At the Border

This is my first story, my first time publishing anything. I do not know if I am any good. I guess I kinda felt creative. Please review, so I can better my writing.

This damn plane is suffocating, I can’t wait to be back on the ground and breathe fresh air in. Most importantly I want to see her again.

“Please put your seatbelts on, the plane will be landing at Hong Kong International Airportin in 20 minutes”.

While the plane is descending, I think about what I left behind in Tokyo, my past but also my future with her.

It’s cold outside, the people in front of me are slow, and they seem like they don’t know where they are going. The signs are easy enough to follow, how stupid can some people be. I head to the baggage area, to get my bags and get the hell out of here. I travel with the same black suitcase as everyone else, so it’s hard to discern my bag from the rest. It seem ages before I recognize my bag, but there it is. I am following the lines now, to the outside, my heart is pounding now, and outside is ‘kagome’ waiting for me. It’s finally my turn now and I head to the counter and handout my passport to the personal, the guy looks at my passport and types something into the computer.

“What are you here for? Business or leisure”

“I am coming here on a working visa”.

He is typing again on his computer and its unnerving me.

“Please step aside, the custom personal will be with you shortly”

"why”

“There seems to be some irregularities with your visa”

“Hmm”

I step aside and walk to the corner, where I see the custom personal and I have this awful feeling in my gut now. For the first time in a long time I feel uncomfortable, what where the odds of my past catching up to me. Just when I was in reach of something I truly wanted ‘Kagome’.

“Sir, could you please follow me to my office, we have some questions for you”

“hmm”

I follow him to some dingy office, about 10 meters away from where the custom counter was, behind some obscure door.

“Please sit, I will be with you in a minute”.

While waiting for his return I pick the phone from my pocket and see a message from ‘Kagome’.  ‘I am waiting by the doors, can’t wait to see you’. My heart sinks in, I feel tense, and my chest tightens.

“What have I done?”

The custom personal walks back in, and sits down behind the desk with some documents in his hands. I take a quick glance at the documents and realize why they stopped me.

“Are you Sesshomaru Kurosawa”

“Yes”

“Do you have a criminal record?”

After the question left his mouth, it seemed like time stood still and the memory of when I first met ‘Kagome’ surfaces.

All my muscles ache, I try to move but it hurts. Where am I and what happened to me? My memories are a jumble. I remember working at the construction site, bricks, ply woods and shattering sounds. The memory is seeping in slowly and I open my eye. It seems that I am in hospital bed and look seriously hurt. I try to move again and I feel a sharp pain in my legs.

“arggg”

exhausted I sit still again, trying to clear my thoughts. I hear movements outside and the door opens. A girl walks in dressed in white, I presume she is a nurse. She looks frail with her long dark hair and fair complexion but she has one of brightest smiles I’ve seen.

“Your finally awake, how are you feeling Mr.Kurosawa?”

“I feel fine, when can I leave”

“I am sorry Mr. Kurosawa but you have been severely injured and you will need to stay under care until you are recovered, I am Kagome by the way and I was assigned as your nurse for the coming weeks”

This is just my luck, I am going to be so irritated by the end of this week if she keeps smiling like that, I need to find a way out”

The memory is vivid, how could I have found that annoying, I guess I was a different person back then. How I’d like to see that smile again. Looking up to the personal, I strategically form my answer.

“Well, Let me try to explain”
