(AN): The story takes place in the feudal era. Touga is alive and is mated to both Sesshomaru's mother (who i named Keraiku) and Izaiyoi and they get along. All characters will be either demon or elemental beings. Inuyasha is full demon, so is Izaiyoi. I don't think I will include any human character that will be significant.

The story is a loose adaptation of the forced betrayal between Kikyou and Inuyasha, but outside of the original storyline and with Sesshomaru and Kagome instead.

Gone

"SESSHOMARU! NO!!!"

His body was thrown backwards into the wall of his private chambers, leaving sizable dent. His haori was burned open, reveling his chiseled chest and the wound it bared still sizzling from its exposure to the high magnitude of raw power. It oozed his rich, dark blood that flowed down his abdomen and stained his white hakamas and spilled onto the floor.

Sesshomaru's mind was reeling. He had been injured, but how? As he opened his eyes, he saw a blurry image of his mate's body lying motionless in a growing pool of blood. The junction between his left shoulder and neck began to throb with a pain that was even greater than the burnt whole in his chest.

'Kagome..!?' He thought.

Sesshomaru desperately tried to move his body but all he could manage to do was stretch his right arm in her direction before all his limbs gave out. Darkness began to cloud his mind and vision and he knew he was losing consciousness. As he struggled to keep his eyes open, Sesshomaru caught sight of a pink glow that started to engulf his mate, only growing brighter by the second. A blinding flash lit up the large room and when it died down, he saw that her body along with the side of the room was missing and all he could see out the hole was the forest that lead to the central lands.

"K-kagome.." Sesshomaru whispered.

(A few minutes earlier, elsewhere in the castle)

"Honestly, Keraiku? Did you have to teach Izaiyoi your tricks to this game?? I only taught her a fortnight ago and now she’s almost as good as you!" Touga smirked as he playfully slammed down his piece.

"Yes, my lord mate. I honestly did. You only taught her so you'd have someone else to beat, you old dog." Keraiku smiled as teased the great dog general.

"I'm afraid she's right about you, my love. You enjoy winning a little too much." Izaiyoi stated with a charming smile on her lips. She had a sly gleam in her charcoal eyes as she moved another shogi tile.

"I win!" She exclaimed with a clap.

"I demand a rematch" the lord smiled.

A toddler came teetering in, his dark grey head bobbed and he stumbled a bit.

"Mommies, Yasha hungry" he said with a pout.

Keraiku picked up the child with one swoop and held him to her hip. Inuyasha giggled in respond to her cooing. He glimpsed he fathers silvery locks in its usual high ponytail, his smile widened.

"Hi Daddy!"

Touga let out a deep chuckle as he reached for his second born son. Izaiyoi looked on with pride shining in her eyes.

Suddenly, tension rose in the air as youki filled the room. Touga recognized it was his heir's. But what could have caused his outpour?? He began to lower the pup as he expanded his senses in search of any threat to his family. But there was nothing out of the ordinary..

"SESSHOMARU! NO!!"

The adults all locked eyes for briefest of moments before they dashed in the direction the voice came from. It was definitely Kagome, but it didn't make sense. What was going on between her and Sesshomaru?

"Stay here, Yash" Izaiyoi urged, and then they were off.

As they raced down the hall that lead to the east wing of the palace where the couple in question resides, a flash was seen coming from their chamber. Both their blood scented the air, sending the family into panic. Upon entering the room they found Sesshomaru slumped against a wall and another section of the room completely missing. Near the empty space that was once a grand balcony was a large pool of blood that belonged to Kagome. They rushed to Sesshomaru's side, the mothers intensely surveyed his wound intensely.

"What happened?! Son, answer me now! Where is your mate??" Touga demanded.

Keraiku looked uncharacteristically shaken by the scene before her but she remained silent. Izaiyoi gripped her arm as tears welled in their eyes.

"Answer me Sesshomaru!"

At that moment Sesshomaru groaned in pain, reaching for his mating mark. The pain twisted through his neck, over his shoulder, down his chest, through his back and reached to every limb. It throbbed and pulsed along with his slowing heartbeat, each moment only becoming more excruciating than the last. He couldn't lift his head to meet his father's hardening gaze, or see the distressed look on his mothers' faces as they held each other. His father’s words were barely audible. No one heard the pitter-patter of little feet stumbling into the room.

