Why does it feel like night today?

Something in here is not right today

Why am I so uptight today?

Paranoia is all I got left

The young girl limped through the forest covered in blood. The ground behind her glistened red from the trail she had left for anyone to follow, she didn't care. No one cared. She was just there for others amusement. Nothing but a plaything for both good and evil to toy with. She hated herself for no reason. Clear lines ran down her blood-covered face.

She collapsed on the bank of a river. She looked over her shoulder, then, on the other side of the river. Finally, she looked in the sky. She had the feeling that she was being followed. That feeling had been with her ever since she left HIS palace. She wondered if he had done anything to her before he was killed. She shook her head fiercely at the thought. She would have sensed it if he had done anything to her. Even now, when her heart is a black hole, she would have sensed it. She was sure of it. But then, why did she have that strange feeling that sent shivers up her spine? She didn't know the answer but she thought on it for a while.

I don't know what stressed me first

Or how the pressure was fed

But I know just what it feels like

To have a voice in the back of my head

Flashback

She had been captured by Naraku. He took her back to his palace where she was tortured for months. He wanted the jewel shards but she refused to tell him where she hid them. He used ever torture technique known to both man and demon. All of his " beatings" were brutal and painful but she stood strong. She wouldn't back down form him, she wouldn't give in either.

After four months of torture, her friends came to save her. They battled for what seemed like an eternity, that was, until Naraku killed Inuyasha. Her hopes of escape were destroyed when she saw Inuyasha die through the hole in the wall next to the one she was chained to. Her bloodstained body shook as tears began to fall. She couldn't believe that Inuyasha was dead. As she cried, she heard the screams of her other friends as Naraku killed them all, even Shippo and Kilala. She cried even more when she knew that no one could save her now. She was stuck in the hellhole that was Naraku's palace.

She raised her bloody tearstained face as she heard Naraku walk towards her. She threw all her feelings out as he came to stand in front of her. He raised a hand to her face but she bit him before he could touch her. Naraku pulled away as he hissed at her. Then, he smacked her. It wasn't the most painful thing he had done to her but it still stung. She looked at him with a look of pure hatred shown on her face. He smirked. Then he grabbed her by the chin. As he grasped her chin, she began to build up her miko energy for one final attack.

Naraku's crimson eyes widened as he felt the pure energy begin to course through him. He tried to pull his hand away but couldn't in time as she forced all her miko energy into his body. Naraku staggered backwards as the pure energy began to tare him apart. She watched in amazement as he exploded. Nothing was left of him but a cloud of miasma. She struggled against her restraints until they finally broke. Her weak body fell to the floor with a loud thud.

She balanced herself against the wall as she began to stand. When she was standing on her own, she looked up to see the cloud of miasma right in front of her face. The purple cloud slowly moved closer to her. She tried to run away but found that her legs refused to move. Then, the cloud flew into her through her nose and mouth. She coughed a few times before she managed to get used to the feeling of poison in her lungs.

After she began to limp away, she gained the feeling that someone was following her. She would continually look over her shoulder to make sure no one was behind her. She couldn't shake the feeling, even after she had reassured herself that Naraku was dead and he couldn't possibly be following her. She just couldn't get that feeling to go away.

End Flashback

She scooted closer to the river as she closed her eyes and filled her cupped hands with fresh water. She repeatedly doused her face with water in order to remove all the dried blood. She scrubbed till her face was soar and even then, she continued to scrub. She wanted to make sure there was no blood present on her face. After a while, she rinsed off her face and dried it off.

After her face was dry, she looked at her reflection. She looked to see if there was any dried blood left. She didn't find any. As she looked at her reflection, another reflection appeared right above hers. She looked to see Naraku's reflection. Her eyes grew wide with terror as she turned to see him. But when she turned, there was no one there. She looked back at the water and found that his reflection was still there. She began to look around franticly, looking for where he was hiding. Suddenly, she heard his voice inside her head.

" Kagome, you're never going to find me." He stated amusingly.

Kagome began to panic. She didn't like this one bit.

" Where are you Naraku? Show yourself!" she shouted into the forest.

" Kukukukuku, silly Kagome, I already told you you're never going to find me. So, why do you persist to look for me?" He asked with his evil chuckle.

Kagome continued to panic.

" I don't believe you! I know you're not dead and you're hiding in the forest somewhere, waiting to capture me again!" she shouted into the woods around her.

