The First Attempt

Kagome was wondering whether the decision she had made after talking to Rin this morning was suicidal. 

The Western Lord was reclining against a thick trunk of an aged tree, and for all intents and purposes, he appeared to be resting; but the miko knew that he could cut her head off before she even had time to scream. That knowledge was making her palms clammy and her stomach tie itself into complicated knots as she approached the solitary male. 

Stopping a few feet from him, the nervous young woman clasped her fidgeting hands together and opened her mouth to speak.

Sesshoumaru's eyes opened suddenly to shoot her a filthy glare, his arrogant demeanour radiating off him in waves that were almost palpable, as he looked at her like she was something he had unfortunately stepped in- if the demon ever did actually step in anything unfortunate.

Releasing a surprised squeak, Kagome turned tail and fled, running back to her more friendly companions. No wonder Rin thought the demon had anger management issues- she hadn't even done anything and he'd looked at her like she was next on his hit-list!

Placing a hand over her thudding heart, the miko glanced at Rin, the girl's face hopeful. She quickly shook her head, and Rin nodded understandingly but still looked a little crestfallen. They would just have to try later.

It was a shame that her first attempt had been such a resounding failure.
