Weak and Poweless - A Perfect Circle

Bold and Italics =The song Weak and Powerless by A Perfect Circle.

Italics = Thoughts.

Mina- This is my first fanfic. Ever. If you rate, and you'd better, PLEASE be gentle. :) Depending on what kind of responce I get, I might continue this fic, and because I am such a despicable, filthy hentai, if I continue, the rating will most likely change to NC-17. Mwaha. So REVIEW if you want it continued. I know it's short, it was a spur of the moment kind of thing and only took me about 15 minutes to write. So, I'm sorry for lack of description and whatnot, but I promise, that if I continue it, I'll revamp this chapter so that it's longer and such.

So...Enjoy the.. story...thing. Yeah...

Tilling my own grave to keep me level,

Jam another dragon down the hole.

Kagome looked up into the evil, hate-filled eyes of Naraku as he stood proudly over his victim, his prey. Her breath caught painfully in her throat as his lips curled into a twisted smile.

"Now, now little miko," Naraku said with mock concern as the annoying wench in front of him began to tremble, "While I must admit your bravery and purity has surprised me more then once today, none of it will matter in the end."

Kagome blinked back tears as she analyzed the hopeless situation at hand. She clutched the small body of the girl, called Rin, tighter to her chest, and rose to her feet. She glanced around the battlefield that they stood upon, and could no longer hold back the tears as they streamed down her face. They weren't coming. No one was going to save her this time. She had just gotten out of the well, when a strong aura seemed to call her. Forgetting that she was alone and unarmed, she had followed it until she had come to field, where Naraku seemed to be 'playing' with a little girl. Kagome immediately recognized this girl to be that one that always travelled with Sesshoumaru, Rin. She had, without a second though, ran to help the poor girl escape from Naraku's grasp.

'I never even got to say good-bye.', Kagome thought to herself sadly, as the tears continued to fall, unchecked, 'Mama, Souta, Grandpa, Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, S-Shippou...'

The small girl in Kagome's arms moaned, and this small, significant noise was enough to bring the heart-broken miko brutally back to earth. She turned once again to Naraku, who had just stood there watching her as she recalled what had happened.

Digging to the rhythm and the echo of a solitary siren,

One that pushes me along, and leaves me so...

"Naraku,", Kagome whispered pleadingly, knowing that the hanyou would be able to hear her no matter what tone she used, "Please let Rin go, she is of no use to you, and she will only be troublesome."

The wicked hanyou just gave her a cold smile, and shot one his tentacles at her.

"You think you can order me around, wench?", He spat angrily, "We shall see."

Kagome gave a surpised yelp, and turned slightly just in time to save Rin from being hit. Kagome wasn't nearly as lucky, and she gasped in pain as the tentacle went clear into her shoulder and out the other side, only to be ripped back though again.

She dropped Rin onto the ground and fell to her knees by the young girl's side. The pain was incredible. Never had she felt anything like this. It seemed to be all over her body instead of just her shoulder. Kagome pondered this momentarily and fought the urge to slap her forehead. Miasma.

Desperate and ravenous,

So weak and powerless.

She felt as though her blood was being drained from her body. She struggled again to stand, but not before making sure Rin was still breathing. She was amazed that she could still hear a heartbeat from the girl. The miasma was so thick that Kagome could barely see. She focused her miko energy on Naraku and temporarily stunned him with the blinding violet light that came from her.

'That's it?', she thought bitterly and sarcastically as the light died down, 'What a great, powerful miko I am. I could just about rival Midoriko herself. Inuyasha was right. I'm too weak to even protect myself, let alone the ones I love and care about.'

She blinked wearily, though buying her a few precious minutes, the burst of power had left her fighting desperately for conciousness.

White as dracula,

As I approach the bottom.

Desperate and ravenous,

So weak and powerless.

Trying frantically to decide what to do, as black spots danced in front of her eyes, Kagome stilled suddenly as she felt a familar presence nearing. Sesshoumaru. He was approaching. Fast. Coming to the conclusion that the best thing for her to do was to get Rin as close to the Taiyoukai as possible, she pulled the poor unconcious girl once again into her arms and took off as fast as her battered legs could carry her in the direction from which she had sensed him. She screamed as another tentacle wrapped itself around her leg and pulled back savagely. She threw Rin away from herself, towards the foliage, as she saw the Lord of the Western Lands emerge from the thick brush that surrounded them. She smiled triumphantly as she watched him bend down and pick the small girl up, and turn to leave.

Sesshoumaru did not miss this smile and wondered about it. He put the small girl back down, at a distance where he was sure she would not fall to harm, and turned back towards to battle between the helpless miko and the powerful hanyou. Kagome saw this as she was being dragged ruthlessly back towards Naraku, and screamed out, "No! Sesshoumaru, take Rin and go! GO! Ple--"

Pale angel go away,

Come again some other day,

The devil has my ear today,

I'll never hear a word you say...

Kagome never finished that sentence. Her lungs filled with the gasous miasma that Naraku was emitting and she passed out from the poison that throbbed relentlessly in her bloodstream and head.

He promised I would find a little,

Solace and some peace of mind,

Whatever, just as long as I don't feel so,

Desperate and ravenous,

So weak and powerless.

Kagome groaned as pain forced her slim form to shake with its ferocity. Sesshoumaru watched with seeminly cold, impassive features, as the woman before him struggled for her life. They were at his castle. His home in the Western Lands. He could hardly contain his disblief as he recalled how the miko had given Rin to him, then told him to get away, to run. At first he was furious. How dare a mere filthy mortal tell the powerful Taiyoukai of the West what to do? But then he had seen her eyes. Filled with fear, determination, pain, and concern. For him. She had told him to run so that he wouldn't get hurt. Was it even possible for any wench to be so pure? So selfless? He snorted. He doubted it. Probably some sort of trick, or spell.

After Kagome had slipped into blackness, Sesshoumaru had battled it out with the worthless hanyou, Naraku. Though Sesshoumaru would never admit it, he had definitely underestimated the hanyou's power, but in the end, Sesshoumaru had won, like always. He just wished that his sword, Tokijin, hadn't been the price for the win. The sword, after being driven through Naraku's black heart, had exploded, the remains of the sword, Naraku, his incarnations, and the despicable castle in which the hanyou had resided, had all just dissapeared. All that was left was a black stone, an extremely powerful black stone that Sesshoumaru had recognized as the Shikon no Tama. It sat upon a table next to the young miko's bed. The demon lord watched this Kagome girl with interest as her breath came in short pants and her forehead released beads of sweat from a fever that her body had developed in order to fight off the poison.

Desperate and ravenous

So weak and powerless

Over you...