" Tsk tsk tsk. Poor Kagome, she can't see the truth when it's right in font of her very eyes." He teased.

" What do you mean Naraku?" she asked angry.

" Kagome, you did indeed kill me but I live in you. I transferred my soul into you. Now, you can't escape me and I can torture you to insanity. This shall be fun. Don't you agree Kagome?"

She was speechless. Naraku was living inside of her. She couldn't believe that he was inside of her. It was impossible. She didn't want to believe him but she knew it was true.

" No, it won't."

" Too bad, guess I'll be having all the fun while you suffer. Just the way I like it. Kukukukuku."

Kagome just sat there and listened to him banter and laugh until she passed out from exhaustion. All the while, dreaming of nothing but Naraku torturing her till she died. How she wished she could just die and never have to deal with Naraku ever again.

It's like a face that I hold inside

A face that awakes when I close my eyes

A face that watches every time I lie

A face that laughs every time I fall

It watches everything

So I know when it's time to sink or swim

The face inside is here in me

Right underneath my skin

Kagome couldn't escape Naraku. He was always there, inside of her, she couldn't take it. It was too much for her to handle. She tried everything in her power to get rid of him but nothing worked, not even her miko powers could get rid of him. After every attempt, Naraku would laugh at her and say, " Tsk tsk tsk, Kagome, I am a part of you now. You can't get rid of me that easily."

He would then continue to laugh at her till she fell asleep and then, he would control her dreams. He forced her to dream about all of her torture sessions and the battle where Inuyasha died. The screams she screamed in her sleep brought a smile to his wicked face.

Kagome was surprised that she had survived as long as she did with her archenemy living inside of her. She thought she would have died after the first day or two but she didn't. And now, she barely even noticed he was inside of her. The only times he made himself known were when Kagome would try to get rid of him or when he just decided to start talking and make her mad. He loved it when she would just lose it and begin yelling out loud, she just knew he did, because he would laugh at her when the people would turn and look at her like she was crazy. She knew that it was his favorite pastime next to looking through all her memories. She hated it when he would do that to because he would comment on them or make noises to show what he thought of them. That drove her crazy!

It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back

It's like a whirlwind inside of my head

It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within

It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin

Once, she had tried to kill herself. But he had stopped her. She had just killed a demon with a jewel shard. Naraku was ordering her to retrieve the jewel shard before another demon did but Kagome didn't move. She stood as still as a stone, her face was stoic. She held an arrow in her hand; she began to raise it in the air. The arrowhead shined in the light of the sun as she turned it to face her. Then, she brought it down on her chest. But, before it could hit her, a barrier appeared around her body and deflected the arrow away from her heart. Kagome stood in shock as the barrier, made of miasma, disintegrated the arrow.

Tears began to stream down Kagome's face as Naraku spoke.

"What do you think you were doing? I will NOT let you to kill yourself! If you die, I die with you! I will NOT die! Do you understand? I will NOT, I refuse to DIE!" He then gave her a punishment; he broke the wrist of the hand that had held the arrow.

Kagome screamed a blood-curdling scream as she felt someone invisible grab her wrist and twist it. Bone after bone cracked and snapped in sequence as her wrist was twisted farther then it was supposed to. After her wrist stopped twisting, the invisible hand squeezed her now broken wrist. It squeezed it so hard; the broken bones became shattered bones. When Naraku was done, Kagome collapsed on the ground and began to cry. She held her limp hand to her chest as Naraku began to speak again.

" Every time you try to pull a suicide attempt, remember, I will stop you and punish you. Kagome, you are the only thing linking me to this world and I plan to keep it that way." He paused a moment, allowing Kagome time to think about what he said.

" How can you hurt me if you're nothing but a soul?" she asked as she began to pant from pain.

" I maybe just a soul but, I can still hurt you because of the fact that I am inside of you. I can do anything I could do if I had a physical body but from inside of you. That was fun, would you be a dear and try to kill yourself again?"

Kagome stood as actualization sunk in. He could hurt her anytime he frigging wanted. Her jaw dropped when she heard his question. She refused to do anything that would cause her that much pain ever again. She clamped her jaw shut and refused to answer him.

" Kukukukukukuku, I thought so Kagome. Oh well, I know you will eventually try that stunt again and when you do, I'll be ready. I can do anything I want to you and I intend to do everything I can to drive you into madness. Do you wish to know why, Kagome my dear?" he ended with an evil chuckle.

