Inuyasha spent the next several hours splicing holly for a cure. But the only thing he managed to do was change his brother’s eyes from brown to gold. “I’ll fix that, too,” he snickered. After grabbing a salty treat he headed back to his lab.

Kagome randomly peeked through a window’s curtain. “Hey, Snowy? You better check this out.”

“What happened to Mini-van Hellsing?” Sesshomaru got up to go stand beside her. When he saw the natural disaster he just couldn’t believe his luck. “Perfect,” he turned away. “Now I’m stuck here by snow storm. Could this day get any worse?”

“You could lose to me playing cards?” Kagome pulled out a deck and smirked. “But since you’re new, I’ll try to go easy on yah.”

He arched a silver brow and followed her to the next room.

They played game after game until the tallied score became fourty-eight to thirty-two wins.

“You’re not half bad.” Kagome reshuffled the cards.  She sat them down in a stack on the table. They took turns drawing their hand. “Too bad I don’t have any cash on me otherwise we could make things a little more interesting.”

“How about we talk about ourselves instead. Loser has to honestly answer the winner’s question after each hand.”

“Sounds fair I guess,” she mulled it over. “But what happens at the end of the game?”

“The loser completes a dare of the winner’s choice.”

“You’ve really thought this over, huh? Your endurance for humiliation must be impressive as hell.”

“And what makes you think I’m not going to win?”

“It’s your funeral, Snowy. You’re on!”

The first suite played was hearts. They laid out their cards.

Kagome threw out an Ace.

Sesshomaru cut it with a spade. “This hand belongs to me. Tell me the color of your socks.”

Cerulean eyes narrowed. “My socks? Are you kidding me? What could you possibly gain from knowing that?”

“Answer the question or forfeit.”

“But that’s so random?” she complained. He didn’t budge. “Fine. One’s stripped pink and blue and the other’s black with yellow spots.”

“Interesting,” he hummed. Sesshomaru laid down his next card. It was an Ace of diamonds. She reluctantly threw down a ten. “My win again. How old were you when you first learned to ride a bike?”

“Oh, c’mon! Seriously?”

“Are you surrendering then?”

“Never!” Fair cheeks lightly tinted pink. Her eyes slanted away. “Fourteen and some change.”

They threw out their next hand.
