Beauty queen of only eighteen

She had some trouble with herself

He was always there to help her

She always belonged to someone else

Kagome Higurashi was easily the most beautiful girl in her school, though no one knew of her secret troubles. The 'behind the scenes' part of her life. Sesshoumaru Taisho always seemed to be there to help her, make sure she was ok. No matter how much he watched her and protected her, his brother Inuyasha always seemed to have her in his arms, breaking her heart constantly.

I drove for miles and miles

And wound up at your door

I've had you so many times but somehow

I want more

Sesshoumaru drove around the city, remembering the night before. Kagome had run into his room, frantic. Inuyasha was angry for some reason, and had struck her. She cried into his chest while he cradled her lovingly. Many times this happened, and Inuyasha just continued to break the girl.

Before Sesshoumaru knew what had happened he pulled into Kagome's driveway; the shrine in which she lived. There was a longing deep inside him. He wanted to hold her again. Quickly, the demon ran to her door, but caught a sight that tore at him. Inuyasha was up in Kagome's room with her, sitting and talking. He hadn't caught sight of him due to the rain, and Sesshoumaru was content with that as he dropped the single rose he had brought and left.

I don't mind spending everyday

Out on your corner in the pouring rain

Look for the girl with the broken smile

Ask her if she wants to stay awhile

And she will be loved

She will be loved

While Sesshoumaru drove, visions of Kagome drifted through his mind. He knew he loved her, but as long as she believed in his brother, they could never be. Sometimes he would feel like a stalker, sitting on the shrine steps and listening to Kagome's melodic voice singing silently. A few times she would come out and talk to him, only thinking he was there because it was one of the only peaceful places in the city. She would only be able to stay for little bits at a time, until he would convince her to stay longer... only wishing for her love.

Tap on my window knock on my door

I want to make you feel beautiful

I know I tend to get so insecure

It doesn't matter anymore

Kagome rapped frantically on Sesshoumaru's door. Quickly he opened it, only to have a tear stained Kagome lunge at him, hugging him tightly and sobbing uncontrollably. He felt helpless as he carried the weeping girl to his bed, wrapping her in the warm blankets. There they sat, Kagome leaning against him, her sobs slowly ceasing. He felt strange there, like something wasn't right. This had happened many times before, but he had never felt like this before around her really. Had he given up on her? This seemed to be a routine. Did he just not care any longer?

It's not always rainbows and butterflies

It's compromise that moves us along

My heart is full and my door's always open

You can come anytime you want

Life wasn't always as perfect as the girl made it out to be. It was full of hardship, but Sesshoumaru felt himself worrying more and more about the girl, always wanting her to come to him... to come to him seeking love instead of his brother. His heart longed for the beauty that he constantly saw... in his brother's arms.

Sesshoumaru found himself sitting on Kagome's steps again while she helped her grandfather clean around the shrine. She would laugh every once in a while, brightening his mood. In her laugh was a sense of sadness though; sadness he wanted to get rid of.

I know where you hide

Alone in your car

Know all of the things that make you who you are

I know that goodbye means nothing at all

Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls

He was walking down the street when he saw her, hiding in her car with tears streaming down her face. How had this happened? Sesshoumaru walked over and entered the passenger seat, scaring the sorrowful girl. When she saw who it was, tears poured down her face even more. What had his brother done to her?

"Are you ok?" he asked, though his throat was raspy. She hiccupped slightly and looked away.

"Inuyasha went to Kikyo today... But that's ok... I know he still loves me..." she whispered with half-lidded eyes. Sesshoumaru stared at her in disbelief. She knew for a fact that Inuyasha had left her, but Kagome continued to stay with him. "I will not give up on him..." They sat in silence as Kagome got over her sobs... the night darkening with every minute that soared passed.

Sesshoumaru found himself standing on Kagome's steps once again, surprisingly tears drifted down his pale cheeks. The perfect stripes that painted his skin mirrored in the salted drops that fell from his golden eyes. She was there again with her brother, a pretend happiness on her face. Why would she always do this to herself? He held the roses he had bought close to his chest, breathing heavy. Sesshoumaru closed his eyes, not seeing Kagome look out of her window to see him throw the bouquet into a trash can and walk away.

Try so hard to say goodbye

It was time for him to give up on his beauty.
