The Breeder Program by SweetKit

The Wish

So, this story is still in the works. Normally I wouldn't start posting this kind of story until I was finished, but its gotten so long and I'm so excited... I decided to post anyway.

Now, like I said, this story isn't finished. So, this means it will take time for chapters be edited and uploaded. I will attempt to make the chapters a consistant in length as I can, but some will be short or long. Don't eat me. I'm not a perfect writer and am completely okay with suggestions and corrections.

I hope this story will be to your liking!

Enjoy!

Kagome leaned back against her heavy yellow book bag that was against the sacred tree, her eyes towards the sky. It was dusk and the stars dominated along side the moon, unlike in her time, where the lights from the city kept her from seeing them well.  This is why she loved the Sengoku Jidai.

Lowering her eyes, her mood lightened up as seeing the happy faces on her friends. They were all happily conversing with each other, leaving her to her muse.

Sango sat in front of the fire, her arm around her younger brother, now alive without assistance. They seemed to be having a quiet conversation that made Kohaku's cheeks turn red. Miroku sat next to her, his hands occupied with Kirara sitting in his lap demanding his attention. He also seemed to be in on the conversation; his comments making even Sango blush.

Shippo laid across from them, next to the fire as well, happily coloring with Rin at his side. A few feet behind them and against another tree was Sesshomaru sitting casually, his eyes closed. He had his left hand propped up on his bent knee, flexing it like he was still getting use to having it after gaining it back after its regeneration. Jaken a little ways from him still watching Rin like his life depended on it. Ah-Un also had his eyes on the tiny human ward, his usually covered muzzles exposed, his nose scenting the air.

Inuyasha and Kaede were talking off to the side, a small brown urn in her hands. Kikyo had finally left this world again and Inuyasha insisted that he bring back the ashes to Kaede to be buried again. From what the group understood, Kikyo had given the rest of her life force to Kohaku to keep the boy alive when they took out the shard in his back. Thankfully, Kagome had a baggie from her time so they could gather up her ashes until they could find her a proper urn at the time. Shaking herself from her thoughts, she returned her eyes to Inuyasha and could see the seriousness in his eyes and the tears in Kaede's.

Sighing, Kagome looked into her hands that were cupped on her lap. There, whole and sparkling, was the Shikon no Tama. Finally, after three years of searching and fighting, Naraku had been defeated. The battle was just two days before, right outside of Endo and afterwards, they took a day to relax. The entire village had celebrated as well, bringing together their harvest and hunted to have a large feast.

"Hey, Kagome!" Her eyes jerked up to see Inuyasha making his way to her, "I think it is time."

She couldn't help but admire Inuyasha in that instant. He had already explained that he no longer wished to be a full youkai and he simply wanted to live a life in peace as a hanyou. Not only that, but his entire attitude had become a little more mature.

"Sure, Inuyasha." Pushing herself off the ground, she let her eyes scan around to the others that now watched her with interest. Even Sesshomaru, who Kagome had come to respect after he saved her several times during the fight with Naraku, "Are you all ready?"

"Yes, Kagome, I am ready for a normal life." Sango said as she and Miroku both stood and came closer.

Kagome nodded and looked at the tama between her fingers before closing her hands around it. First, she prayed that she would make the right decision. Then made her wish, asking for the tama to go away forever.

Her eyes closed as the tama began to become too bright to see with. She could feel the power of the Shikon no Tama washing over her and pulsing in her hands. Then her hands collapsed together, the tama no longer there.

Keeping her eyes closed, she strained her ears to hear her friends, but when she didn't she opened her eyes and gasped. She now stood in front of her family's shrine, but it looked older fashioned and there were more trees and the stone walk looked more natural. Turning, she looked at the sacred tree, finding it aged, like in her normal time.

Her body began to tremble as she looked over the stairs of her shrine, seeing a forest rather than tall skyscrapers and telephone wires. In the distance, she could see small buildings together that looked like villages and not the streets of Tokyo. Slipping down to her knees, she grabbed at her shirt above her heart.

'What happened? Did I make the wrong wish on the tama?' A sob rose to her chest, but she held it back, 'I didn't even get to say goodbye.'

"Kagome, is that you?" Kagome looked to see her mother coming her way, "You need to get to bed. You have a very important day tomorrow."

'An important day tomorrow?' Kagome wondered, "What do you mean?"

"Oh, Kagome, don't tell me you forgot!" Her mother hurried over to help her daughter up, "Your test for the breeder program is in the morning."

"Breeder program?" Kagome questioned.

"Now you are just being silly." Kagome's heart pounded in her chest as her mother began to mumble to herself as they walked to the house.

'Does she remember that I use to time travel?' Looking at her mother, she assumed her mother was not completely the same mother that knew of her other life across the well, 'Please tell me this is all just a dream!'

To be continued...