Kagome thought a moment before answering. " Why?"

" I'm glad you asked Kagome. When you go mad, the shield around your mind will disappear and I'll be able to take full control of you. Wouldn't that be fun Kagome my dear?"

Kagome refused to answer as she thought about what he said.

I know I got a face in me

It points out all my mistakes to me

Months passed and still Kagome went on. She had had several other suicide attempts with similar results. She would find a new way to kill herself, attempt to do it, Naraku would prevent her from dieing, he would punish her then he would laugh at her while she cried from pain. She hated how he treated but she didn't expect to be treated with respect, so, therefore she wasn't surprised. But she still hated him for her treatment and he knew it. That's why he treated her that way, to quicken her trip to insanity.

You've got a face on the inside too

Your paranoia is probably worse

One cold winter night, Kagome stood at the edge of a cliff. She watched the full moon rise above the mountains in the distance. She listened carefully to the voice in her head and found that it was snoring. Kagome was relieved that Naraku was sleeping, he probably used up all the energy he stored on her last punishment and since Kagome had become an anorexic, he had no energy to gain. She smiled her first smile nine months. She turned from the cliff and walked back a good twenty feet. She just stood there staring at the ledge where she was a moment before. Kagome's blackish-brown eyes filled with joy as she took a deep breath and began to run.

In the middle of her run, Naraku woke up. He immediately began inflicting wounds upon her legs to make them stop moving but no matter what he did, she kept running. They were about to reach the ledge and they both knew Naraku didn't have the power to summon his miasma cloud. A genuine smile made its way onto Kagome's face while Naraku settled on yelling at her as loud as he could. Kagome barely heard Naraku for she was to indulged in the thought of being free and being with inuyasha to care about anything.

' One... Two... Three... Jump!' is what flowed through Kagome's mind when she reached the edge and jumped off of it. She felt the wind underneath her and knew it would all be over soon. But what Kagome failed to notice as she fell was the demonic aura that was closing in on her. Kagome's happy thoughts of death were suddenly halted as she stopped moving. Kagome opened her eyes and looked to see someone was holding her in the air. She let her head drop when she realized that they weren't going to let her fall again.

She returned to reality when she felt herself being laid on the ground. Kagome looked up at her " rescuer". He had long silver hair that shimmered in the moonlight. He was very tall and regal looking from the white outlined silhouette that she could see. What frightened her the most were his eyes. They were golden and cold. They looked as though they were frozen but not fragile. They stared at her without emotion. She froze as he kneeled down next to her. It was then that she knew who he was.

" SesshoMaru?"

He stared at her a moment before speaking.

" What do you think you were doing human?"

Kagome thought a moment. What was she supposed to say? Should she tell him that she was trying to kill herself? No, cause then he might ask why. I don't think I could answer that question without being hurt badly. Her thought was punctuated by Naraku.

" Yes, you will be hurt if you tell him why. To what extent depends on what you tell him, Kagome my dear."

I don't know what set me off first

But I know what I can't stand

Everyone acts at the fact

The matter is I can't add up

To what you can

When Kagome didn't answer, SesshoMaru began to leave. He was just about to turn and depart when he heard Kagome's shaky voice.

" I wanted to die. That's all."

SesshoMaru turned back to her. ' Why would she want to die? Doesn't she have that stupid hanyou half brother of mine to be with?'

" Why?"

" Why what?"

" Why did you want to die? Don't you have Inuyasha to live for?"

Kagome dropped her head when he said that. She didn't have Inuyasha anymore. Anyone at that fact. She didn't have anyone left to live for.

" Remember Kagome... you have me. You can't forget that you have me to live for."

" Inuyasha is dead as well as everyone else I cared about. Naraku killed them all."

SesshoMaru thought a moment. He wondered why he couldn't sense Inuyasha. He was killed by Naraku but what happened to Naraku?

" What became of Naraku? I can no longer sense him."

Kagome didn't know what to say. She couldn't tell him that Naraku was living inside of her but she couldn't tell him that Naraku was dead either because SesshoMaru would know it was a lie.

" I don't know. I tried to kill him but..." Kagome trailed off, unsure of what to say next.

