Temper Tantrums of an Inuyoukai by UnknownRandomness

A Deficiency of Luck

Prompt: Recluse

Word Count: 415

When Sesshoumaru hadn’t returned by the next morning, his half-sibling insisted that they needed to get moving and that ‘the bastard can catch up when he decides to show his prissy face again’. Now, Kagome was rather glad that the inuyoukai had decided to be absent this morning, because her face automatically emulated a tomato whenever she thought of her threat towards him the night before. Honestly, what in seven hells was wrong with her? How could she have actually said – no asked – the stoic demon if she should spank his buttocks for being such an asshole? It was like her mouth had no sense of self-preservation. Luckily for her, Sesshoumaru hadn’t been in a murderous rage and no harm had befallen her; in fact, he had taken her words (apparently) to heart and made Rin happy.

“Kagome-sama! Kagome-sama!”

Said woman turned to look expectantly at the girl who was scampering along behind her, arm looped in Shippo’s. They made such a cute picture, the miko had to seriously fight the urge to squeal.

“Yes, Rin-chan?”

“Do you think Sesshoumaru-sama will return soon?”

Two pairs of brown and green eyes watched her closely and the young woman had to think carefully about her answer. In all honesty, she had no idea when the Western Lord would be rejoining their group, or even if he would. (Although it was unusual that he would leave Rin if he didn’t intend to come back). Thus the miko settled on being suitably vague.

“Probably! Although I hope not.” The second sentence was muttered under her breath, muffled by Rin’s excited chatter. If she was lucky, the reclusive demon wouldn’t be returning for a long, long time.

Up ahead, Inuyasha let out an annoyed growl and Kagome glanced forward to see Sesshoumaru making his way down the path towards them, face its usual blank slate, his piercing gaze directed at her. With a mental scream, the time traveller listened to Rin’s happy cries and enthusiastic greeting, as if the white figure had been gone for months, not hours. He probably heard her wishing that he wouldn’t come back and came back specifically to make her sweat.

Oh, how she had missed the crippling embarrassment that gripped her stomach as she looked at him and the fear that he was gonna kill her at any second. Truly, his return was great!

With a long-suffering sigh, the woman settled her pack higher up her back and walked decisively towards the approaching youkai.
