I know this will make me sound like the biggest noobon th planet but I'm wondering what exactly is a BETA in terms of writing Fanfiction? What do they do? Could someone help me out? I'm new to the game and trying to improve as a writer.

Do NOT feel like a noob.

A beta is someone who looks over your work. They clean it up grammatically, point out errors (like missed words,etc.), give their opinion on the flow of a chapter/oneshot, and they can help with plot development and charaterizations. In other words, betas are pretty awesome.
