Chapter 1:: Abusive Family and New School

AN:: Soooo sorry it took soo long to update. I have been seriously busy. I tell ya, not many people will admit that ninth grade is a busy time of your life, but it is!!!! For me, anyhow. Well, I will try and finish this up and update my other two fics, 'Death Only Brings Us Closer' and 'Memory Lane' for those of you who like those ones. I have too much on my hands right now and need help on all my fics so anyone who has the time to beta them for me, email me at flaming_kitsune@hotmail.com Thanks guys, for all the reviews. Love you reviewers!!! And even flamers. I can't believe some people hate flames. They tend to help me out sometimes more than reviews. You learn from mistakes, you know. Although, if someone outright yells about a mistake, I will seriously yell back, as much as an email can!! Well, on with the story!!!

Disclaimer: I do not own InuYasha or any of the characters. I do, however, own the creations Dameon and Aymia, along with any other character you see that is definetely not in this great series. Ja

Love, the biggest pain in the butt and definitely worst author on ASSKS, ~*TaiYoukai*~

Ah-Un rolled their eyes at the young girl's antics. Aymia was jumping up and down excitedly upon their backs continuously, watching her older brother take charge of the organization of the caravans, their father's usual place. Her excitement was bubbling up in the same fashion as had her mother's, once upon a time. Not only had she inherited her chocolate brow eyes, (how come some people say Kagome has blue eyes???) but her actions, also.

Arms wrapped around her, earning a yip of surprise. She turned to find the face of a mischievous, yet familiar, kitsune. "SHIPPOU-KUN!!!!!" She screamed, much to the displeasure of all the surrounding youkai, especially the poor Ah-Un. She plowed into the red-heads chest, knocking the pair of them off of a relieved twin-headed dragon.

After hugging him and, much to his embarrassment, kissing him, she released him into her brother's grasp. Dameon grasped his brother-like friend, grinning from ear to ear, showing more emotion than he ever did with someone other than his little sister.

"Where have you been Shippou? I've missed you!" Where he thought of Shippou as a brother figure, he knew his sister, who had only know him for around twenty years of her life {I'll explain at the end of this chapter}, thought of him as her best friend in the whole palace.

Dameon had grown up around the sometimes rambunctious kitsune. His sister, on the other hand, had known him only a part of her life, since he had been away for the last sixty or so years.

"Well, I've been around, tell ya that much. Spent a good bit of it with Kirara in China, but I did go to the far south for a bit." He winked. "Also met one hell of a cute arctic kitsune down there. Wow was she beautiful. A princess, too. Too bad she was betrothed to some prince in an eastern palace." He grinned.

"My lord Dameon, the caravan is ready and awaits your signal." A tiger youkai, Dameon's advisor and sensei, Val, bowed. Dameon looked behind them at the thirteen carriages and wagons loaded up with not only gifts for the host of the council meeting, but also the lower class lords and ladies of Lord Sesshoumaru's court. His Father's adopted daughter's, Lady Rin's, eldest grandson and his wife were there also, having the honorary spot of the only human to ever be on Lord's Sesshoumaru's court, and were right behind Ah-Un.

Dameon grinned and lifted his voice in load roar that might have reached the heavens. He had almost exceeded his father in that aspect. With that, the caravan moved foreword. Dameon leapt atop Ah-Un and awaited his sister's familiar presence.

Instead, he looked over to find her seated in front of Shippou on the great fire-demon, Kirara. Shippou gave him a shrug as if to say, what's a kit to do? Obviously 'Mia had taken it upon herself to switch rides.

"Brother, I want to ride with Shippou-kun, alright?" She grinned cheekily before leaning unconsciously into Shippou, her tail wiggling in anticipation. The kitsune's tail went stiff and many of the surrounding youkai chuckled as a deep blush overtook him. From what all had heard, the kit was a real charmer with the ladies and to see him get this embarrassed was a real treat. They took off, heading east. Dameon noticed, and he growled lightly. He too had heard of the kitsune's antics and he would be damned if he let his sister fall for someone like that, brother or no.

"BROTHER!!" He finally noticed his sister's yelling and cringed at the loudness of it, knowing other nearby youkai were doing the same. How did that girl yell that loud without blowing out her own eardrums? He shook his head at the miracles this world had to offer.

"Yes, dear sister? What is it?" He loved his sister dearly and would no doubt die for her, but how childish could one eighty year old demoness get? And half the questions she asked were, excuse his thoughts as he used a word his mother often used, stupid. He knew the truth though. She refused to grow up. She was nearly as strong as he was, but she knew that throughout her life, she would more than likely be married off and taken care of by some powerful lord. She had no reason to act her age. And no matter what some of her questions were, they were used to cover up her conniving nature.

"I was wondering why Mama and Papa didn't come to this meeting. Why would they send us? I mean, yes, they could have sent you because you need to learn this important stuff? But why send me too?" This girl was to smart for her own good. She knew he would tell her and she was right. He couldn't keep anything from her. But he had wanted to protect her from the truth.

"The truth of the matter is, 'Mia, that if I don't live to becoming lord by next council meeting, two years from now, then you need to know the things about becoming the Lady of the Western Lands. Most lords would have their daughter married to someone powerful and have them become Lord of the Lands, but Father has different views." He paused for a breath but continued quickly before she could interrupt. Kirara pulled closer, as if listening also.

"Our lands, sister, have been ruled by someone of our line for five thousand years, whether they be male of female. It is usually the first born, but should that heir fail and die, it goes to the next in line. If I should die, which very well may happen, the title of Lady of the Western Lands shall go to you, the second and only child left. That is why it is important to also introduce you to the Lords and Ladies now, so they may know your worth if I should depart from this plane." He stopped, waiting for her demands. To his infinite surprise, she replied calmly.

