Lullaby

A tiny figure tiptoes through the hallway until he gets to a certain room. Slowly opening the door he quietly walks to the side of the bed and starts tugging on the covers.

"Okaa-san..I had a nightmare...Can I please sleep with you and Otou-san tonight?" He pleads with sad eyes. The figure on the bed stirs.

"Hmm..Oh of course Shippo-chan." Kagome turns to look at her mate who just sighs.

"Hai, but just for the night." He gives the pup a small smile as he jumps on the bed in delight getting right in between them.

"Arigatou Otou-san." Shippo snuggles up with Kagome, but still keeping contact with his Otou-san. Kagome wraps her arms around her kit and gives him a soft smile.

"What kind of nightmare did you have Shippo? Was it about Naraku again?" She questions as he settles down.

"Hai Okaa-san..This time it was different.All of our friends were dying and I couldn't do anything to save them, and then I saw Naraku attack you..." The kit starts to sob quietly." But I woke up before you died." Kagome hugs him tighter and gently kisses him on the forehead.

"I'm never going to leave you Shippo..Neither is your Otou-san. We will always be there to protect one another no matter what. Naraku is dead and he will never come back." Shippo gradually stops crying and looks up at his Okaa-san with a smile on his face.

"Will you sing me a lullaby, please." Kagome nods and starts to run her fingers through his hair gently as she thinks of a song.

As the song drifts off Kagome looks down and sees that her kit was sleeping peacefully with a paw curled in her nightgown. She smiles gently at him and looks up at her mate who leans forward slightly and kisses her on the lips.

"Where did you learn that song? It was very beautiful. You'll have to sing that to our pups one day." He smiles gently at her and kisses her again.

"I learned it from my Okaa-san, she used to sing it to me when I had a nightmare." She snuggles as close as she can to her mate without squishing Shippo who was still in between them.

"Oyasumi nasai, my mate." He whispers before pulling both Kagome and Shippo into his arms. "Aishiteru always and forever." He closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep.

"Aishiteru Sesshoumaru, my mate." She gives him one last glance as she too falls asleep.