SesshoMaru stared at the strange girl. Something was amiss and it was driving him mad. He thought long and hard as the girl stayed silent. Then, SesshoMaru had an epiphany. He now knew what was wrong. The girls' aura was not the same as the last time he had encountered her with his hanyou half brother. It wasn't pure but dark, tainted.

' Why does she have an evil aura? She is a miko, her aura should be pure. Unless...'

" Why do I smell Naraku's scent all over you?" SesshoMaru stated blankly.

Kagome froze. What was she supposed to say to that? She didn't know but she knew that she had to tell the truth even if it meant she would be hurt again. She didn't care.

" You know what will happen if you tell him, don't you my dear Kagome?"

' I do and I don't care. I can deal with the pain.'

" Suit yourself, don't cry out for me to stop when I do hurt you because I'll only do more to you if you do."

Kagome let out a strangled breath before speaking.

" Naraku isn't dead."

SesshoMaru's eyes widened.

" Where is he?"

" He's in here." Kagome pointed to her head. " He's in my mind and I can't get rid of him. He just won't leave me alone!" Kagome screamed.

SesshoMaru covered his ears as Kagome continued to scream. Then, suddenly, she stopped. SesshoMaru looked to see a look of complete horror on her face, her hands rested in mid air around her hips. He looked on as her jaw began to quiver and tears began to fall down her bony face.

" No..." she whispered to no one that he could see. Then he saw it, the dark aura that stretched from behind her to her hips like a pair of arms. His gaze followed the aura to its center point, right behind her. He knew that was what was left of Naraku. SesshoMaru concluded that Naraku was connected to her mind and body but actually manifested himself around her, for the sole purpose of hurting her.

SesshoMaru watched as the dark, hand like appendages that were on her hips began to press down, hard. He could hear the sickening sound of her pelvis breaking piece by piece under the pressure. His face slightly cringed as the sound became louder and louder.

Kagome's face contoured as pain shot through her body, hitting every nerve ending. She tried to cry out but couldn't find her voice through all the layers of pain that now filled her closed throat. Her eyes widened as the tears fell like a waterfall. The pain was not what she had expected, it was worse.

" You see Kagome, I can do what ever I want to you and you can't do anything to stop me. Kukukukuku. Now, Kagome, if you promise not to say another word about me or try to kill yourself, then maybe I would stop crushing your pelvis. I know you can't handle the pain, just say it and I promise that I'll stop hurting you, Kagome my dear."

His offer was like a sign from heaven at that time. Kagome did see any other choose.

' I promise that I won't kill myself and talk about the fact that you are living inside of my mind. Now, please Naraku! I beg of you! Please, stop!'

Kagome froze in complete horror as the pain grew ten fold. Naraku had lied; he didn't keep his part of the deal. It was then that Kagome realized that he had conned her. She was full on pissed but could do nothing about it because of the pain.

Kagome could no longer feel her legs let alone move them as the two ends of her pelvis met with each other, it was crushed beyond belief. The feeling was unbearable. (Think of the most painful thing that had ever happened to you and amplify the pain of that experience by one hundred and you have how much pain Kagome is in) Kagome couldn't take it anymore. A blood-curdling scream erupted from her dry throat while Naraku laughed.

" Scream all you want Kagome, it will only encourage me to cause you more pain. I love to hear that scream of yours; it's like music to my ears. Do scream more Kagome my dear."

Kagome stopped screaming when she felt a strong hand on each of her wrists. Her eyes grew as wide as saucers and her tears stopped dead in their tracks as realization flashed over her face. He was going to make her suffer like never before. Not only had he completely destroyed her hips and legs, he was going to take away her use of her hands, both of them.

Her tears began anew as her wrists began to bend in the opposite direction they normally would. The slow turning also brought on the sound of bone slowly and painfully being cracked and crushed.

Snap Crack, Snap Crack, Snap Crack, Snap Crack.

Kagome couldn't even get herself to breath as the grip Naraku had on her wrists hardened as he turned her wrists farther and farther. She tried desperately to scream but could do nothing as pain shot through her like a lightning bolt. Every nerve felt like it was on fire. Kagome tossed and turned, hoping to escape his invisible grasp.