"Sessho hurt? Blood, mommy??" Inuyasha began to cry at the sight of his fallen big brother, his untouchable brother. Izaiyoi quickly picked him up and carried him out of the room, trying desperately to hide her tears but it was hopeless.

"Where Gome, mommy?"

"Ssh sweetheart, we'll find her."

Back in the chamber, Touga was still trying to get answers from his oldest who still hadn't said anything. He knew the strength and power his son possessed, having trained him since he was a pup barely walking. For someone or something to have brought him to this state, it had to have been something that caused great concern. However, there was not even a hint of an intruder anywhere on the large grounds the palace sat on in the Western kingdom. The situation was not making much sense to the naked eye.

"What happened here, son? Where is she?" he asked of the daughter-in-law they all love like their own flesh and blood.

And finally, Sesshomaru spoke. With the slightest whispered breath, he said "I-...she's...gone..." and then his world went black.

(One week later)

With a long groan, Sesshomaru returned to the waking world. He felt as though his chest had been caved in. His golden gaze took in the room he was in and noted it was the healing chambers. He sat up for a single second before his mating mark began to pulse widely and he was forced down on the bed. He tried to recall what happened before he saw his parents and lost consciousness.

~flashback~

Sesshomaru strode down the corridor, heading to his room where his mate was. He had been patrolling the eastern borders of his father’s land for the past two day, and he missed her desperately. He mused to himself how he never could have imagine things turning out as they had. Years ago he could not imagine himself loving any female in the way he loved Kagome.

'But she's not just any female' he reminded himself.

Kagome was everything he had ever wanted without knowing that he had even wanted it, his completion. She filled him with joy and pride ever day he awoke to her by his side. Not only was she the most stunning creature have ever crossed his path, but she was powerful in her own right and was a very skilled warrior. It was her combat skills that had first drawn him to her. Her elegant form and deadly strikes were something to behold. And then she turned and faced him and completely took his breath away with her ice blue gaze. He knew she would be his no matter what, and now she was the love of his life.

He brought himself out of his musing as he neared their door. However, something seemed amiss. The door was slightly open and there was a noise coming through. As he closed in, they became clearer. It was the sound of his mate moaning...but that didn't make any sense. He entered their quarters and the sight before him made his blood run cold.

There was his beautiful mate being held by an unknown male. She moaned deeply and threw her head back in pleasure as he assaulted her neck with his mouth. Kagome tangled her hand in this male's midnight blue hair and pulled him away from her neck only to bring his face to hers in a searing kiss.

Sesshomaru was enraged! He was going to rip apart whoever this man was that thought he could touch what was his and his alone. He entered the room in a rush and grabbed the male by the back of his neck, sinking his claws in causing blood to trickle down. He heard a strangled gasp from Kagome, but could not will himself to meet her eyes and accept her betrayal.

"Sessho..???" her voice sounded strained.

Sesshomaru would enjoy sinking his claws into this male before turning his full attention to his mate. He raised his clawed hand up into the air, preparing to strike.

"SESSHOMARU! NO!!"

Here she stood before him, caught in an affair and she had the nerve to beg him for her lover’s life. Could he truly have loved this woman as desperately as he had just thought only moments ago? Filled with malice, betrayal and wrath, Sesshomaru brought down his hand swiftly, claws sliding through flesh easily pulling it from the bone. Blood poured from the body and down his arm. At that moment, a blast of raw power hit him square in the chest and sent him flying into the wall behind him. Was that Kagome?? Had she attacked him in vengeance for her lover?? How dare her!

But as his eyes opened, he only saw the blurry image of her body draining its life blood onto the floor. Then his parents were there..then Inuyasha. And then nothing.

~end of flashback~

At this moment the healer decided to make himself noticed by clearing his throat.

"Ahem...my prince, you've awaken. It’s been 7 days since you lost consciousness."

"Where is my mate?" Sesshomaru growled at the aging male.

"Gone...as you told your lord father.." the healer said with slight confusion in his eyes. He continued, "Forgive me if I over step my place, my prince. But it is you who should know best what happened to the princess Kagome, her blood and flesh were on your claws"

'What..? How?'

(AN): We won't be hearing from Kagome for a while. She isn't youkai, but she's not human either. If there is any confusion, please let me know. Questions are welcomed.
