Day Two

“Welcome Higurashi-san and Himura-san.” A beautiful woman greeted the two woman as they entered her office. “I’m honored you came with your request of acquiring a wedding planner.”

“Thank you for seeing us Onigumo-san, I know what we’re about to ask is gonna seem ridiculous, but you’re the best in the wedding business and we need your help.” Kagome started, taking a seat on the plush armchairs after giving a respectful bow.

“Please Kagura’s just fine.” The woman said, an annoyed look crossing her face once Kagome mentioned her last name. “I need to know what type of service you would prefer, day-of coordination or full service. With the former, I would take care of all logistic details on the day of the wedding while the latter is including today and onward and covers basically anything pertaining to the wedding such as budget and all the nitty-gritty details.” Kagura said with a smirk, getting right into the matter.

“Well, I rather have someone professional plan the wedding since I don’t have a single clue how to do it.” Kagome sheepishly said with a slight giggle.

“And when do you want your wedding?” Kagura asked, typing into her laptop of Kagome’s choices.

“August twenty-second.”

Kagura blinked, pausing her fingers of the keyboard. “Next August?”

Kagome shook her head, her fingers twirling her hair as she nervously corrected her. “No, the month coming up.”

“That’s an extremely short time to plan a wedding.” The wedding planner’s eyes became wide, befuddled at the answer and date.

“Tell me about it.” Sango grumbled, crossing her arms as she leveled a pointed glance at her best friend.

“I know it’s a short time, but I want it done as soon as possible.”

Kagura pursed her ruby-hued lips, it was a massive task to accomplish. “Well usually wedding plan takes a course of several months typically around eight to get everything accommodating and perfected by the time the ceremony arrives. What you’re asking of me is to take that entire process and shorten it immensely.”

“I know, I know. Everywhere else we went to didn’t even want to try helping us.” Kagome mumbled with morose, a gloomy black cloud hanging over her. Sango patted her back, comforting the woman of what seemed the sixth time today.

Kagura sighed, feeling a bit sympathetic for the troubled woman. “Well it will definitely be a challenge, but it will prove my prowess as an ultimate wedding planner.” She held her hand out, her nails painted with red and pointed, towards the suddenly brightened young woman. Kagome eagerly shook her hand. “We have a deal.” And with a final shake the contract was finalized.

“I’m so happy! You don’t know how much this means to me!” Kagome exclaimed, her blue eyes glistening.

“Kagome, don’t cry.” Sango said with exasperation when Kagome started sniffling.

Kagura gave a tiny smirk. “Well onto business, do you have anything that you already have an idea of?”

“Well, my family are Shinto followers and I would want a traditional wedding.”

“Ah, I haven’t done a traditional wedding in a while, a lot of my previous clients chose a more western ceremony, it’s refreshing to have one still willing to indulge in religious upkeep.” Kagura complimented, taking out her tablet and tapping down Kagome’s choice. “Do you have a shrine in particular?”

“My family actually owns a shrine.” Kagome said, watching as the woman gave a small nod.

“Well that actually saves you a bit of money, nowadays shrines include an attendance fee for every guest and requesting for one is an outrageous price.” Kagura continued tapping on the small electronic device. “Where do you want the reception to be at?”

“I’m not sure, somewhere with plenty of space.” Kagome shrugged her shoulders, she haven’t gotten that far with her planning.

“Okay, before I look into that, I need to see what is your budget that you had in mind about spending.”

“I haven’t really thought of that, do you have an average idea of how much should I spend for a wedding?”

“Well there’s a lot of factors that comes into play, like catering, whether you want a band or a DJ, invitations, decorations, the outfits, etcetera. Do you understand what I’m saying?” At Kagome’s nod she continued. “The average amount spent would be around two million yen.”

“Kami,” Kagome whispered, she wondered how everything was going to work with a budget that high. “Two million is a lot.”

“Are you the only one paying or is your family willing to pay some?”

“Well I’m pretty sure they’ll help me with some of the cost.” Kagome mumbled, still in her thoughts.

“Right, well I have some themes that might interest you, unless you have something else in mind?” At Kagome’s shake of her head, Kagura pulled out a large binder and Kagome eagerly looked at each idea, oohing and ahhing at the elaborate designs and then paused when each price underneath, for only the decorations, popped up.

It was so damn expensive.

“Well it’s a good thing, I’ve saved some money… Kami these prices.” Kagome murmured, her eyebrows raised as she skimmed through the binder. She must admit some of these designs were beautiful. “It would be ideal to spend two million yen, I could include anything I want.” She continued murmuring.

Kagura had a vibe that Kagome was feeling overwhelmed. “How about something more simpler, how do you want you invitations to look like?”

Kagome tapped her finger against her chin. “They should be ivory and I want bows or ribbons on them, like a cream-ish color.”

“I have some fonts that you could look it.” It took a second as Kagura pulled out a packet.

“Ooh, I like this one.” Kagome pointed at one of the cursive fonts on the first page.

“Yes, that’s a popular choice amongst brides.” Kagura informed her client. It was the Chopin Script, an elegant font with soft curves and lines.

“Hey Sango, it would be funny if we sent them cards with the Wingding font.” Kagome gave a snicker. Sango lightly giggled, imagining the expression on everybody’s face.

“Okay, our first task is to get these invitations and response cards underway, I would need a list of how many guests that will be attending and a small proof-read thank-you note if they accept the invitation. And I will email some of the vendors choices to you as well and you could just pick one of which you like most and is a reasonable price.”

All the women stood up and gave a slight bow, though Kagome wanted to hug the woman to death and only by the incessant tugging from Sango did they finally leave the office.

Kagura plopped back down on her cozy chair, twirling a loose strand around her fingers. This is definitely a challenge, hopefully everything is done and set by August.

A normal wedding planner would have gently refused taking on an impossible task, but she wasn’t like any normal wedding planner. Well it was time to make that vendors  list, but she knew it would be some difficulty persuading them to open a slot in their pack-tight schedule, after all they usually had several months of an advance notice. She just had to work on her impeccable skills. She wasn’t Kagura Onigumo for nothing.
