“An old friend of mine works as a caretaker for a shrine a few hours away.  They received new artifacts that were to be stored to preserve their quality of life, but they have no room to house many of the relics.”

Ojii-chan’s eyebrows lift, beseeching. The thought of being caught in a conversation between her grandfather and another elderly man like him repels her, but his kind tone and her desire to focus on something other than her own misery spurs her decision. She would detest being the malefactor for his sulking anyway.

Kagome smiles thinly. “I’ll help, Ojii-chan.”