"I understand, brother. But that does not mean I believe you will fail. You are strongest, second only to Papa. No one is strong enough to defeat you." She stated this last sentence with a confidence so believably, he nearly didn't hear her voice quiver.

"What is heavy upon your heart, sister?"

"If you do die, how could I keep the lands as mine? I am not powerful enough to hold them. Will other youkai not fight my claim to them, as they will when you become Lord? I am not strong enough to do so." She felt Shippou's arms wrap around her in a soothing motion. The tears that had threatened to spill from her eyes were quickly blinked back so her eyes could watch her brother's expression clearly.

"Sister, you, as well as I, know you have more power than you let on. You hide your power from everyone well, maybe so well you yourself do not know its true boundaries. I have seen you train.....your power is tied to your emotions. AND you tend to twine your energy around that staff of your's, though you have yet to tell father you are using life energy for that." He smiled knowingly at the ebony wooden staff clutched in her hands.

Her weapon of choice, though she was skilled with the sword at her side and the bow at home. Her staff, an ebon-wood with a silver end and a crystal globe the size of a heart on the top, was named Luner. In its crystal globe it held the swirls of one energy and two liquids; the energy being her mother's miko energy and the liquids being her father's poison and her own blood. As far as she knew, no one had know she had fed her blood to the staff. And no one had known the silver vein-like lines etched in the dark wood was her own life energy she had fed it. In any case, it was powerful. Healing power and killing power wrapped in one weapon made it unequaled even by her father's swords, Tokijin and Tenseiga, and her mother's, Tetusaiga.

"How did you know that about my staff, brother?" She clutched it to herself tightly, her knuckles white and her serious face few had seen just below the surface of her clenched jaw.

"'Mia, as your brother, I made a promise to protect you when you were a newborn babe. I feel your energy and I know where all of it is hidden. I knew of your power, while father and mother have not. Why do you think I had that staff made? I knew you would need it someday to channel that energy. I convinced Father and Mother to add parts of themselves to it. I know every new level of power you reach. At this moment, you are more powerful than even I. More powerful than father. Your blood was the perfect balance of miko and demon blood, causing your rising of power. And I know why you hide behind that childish façade. You wish you were a child, where things are simple." He didn't continue, and she knew the rest. She nodded in understanding.

"Thank you brother. Shippou-kun, would you mind if I rested against you?" Without waiting for a reply, she leaned into his chest and before long was sleeping peacefully.

"I'll be back in a moment." Dameon tapped the reigns against Ah-Un's neck and yanked them left. He was soon at Val's side.

"Is everything alright down here?"

"Yes, Milord. Everything is going according to plan. We should camp in a few hours, however. It will take us, with the caravan, an entire week to reach the fortress fo Lord Mirio."

"Yes, we will camp soon." With that, Dameon took to the air again, pulling in aside Kirara. His sister still slept peacefully and he smiled gently at her.

"You know, my mother once told me that my father hid his feelings behind a cold façade that took years for her to get through." He said softly to Shippou.

"Yes, that is true. He hid behind it, even as he tried to kill us." He grinned, though his voice was just as soft.

"Well, my sister is like that also. She hides behind a cheerful façade, though her feelings may be grim, heart-breaking, or even murderous. Do you know that she once told me that no one has ever known her true heart but the two of us. Its funny, her parents, no, but her best friend and elder brother, sure, why not." His grin matched Shippou's, before he turned soft eyes once again to his younger sister.

"You know, you never told me why you returned." He said playfully. Shippou's cheeks grew bright red and his hands shook.

"Did your parents ever tell you of an arrangement made a week after 'Mia's birth?" Dameon's eyes turned curious and that was answer enough. "I was betrothed to her, and to be married when you became Lord of the West. Mother sent a messanger to me in China to tell me to come home, so I came. She is kinda mad at me for not getting to know 'Mia enough before our marriage." He turned down-cast eyes to the caravan stretched out beneath them.

"So your marrying my sister? Wow, that's weird." The protective brother was unusually calm.

"So, you're ok with it?"

"I guess. It'll take some getting used to, but I'm sure I'll learn to deal. But later, if you have any juicy sex stories you'd like to share about the two of you, definetely don't tell me." He laughed quietly and Shippou joined him, his ribs tingling.

"Milord!" Val called to them. "A terrific campsite has been discovered up ahead! Shall we stop early?"

Looking at his sister's sleeping form, he smiled. "Yes, stop."

AN:*: Well, I think that was longer than most of my chapters, so I hoped you liked it. I guess I gotta explain what's happened, ok.

Well, about the age thing. I have no idea how demons age, so I made that, until reaching maturaty, a demon will age, for every ten years, one year. Ok, that understandable? Dameon is technically 19, in looks, but he is actually almost one hundred. Aymia is around eighty but looks 16 or 17. Shippou is about a hundred and ten, which I'll totally explain next chapter, but looks around twenty or twenty one. Don't even ask me Sesshou's age. Kagome's will be said next chapter, or an estiment of her's.

'Mia is short for Aymia.

And her staff, is as I described earlier. I made it up so when you review, tell me if you like it. And Luner is a last minute name so don't make fun of it. Besides, I like the moon!! *.* Why does Kagome have the Tetusaig, you ask? Well, next chapter will explain.

Next chapter is gonna be mostly about Sesshou and Kagome, though I doubt there will be a lemon, because my conctentration is to far off to do a lemon at the moment.

Ok, REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW and let me know how you liked it!!!! Bah-bye!! ~*TaiYoukai*~
