Reconciliation with Humanity by Wren Lee

Mysteries & Riddles

Kagome squeaked as their small party softly landed in front of Kaede's door.  When she had suggested going to the old miko's home she hadn't expected the taiyoukai to take her for her word at that very moment. With a sigh she realized that she would have to deal with a very annoyed Inuyasha later on. Shaking the depressing though out of her head she silently beckoned Sesshomaru into the small hut. Inside Kaede was mixing something over her fire that smelled strongly of herbs.  As she looked up to see who her visitors were, her eyes widened a bit.

Her eyes however betrayed little of the surprise she felt upon the arrival of her guests. Not only was Kagome here although she had mentioned they would be gone long but she was with Sesshomaru. In general this was not strange as Kagome had always been one to adopt loners into her traveling group. However this being was not your typical loner, he was an almighty demon lord whom all humans but a small girl. He was literally named "Destruction of Life" and yet here he was following the young miko into her hut. It was a mystery, a riddle, one that she would not recieve the answer to until she asked questions.

"Lord Sesshomaru, Kagome... What brings you here?"

Kagome glanced back at the tiny form in Sesshomaru's arms and turned back to her mentor. Kaede turned her attention to the spot Kagome was looking and realized that the Western Lord was holding a bundle of fur wrapped around a small girl, Rin.

"Rin has fallen ill. She's been sick for six days and, well we were wondering if you could help."

A/N: Here is the next installment! It is a little wordier than the previous chapters since the word minimum for the prompt was 250, hopefully it turns out to be a good change because I plan on using more prompts for future chapters. Anyway, let me know what you think by writing a review!!! (I really do love them and who knows maybe they might inspire me ^.-) Thanks for reading!