SesshoMaru clearly showed a look of both disgust and concern on his face. He was completely disgusted by Naraku's actions. He was destroying his only link to the living world piece by piece and he was enjoying it. Kagome may have deserved a punishment but this was far too much. Her human body couldn't handle that much pain at once. She would surly fall into a coma if he continued. He wouldn't let that happen for the reason that he wanted answers and she was the only one who had them. SesshoMaru was about to attack Naraku's aura when Tokijin began to vibrate. He drew the evil blade and sliced through the purple cloud. An almost unaudioable scream could be heard as the cloud was sucked back into Kagome's head.

Kagome curled into a ball as well as she could without hurting herself and began to cry. She cried and sobbed until just before dawn. SesshoMaru just watched and waited. He was waiting for her to fall asleep so he could heal her and take her back to his palace. As the sun began to shine on the horizon, she began to whisper things. SesshoMaru listened to her fearful voice.

" Please... no more.... no more..... I'll be good just..... no more. Please... I beg of you... no more!" her body shook as those words escaped her.

Was she dreaming or was Naraku speaking to her? SesshoMaru did not know but he wished to find out. He walked over to her slumped form to find that she was indeed asleep, confirming that she was dreaming. He knelt down and slowly began to lift her up when she screamed. Her hips were the cause of her pain and he knew it. He adjusted her body so that her hips hung loose while her wrists and hands laid on her chest. SesshoMaru then took flight. The morning light covered him and the injured girl as they flew higher and faster through the skies.

But everybody has a face that they hold inside

A face that awakes when they close their eyes

A face that watches every time they lie

A face that laughs ever time they fall

It watches everything

So you when it's time to sink or swim

The face inside is watching you too

Right inside your skin

She shifted in his arms. He looked to see that she had tried to move closer to him but her shattered limbs wouldn't allow her to. Sensing her discomfort caused by the cold morning air and the fact that she couldn't move he slowly shifted her closer to him to ease her mind. With Naraku in there, her every little discomfort could be amplified and he didn't want to hear her scream. When he had finally stopped moving her, she sighed for no reason that he could see, maybe she thought he was Inuyasha or she could be dreaming about Inuyasha, either was plausible.

They reached his palace around mid afternoon and Kagome was still sleeping soundly in his arms, she had not moved since he moved her. He carried her to a guest room that was connected to his and laid her down, gently, on the soft bed. She whimpered at the lose of warmth but soon copped. SesshoMaru waited for a moment before going to the door and calling for Jaken. The small toad came running at his masters' call.

" Yes mi'lord?" he asked with his head bowed.

" Jaken, I need some medicinal herbs and some water, now!"

Jaken quickly bowed and went to fetch what his master desired without a second thought as to why he wanted them.

SesshoMaru watched as Jaken ran. When the toad was out of sight, he went back into the room and drew Tenseiga, the sword of life. He looked once more at Kagome's now crippled body before slicing her with the Tenseiga. There was a flash of blue light as her bones repaired themselves piece by piece. When she was fully healed, Jaken came in with the herbs and water that SesshoMaru had asked him to retrieve. Jaken left quietly, after giving SesshoMaru what he had asked for, seeing the sleeping girl lying in the bed. Jaken wondered but didn't ask as he went about his duties again.

SesshoMaru set the herbs and water on the table next to the bed and waited. He waited till the moon began to rise but Kagome didn't awaken. It appeared that she was in dire need of sleep and that she would most likely sleep through the night and possibly the next day. Knowing this, SesshoMaru went to his room and went to bed.

Kagome's Dream

Kagome was traveling with Inuyasha like the old days but something was different, it was just her and Inuyasha. They were together and in love. They were inseparable, not even Kikyo could tare Inuyasha from her. They were truly in love and life was good.

Then, Inuyasha was slaughtered right before her eyes. Standing behind him was Naraku. He shot his tentacles at her and held her still as he walked toward her. She couldn't move as he came face to face with her.

" Kagome, you will also die as well, don't worry about that but first I want my way with you." An evil smile appeared on his face as her fear skyrocketed.

She began to scream and tried to escape his grasp as his hand grasped her throat and squeezed it. His free hand began to break her ribs, one by one. She couldn't handle the pain as he continued to destroy her, piece by piece. Each bone was putty in his vile, disgusting hands. She continued to scream and struggle through her pain all the while, his evil smile was all she could see.

End Kagome's Dream

SesshoMaru awoke from his slumber when Kagome began screaming. He quickly dressed and went to see what was the problem. He covered his ears upon entering her room, her screams becoming painful to his sensitive ears. He sat down on the edge of her bed as she began to struggle against an invisible force. As he observed her, he noticed that Naraku's aura was stronger than before. It was like back at the cliff when he had hurt her. The purple cloud was wrapped around her head; he knew that Naraku was controlling her dreams.

