Meeting the Matchmaker

So, I am a huge disney fan along with being a anime fan, and I got the idea from Mulan. I've seen many versions of Sess/Kag pairings that also were based off of Mulan, but I didn't want the entire concept to be the same. I hope I can satisfy those who don't like reading the same kind of things over and over.

Again, as I said in my previous story, I am obsessed with Kagome as a demon. I don't know why, but I think it has something to do with me being human and it can be boring as a human. Lol. But, if you do not like these kinds of stories, I wouldn't read this one.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this story. I already have it complete, I just will post the chapters slowly.

Please R&R

I do not own anything Inuyasha or Co.

Enjoy!

The day was clear and blue sky was clear with no clouds. A light breeze went through the village as a group of humans and demons were grouped around a large hut. In a line, that was in front of the group, was several beautiful young women.

"She isn't good enough." A woman circled around a young girl wearing a light green kimono, "This isn't what the young village lord is looking for." The woman looked onto the next girl and started to circle her. She looked at her face, grabbing her chin and turning her head, "You have beautiful blue eyes... like the river." She then touched the silver stripes on her cheeks, "Speak your name."

"Higurashi, Kagome." The girl's eyes looked forward as the woman began to circle her and touch her raven hair and run her fingers through her thick coal tail.

"Ah, General Higurashi's daughter." She stopped in front of her again and looked down at her hips that were covered in a blue kimono and a red obi with a yellow design at the end, "Your hips are too small. That does not give to good child birthing."

The woman moved on then to the next girl. Kagome's chest didn't move as she held her breath; she failed again.

After the matchmaker made up her mind, choosing the girl at the far end who would be perfect for the young lord, Kagome found her mother. Her mother was a small woman with short hair that was in a low bun at the moment. Her eyes were brown with a hint of gold in the middle. She had a long brown tail that dragged behind her.

When she walked up to them, she bowed, "I am sorry to disappoint you, mother."

"We will just have to try harder, Kagome. These are not easy times with the land at war." Her mother put her hand on Kagome's upper arm, "Lets go home to let your father know." Her mother waved over a boy who pulled along a cart, "We need a ride to the Higurashi estate."

They made their way inside once they arrived home and Kagome gave a large sigh as she took the comb out of her hair that was in her tight bun. Next she took the leather tie out and her long raven hair fell over her shoulders and down her back. Her tail twitched over her shoulder as the tension slowly left her body.

Rubbing her fingers through her sore scalp, she walked casually into the dining room where her father was eating a bowl of rice. "Kagome, I heard you failed making the match." The general looked up at her.

His black hair was short and peppered with gray, same with his facial hair. He had dark blue eyes, wrinkled slightly, but you could see where war aged him through them. He had a thin black tail that laid next to him.

"Yes, father." She quickly went and knelt next to him in a bow, "I am sorry to be a burden."

She felt a hand on her back, "My daughter, you are no burden... anyway, you cannot change your body in such a way." She looked up at him, and he continued, "There will be someone out there who wouldn't be able to live without you."

She couldn't help but beam at her father, "Thank you, father."

"Kagome!" a younger boy came running in, "I heard that you got rejected!"

"Souta, that isn't the way to speak to your sister. You are to encourage her." Kagome's mother also walked in.

Souta was only a few years younger than Kagome, but he was slightly taller. His eyes were brown and his hair short to his head. He had a small brown tail that hung behind him.

"Sorry, sister." He sulked as he sat at the table.

They all sat around the table as dinner was served. They all made small talk as a servant ran into the room and bowed before the general.

"My lord! There is soldiers outside demanding to see you." The servant went silent.

"Thank you, Rio." The general stood, "Excuse me, family. Continue eating."

As he left the room, Kagome and Souta looked across the table at each other, then scrambled up and out of the room. They made their way out of the back of the house and into a hayloft of the barn they held their horses. From there they could view the entire village where they could see and hear the soldiers.

"General!" The soldiers dismounted their horses and bowed at the waist.

"What is this about?" He folded his arms at his chest, looking down at the young boys.

The pulled a scroll out and began to read, "General Higurashi, you are ordered to join our Lord's war and lead an army. You are demanded in his presence as soon as you have a horse saddled. In addition, your oldest son is being recruited into the army and is to be at the training camp in seven days."

They then rolled up the scroll and handed it over to the general, who gave it a glance over, "Let me inform my family and I will be with you."

"Yes, Sir!" They all bowed again and watched as the general made his way inside his home.

Kagome's eyes were watery as she looked over at Souta, "You're leaving too?"

"I guess so." He looked down at the hay under him, "But, I will train hard to be like father."

They were silent as they made their way back to their home. Inside, they found their father and mother embracing. She then backed away from their father and she bowed to him, "Please, be safe, my mate."

He gave her a small smile as she straightened out again and he looked towards the door where Kagome and Souta stood, "Souta, I imagine you heard that you have been summoned to training."

"Yes, father." Souta answered as he stepped in the room.

"Oh, not you too." His mother walked over and hugged him.

Kagome walked over to her father and he motioned for her to follow him into the next room. He shut the screen as they entered the study and he walked over to a desk. He then set the scroll on the desk and then opened a drawer, "Kagome." He pulled out a silver comb with a blue and white flower, "I was going to give this to you when you made your match." He walked back over to her and gently placed it in her hair, "But, a warrior knows that this might be the last time he sees his daughter."

Kagome's eyes became blurry and she reached up to finger the comb, "Thank you. It is beautiful."

"No." He wiped a tear from her cheek, "You are beautiful, and the comb only is beautiful with you. By itself, it is just a metal."

She backed up and bowed to him right as her mother walked in, "The soldiers are getting restless, my dear."

"It is best that I go." He hugged his daughter and wife, "Send Souta to the camp within the week. The sooner the better."

With that, he walked out of the room and outside where he went into the stables. A few moments later, he was in armor and leading out a strong war horse.

After he mounted the horse, he looked over at his family, "Be well, my family."

"Be safe." Kagome whispered as she watched her father and several other villagers ride off with the soldiers.
