Watching them now, Kagome was reminded of an old adage. “Boys will be boys.” As Inuyasha and the maturing Shippo got into another tussle, the Miko could only shake her head before stepping between them.

“Enough, both of you. Inuyasha, Shippo we don't have time for these immature games.” Kagome said.

Though her voice was quiet, it carried a weight brought on by her time in Sengoku Jidai. A weight nearly everyone watched refine the once emotionally driven, occasionally reckless Miko into a woman worthy of her noble Miko ancestress, Midoriko. The past seven years had not only refined Kagome's manner, but also her face and form as well. Sculpting away the softness of youth to reveal high cheek bones and womanly curves.

Make no mistake, despite this, Kagome was still nothing like the former Shikon Miko, Kikyo. Her passion and fire still very much present, only slightly banked. She'd learned that every emotion had it's place and time. It was knowing when that kept enemies guessing. And also kept them from using one's own feelings as a perceived weakness and thus, a weapon to be wielded against you.

“The Miko is right, half-breed. Cease and desist this childish behavior.” Sesshomaru interjected, smoothly.

His baritone like velvet encased steel for the auditory senses. The word, half-breed no longer carried the heat and disdain the Daiyoukai once held for his younger sibling. Though even Sesshomaru's renowned patience had it's limits. As time wore on, uniting their respective packs had seemed the only prudent choice in their mutual hunt for the Spider Hanyou, Naraku.

Kagome turned her cobalt gaze on the Daiyoukai. Subtly inclining her head in a silent gesture of thanks for his support. Inclining his own head in recognition of the Miko's thanks, an all too brief smile flitted across Sesshomaru's mouth. There and gone as though smoke.