SesshoMaru reached forward and began to gently stroke her forehead just as he would do if Rin had a nightmare. She soon calmed down and the purple cloud around her head disappeared. He listened as her breathing became regular, as did her heartbeat. A sigh escaped him when she finally calmed down. He was relieved that Naraku had given up when he came. He didn't need her to be sleep deprived, nor did he need her to wake him in the night because of that bastard. He continued to stroke her forehead for a few more minutes. Then, he returned to his room and went back to sleep.

The next evening, Kagome awoke. She tried to move her stiff body but found that there was something heavy on it. She looked to see Rin sleeping; her arms were wrapped around Kagome's waist. Kagome poked Rin, hoping to wake her. When Rin didn't wake, Kagome began to gently shake her shoulder. Kagome gave up when that didn't work. Just as she was about to tell Rin to wake up, the door opened.

SesshoMaru walked into the room and pried Rin from Kagome's waist. He then took Rin to her room to sleep. He returned to find Kagome trying to stand. He watched as she fell to the ground again and again. After about twenty minutes, he decided to intervene. When Kagome began to fall again, he caught her and set her back on her bed. He sat down next to her as her eyes glazed over. He remembered this look from earlier on the cliff. Her eyes had glazed over when Naraku had begun to torture her. This must mean that Naraku was talking to her through her mind. He watched as her face changed emotions over and over again.

' Naraku must be threatening her. I'll solve this problem.' SesshoMaru completed that thought by placing his hand on the back of her head. Her eyes quickly returned to their normal state. This caused him to conclude that Naraku wasn't as powerful anymore and that his aura alone could render Naraku completely helpless. He smiled, ever so slightly, at this thought.

SesshoMaru watched, in silence, as Kagome fell forward as if she were unconscious. He caught her before she fell of the bed. The moment his hand came in contact with her, her body began to vibrate. He watched as Kagome opened her mouth. His eyes widened as Naraku's corrupted voice echoed out of Kagome.

" Damn you SesshoMaru! Damn you!" Was all he said before Kagome returned to normal. She lifted her head to see SesshoMaru looking at her with a look of terror.

" What's wrong SesshoMaru?" she asked quietly.

SesshoMaru just continued to stare at her.

" What the hell did he do!" she screamed at the frozen TaiYoukai.

It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back

It's like a whirlwind inside of my head

It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within

It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin

The next few months went by very slowly to Kagome. She wasn't allowed to do anything besides sit in her room. SesshoMaru was taking extra pro caution towards Kagome because of what Naraku could do. He was only trying to protect everyone, including Kagome, from another Naraku escape. After six months with out any sign of Naraku, SesshoMaru put caution to the wind and let Kagome do what she wanted, just as long as he was near by just in case Naraku decide to pop up.

Kagome's sanity was slowly returning in Naraku's absence. She hadn't felt this free in what felt like an eternity. She actually felt happy when SesshoMaru told her she could do anything that she wanted. The first thing she did was take a nice hot bath in the hot springs. It was then she decided to gather her thoughts and decide what to do next. She knew that Naraku wasn't gone but maybe he would never return. She knew that would never happen. He would probably come back when she left SesshoMaru.

' SesshoMaru... do I really want to leave? I feel so safe here, do I really have to leave? Would SesshoMaru let me stay? I hope so, he's been so, dare I say it, kind to me. I feel like I belong. I don't want to leave but... depending on what happens with Naraku, I might have to. But he's been so kind and almost fatherly to me, maybe Rin has melted his ice heart. He makes me feel a feeling I haven't felt since I last saw Inuyasha alive. What is that feeling? Is it... could it.... It must be... love! I feel love towards him! I love SesshoMaru! But dose he love me in return? Or does he see me as just some psycho with an evil hanyou in my head? I don't think I'll ever know but I would like to. I love SesshoMaru.'

The face inside is right beneath your skin

The face inside is right beneath your skin

The face inside is right beneath your skin

On day, while playing with Rin in the gardens, Kagome felt a very sharp pain in the back of her head. Brushing it off as nothing but a headache, Kagome continued to play. A few moments later, Kagome fell to her knees in pain. Rin ran over to her, worried for her new okaa-san.

