her clothes.

As she headed towards were her friends scent was the strongest. She tried to remember what happened last night. Every time she tried she would be disappointed.

Landing silently on the next branch she inhaled a deep breath. "Whatever happened I'm glad I forget." she sighed.

"Hey, where the fuck is Kagome!?" A silver haired hanyou shouted.

His response was many moans and groans.

"InuYasha quite down!" A masculine voice muffed.

"Feh, its sunrise and you guys are still sleeping," he growled. "Well need to get searching for the jewel shards."

"InuYasha we have search for countless days and haven't found even one shar_."

"Kagome! Miroku, Sango Kagome's gone!" A small voice yelled.

"Feh, I told you she wasn't here." InuYasha snorted.

"What!" Two voices said at the same time.

Miroku and Sango searched the camp and found no sign of their friend.

"W-where could she be?" Sango stuttered. "What could have happened to her?"

"This is your entire fault InuYasha!" A small fox youkai yelled pointing at him.

InuYasha snorted refusing to look at him. "Don't blame me."

"You drove Kagome away by your meetings with Kikyou." he cried.

Suddenly the camp went silent.

InuYasha eyes narrowed. He grabbed Shippo by his fluffy tail. "That's none of you business." he spat.

"SIT."

The beads on InuYasha's neck drove him into the ground.

Blinking in surprise they glared at Kagome who was emerging from the forest.

"Kagome!" Three voices cried at the same time.

Sango, Miroku and Shippo ran past InuYasha fallen figure and embraced their friend.

"Are you alright?" Sango asked.

She nodded. "Hai, I'm fine."

"Where the have you been!" InuYasha shouted after heaving his body from out of his crater.

"I went for a walk," she replied. "I'm sorry I worried you."

"We are glad you are alright." Miroku said.

Kagome smiled. 'If only you knew the truth.' she thought sadly.
