“I know my rights,” the man cried. “I don’t have to say shit!”

Sesshomaru rolled his sleeve and peeked at his watch. I don’t have any time for this either. The man he held in custody stayed rooted to the ground. Jaken paced around him occasionally growling. He watched the man flinch when his dog feigned a snap. An idea quickly formed in his head. Sesshomaru pulled out his phone and dialed. “Inuyasha, I need a favor. I have in possession one of Onigumo’s men.”

“I don’t believe my cochlea. Is the mighty Sesshomaru asking for help?”

“Can you take over the interrogation for me or not?”

“Why? So you can go on your little date? What’s in it for me?”

“A new blender.”

“You know me so well. EEH! Try again.”

“Well what do you want then?”

“Wow. Are you really so desperate? Gee. I’ll tell you what Sesshy, how about I just add this to your tab. Take the orange patch attached under your wrist and stick it to ole boy. That way I can just nano-transport him and you can then be on your merry way.”

“Have you worked out the kinks? I need this man cross-examined not persecuted.”

“Better him than you, right?”

Sesshomaru hung up the phone. He glanced at his captive who stared at him wide eyes. “You’re going for a ride,” he grumbled. “Try not to die.”

“I-I don’t understand.” He winced when something cold was placed on top of his head. “You can’t do this to me!” he cried. “What’s going on? Tell me.”

Sesshomaru put back on his hat and coat. “Jaken, keep an eye on him. When he’s gone return home.” The dog flattened his ears and half growled a whine.

The man sat straighter and began to panic. “W-wait! You’re leaving?!”

“If you move he will attack.” Sesshomaru left them in the alley’s closure and went back to his car. Rin was nowhere to be seen. He was on his way to calling her. Just as he pulled out his phone she sent him a text message: By the big tree :).

It was fifteen minutes after six when he was finally in front of the giant pine. Every year it was brought out and posted at the town’s center for its citizens to decorate.  People were gathered around it now donning it with their ornaments. He spotted Rin a few feet away. She smiled and flagged him down.

“Why are you here alone?” he asked when something silver and papery bounded his eyes. His first instinct was to attack behind, but then he heard her taunting laughter.

“I think a better question, Snowy, is why are you late?” Kagome loosened the tinsel, spun him around and smirked.

“You were supposed to call me,” he growled. “How did you know to come here?”

“I have my ways,” she purred.

Shippo snorted and crossed his arms. “More like she had me text Rin.”

“Hey! Why you little…”

"What?" He brushed her off and continued. “Anyway, we just happened to randomly bump into her and ended up chilling together ever since.”

“Sorry!” Rin added.

Sesshomaru shook his head, “It’s fine. Did you tell them?”

“Yup! Already done.” Rin gestured at their bags.

“Very good,” he nodded. Sesshomaru led them to a vacant spot at the tree for them to decorate with their ornaments. “Let’s see the colors you’re all putting up in hopes for the new upcoming year?”

“Green bulbs,” Shippo chirped. “For money of course.”

“And I have these orange flowers for the prospect of new growth,” Rin chimed in.

Sesshomaru hummed his approval. “And what about you, Priestess?”

Kagome pulled out a couple of black icicles. “What I really want next year is some new…metal to adorn.”

He arched a silver brow. “You wish for black jewelry?”

Kagome punched Shippo when he snickered. “Sure! Something like that I guess. Oh yeah, this is for you.” She handed him the silver tinsel from earlier.

“Why did you pick this out for me?”

“It represents keeping track of life’s silver lining, but most importantly because it matches your hair.”

“Thanks..."

Kagome patted his shoulder, “Anytime! So what’s next on your agenda?”

“The open ice skating rink that’s about six blocks away.”
