I got this challenge idea from the show 'Surprise homecoming' on TLC. Love the show, and almost every 'surprise' has me tearing up. Especially the ones with children. (Mainly because my brother is in the air force and his wife is giving birth to their first child this year)

What it is, is basically service men and women(from the military) coming back home after being deployed for a year. However their special someone(parent, spouse, lover, children) Don't know they are coming home so the meeting is a big surprise and very touching.

If anyone is up for this challenge, here is a guideline(sort of thing) for the challenge;
-Either Kagome or Sesshoumaru have to be in the military(whatever branch of your choosing) and are coming back from being deployed
-Can be either a chapter story or one shot
-Can be any rating(give a warning if it's anything above T)
-1,000 word minimum(if a one-shot)
-No due date
-Can be any genre of your choosing!
-They can have children(Shippo and Rin would probably be best choices)


(I don't know if Karma can still be rewarded for challenges, let me know if it can't and I'll remove the karma reward)

-Best reaction from the people being surprised at the homecoming

I keep forgetting about banners It is highly likely. I'll try making one/thinking something up for one. It might take a few days/week or so before it is posted though

I think that this may be the challenge to get my out of my rut.

I watched the show also tonight and I was almost in tears especially when the SSgt. got to hold his son for the first time.

I remember that part I had tears in my eyes his son was adorable

And if you can't think of a banner, I saw an open one by R0o that she'll probably let you use it's called "Waiting"

I'm glad this is a challenge that interests people

I got caught up with the show last night, I would have to say my favorite homecoming was when the guy went to his wife's bridal party and when he took off her blind fold she literally jumped back in shock.

Ah~ That's definitely one of my favorites too. I like the raw emotion she showed/the reaction she had. It was adorable and humorous at the same time.