" Okaa-san! Are you hurt?" Rin asked, sadness and worry drenched her voice.

" Run Rin! Get away from me or you'll get hurt!" Kagome said through her pain.

" Rin will get SesshoMaru Sama!" With that, Rin ran inside to get SesshoMaru.

Rin ran down the many halls of the western palace in search of SesshoMaru. After a few minutes, she came to his study. She knocked on the door and waited for him to answer.

" Come in."

Rin opened the door. She ran in and latched herself to his leg and began to cry. Realizing that something was wrong, SesshoMaru removed Rin from his leg to get answers.

" Rin, what is wrong?" he asked in his usual, cold voice.

" Kagome Okaa-san is in pain! Her head is hurting her!" Rin then continued to cry.

SesshoMaru knew what was wrong the moment Rin had said 'Kagome'. He grabbed Rin's shoulders to get her attention.

" Rin, I want you to go to your room and stay there until I come to get you. Is that understood?"

Rin nodded and ran to her room. SesshoMaru then went to the gardens to stop whatever Naraku had planed. When he entered the gardens, he found that he was in for more than he planned.

The sun goes down

I feel like I betray me

The sun goes down

I feel like I betray me

SesshoMaru stood in shock, total shock. Before him, on the ground, in agonizing pain was Kagome. Sprouting from the back of her head was Naraku. (Rip from Movie 2 but what could be worse than Naraku taking up residence in your head than having him sprout form it?) The evil hanyou turned and smirked at the frozen TaiYoukai.

" SesshoMaru, finally I can have my revenge and kill you."

" What have you done to Kagome?"

" Nothing really but if I am disconnected from her, she will die and if I die then the same will happen. Either way, I win."

" What do you mean?"

" Simple really, I win by getting rid of my greatest rival for the jewel and getting a second chance to live and destroy. SesshoMaru, you will be my first target." With that, Naraku attacked. SesshoMaru nearly dodged the new extenedoNaraku. He then drew Tokijin and began to fight back. (I don't write fight scenes! Leave me alone! And stop yelling at me cuz my previous fight scenes sucked!)

It's like I'm paranoid looking over my back

It's like a whirlwind inside of my head

It's like I can't stop what I'm hearing within

It's like the face inside is right beneath my skin

The battle lasted several hours. Both combatants had taken considerable amounts of damage but Kagome took the most. She was slowly dieing. SesshoMaru sensed this and began to move toward her without Naraku realizing it. After another ten minutes, SesshoMaru was next to Kagome. Remembering what Naraku had said stopped him from cutting her free but then he realized that she didn't deserve to die this way and if he didn't cut her free, Naraku would absorb her and become invincible. After distracting Naraku with a new wound in his chest, SesshoMaru turned and cut Kagome free. Naraku screamed as his new body turned to dust and blew away in the wind.

SesshoMaru knelled next to Kagome, she was already dead. He cradled her body in his arms. She had already suffered a fate worse than death, but he didn't want her to die. He didn't want her to leave him. She brought a feeling to his cold heart that not even Rin could bring. Love. He loved Kagome, a human who beat all the odds and survived what even he would have died doing. He wanted her to live after what has happened, it shouldn't end this way.

SesshoMaru drew Tenseiga. The blade pulsed within his grasped. The demons from the underworld appeared upon Kagome. Everything but him, Kagome and the demons went black as he raised Tenseiga and killed the small imp like demons. A blinding blue light erupted, from where he had swiped the blade, as Kagome's soul returned from the land of the dead. The light vanished, he sheathed Tenseiga and cradled Kagome once more in his arms.

Bump Bump, Bump Bump...

Kagome's eyes opened. A small, unnoticeable smile formed on SesshoMaru's lips. She was alive. It took her a moment to realize that the very person who had stolen her heart was holding her. A small blush crept to her cheeks. They were stuck that way for what seemed like an eternity. Then, SesshoMaru carried her, bridal style, inside to rest and heal form what had just occurred. Kagome stayed for a month but after she was better, she knew she couldn't stay. She left one night, without saying goodbye. When SesshoMaru awoke that morning, he found a note with a rose on his bedside table. What it said hit him harder than any attack ever could. He felt like he had been torn apart. He took the rose and put it in some water. He also took the note and put it in his desk, to remember the one who had stolen his heart, for he knew they would never meet again.
